This running QB offense at the NFL level is crap football.

At this point we can safely predict the Vikings record going forward:

Dallas - L
Denver - W
Seahawks - L
Lions - W
Chargers - L
Packers - L
Bears - W

An 8-7-1 record followed by a 9-7 record, with this roster, is inexcusable.

for me, the only game that seems a very unlikely win is at seattle...i still think we can beat the rest of these teams - even with zimmer coaching....

i'm not saying that we will beat each one of them, but i think that we're at least as good as these teams - even with zimmer coaching....

I cant believe we lost to a team with a terrible defense and a qb named Matt Moore! Ouch! We gotta get the next game. However I think it's going to take 31 points from the offense to do it.

It's in Dallas, inside, on turf. We'll do better.

Cook didn't seem to have quite the burst on grass.

it wasn't cook's fault...stefanski only ran him a couple of times to the wide side of the field - kept running him to the short side and inside...cook needs to have a little space to work in....

it seemed like every 1st down was an incompletion...2nd down was the obvious run that the chief's defense loaded the box for....

those misdirection plays where cousins was all alone with no one but a well covered cj ham to throw to - how many times did we see this last night?...seemed like 8-10....

Dana Turner -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2019 1:57:29 AM)

In these close games, against a solid coaching staff, you must make solid decisions as a head coach. Zimmer can hang with some coaching staffs in the league, but when the good ones come along, he gets exposed for his tendencies. Reid beat Zim, it's plain and simple. Zimmer should be a defensive coordinator, he's got the talent for this, but the HC job appears to be a bit much for him.

Tough loss, we could have won that game if not for a few bad decisions and sometimes that's all it takes. Sure, execution could been better one quite a few plays, but there were some really shaky decisions being made out there. Coming off a mini buy week, I would have expected a better answer for moves against our squads, I've come to expect this from a Zim coached team, the evidence is plentiful over the past few years. We had a good chance there, too bad, there's a tough road ahead, we need to pull through when opportunity presents itself, not fold!

Plenty of blame to throw around, but it really starts and stops at the top today! Yuk!

#Vikings lose 26-23 in Kansas City, falling to 6-3.

Defense surrenders season-worst four plays of 30-plus yards. Offense lost seven yards on final six plays, two three-and-out series while leading 23-20 and tied 23-23.

………

Matt Moore completed three big time throws under heavy pressure (after getting sacked, fumbling, etc) to set up the tying and winning field goals (one pass was a great play by Hill). We lost seven yards our last 2 drives. Cousins is now 0-10-1 when trailing in the 4th under Zimmer.

I have hung in with Cousins as long as I can ... he is very very good with momentum but cannot raise his game to win ugly.

9 games in and still not sure if we are a contender or a pretender.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2019 6:55:27 AM)

Losing sux but that was a very entertaining game.

We needed a TO late and we were hammering Moore. he coughed it up twice but the ball just didn't bounce our way.

I didn't get the time out there when we had them 3rd n long and about to sack him and the whistle blows?

Our cb's or our scheme is really bad. Kelce, Watkins, Hill all with 7 catches.

After the go ahead TD we were 3 and out twice. Can win games if you don't put them away. Not being able to run the ball really hurt us in the end.

When Treadwell is your leading receiver you know your in trouble. Where was Diggs?

Considering how we've looked on the road vs good team in Zimmer's tenure. I'd be willing to be a lot of money we lose this weekend at Dallas. Dallas is a better team and than a Mahom-less and missing many starts Chiefs team. Dallas D is good, and I'm betting Cousins turtles up vs a good defense, with winning record on the roads.

That puts us at 6-4, and I agree Sea is an automatic loss.

That's 5 losses, I think even this team can beat Denver and Detroit.
Chicago I have no idea, we've already lost once, but it seems they are imploding, so they may have given up by the time that game rolls around.
That brings the playoffs down to beating Green Bay and LA.

It's quite clear that Zim isn't the brightest bulb. He's above average, but won't get us to elite.

I guess there will be no shortage of posts now that we lost. It doesn't feel like we have won a close game yet this year. We either win decisively or we lose. Something missing in mental toughness. It sure would help if our quarterback could manufacture a first down once in a while with his feet. Nevertheless he had three TD passes, I don't know what to say. The chiefs had more big plays.

The issue seems conclusive that the Vikings are not a top tier team. They are better than average is about the best one can say.

The Vikings have the talent to be a top tier team, but top teams know how to win while the Vikings find ways to lose. That's on the coaching staff and that's why they'll finish with 8 or 9 wins this season. I was thrilled when they hired Zim, and I think he's done a good job cleaning up after the mess Childress left behind, but at this point it's clear that he's gone as far as he can with this team. The Vikings seem to have a decent culture in place, and they certainly have quality players. Next year we need to find the coach that can take them to the next level.

Ragnarök -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2019 8:54:14 AM)

Ive said about all I can stand to say on Kirk Cousins..,

I was really happy he played a great October and our Vikes were winning with his level of play high. BUT

You all talk outliers and returning to a mean... well we just saw that...

Im sorry, I cant and wont trust Kirk Cousins to take us to the next level. Doestnt mean he cant, just isnt probable when looking at all the body of past work.

And so goes the team... We have a HC with much the same resume, and so goes the team... GM, same story... and so goes the team...

We have tallent, we have leadership and we have ability to beat anyone, but its not being managed, coached, game planned and adjusted to in game stratagies with high degreee of football intellect to put them in a position to win week in and week out.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2019 8:56:32 AM)

So how do you view KC as a team? If we go 7-1 at home and 4-4 on the road....that is 11-5

NYG & Det Road Wins
GB, Chicago, and KC Road Losses

Need to go 2-1 in last road games and 4-0 in last 4 home games.

Seattle have been less than stellar at home: fortunate to beat the Bengals by 1, fortunate to beat the Rams by 1, needed an OT comeback to beat the Bucs and were beat soundly by the Ravens and Saints.

One of the last areas of need coming into this season was the secondary IMO.

Holy crap!

Forget Rhodes closed, Rhodes collapsed.

After saying that Trae Waynes was even worse yesterday, and has been pretty bad all year, only being masked by how surprisingly awful Rhodes has been.

MAC Alexander has been ok until they roll him to Travis Kelce late yesterday, with you guessed it, devastating results.

Book is out on Mike Hughes. I like him, and he may end up our new #1 CB way sooner then i thought he would. He’s still not all the way back from injury, or a seasoned NFL CB as of yet IMO.

Holton Hill may have more talent then them all, but the Mary Jane May never let him fully develop. But he needs to be given every opportunity now with the Keystone cops show we’re seeing right now.

Harrison Smith can’t freakin be everywhere. Could be some coverage issues/ mistakes the average Joe fan like myself are not seeing from Smith or Harris that they had help responsibilities, and failed, but I see a lot of one on one losses, and lack of ball skills from our corners.

Stunning development that may sink or at the very least negate our gains we’ve made offensively this year.

MarkWren -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2019 9:07:03 AM)

This is the 59th season of Vikings football. For me, the 9th one was my favorite--1969. I have quite vivid memories of that experience, seeing the guys just manhandle everyone they played...save KC, who turned the tables on us for one game at the very end. We avenged (?) that loss early the following season, running the Chiefs out of Met Stadium. We beat teams in all 3 phases. We were creative. Ballsy. Swashbuckling. And a load of FUN. Tailgating became elevated to an art form in our lot in Bloomington.

It appears to me, sadly, that our Vikings ship has yet to truly come in. Ever. I've got to agree with those who say the key pieces on this team simply don't have what it takes to go all the way. They seem like good enough people, which counts for a lot to me. But darn it, I want to get the Super Bowl title before Bud Grant passes, before my dad (88) passes. Time is running very short. This franchise needs new, possibly younger, more innovative minds at the top. Bud Grant was 39 when he landed the Vikes job after winning 4 titles in the CFL.

Great job by our fan base there yesterday, BTW. (You deserved better than the game you witnessed. 10 days to prepare for a QB like THAT, a defense like THAT? Words fail me... except for one, directed at you fine fans: Skol!)

Even more troubling is the fact that these highly paid athletes didnt just lose their skill sets overnight...

Zimmer is the man to look at here... its his strength coaching DBs... what the hell has happened?

What was that mutiny we had a few years ago, and is some subtle mini mutiny going on now?

It is very evident hios players are not giving it all for him in the schemes and positions they are being put in with game plans installed to succeed.

Something is very wrong here.

Spot on!

Growing up as a child I witness same, and my older generations of relatives and friends have all passed on never seeing the Vikes get their Super Bowl... Now my own parents are nearly at that stage and Im right behind them... So many I know have put so much into being fans of The Minnesota Vikings only to seem so futile, but never the less fans TO THE END...

THEY ALL DESERVE MORE

Waynes simply stinks. I've been a supporter of his but no longer can I be with a straight face.

His ball skills are awful and Hill had him biting all day long on short routes only to beat him deep.

His tackling was pretty bad as well yesterday.

One of the big problems with this defense is we simply don't take the ball away. Ever!

Rob Viking -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2019 9:28:39 AM)

Tough loss, but at least it was on the road vs a non conference opponent.

The game completely turned on the questionable ineligible downfield call on Bradbury. took away a nice gain to their 27 and totally derailed a promising drive up 6. A few plays later Williams goes for 91.

Harrison is usually the fixer but he and Harris were terrible on the 91 yard run.

What are the odds Matt Moore gets stripped and literally belly flops onto the ball, in hindsight Harrison should have thrown him aside and allowed one of the other defenders to pick up the ball. Zim called the perfect blitz there.

I still don't know how the Chiefs get ball at their own 44 after the Weatherly strip. Williams picks it up and winds up at his own 39. Guessing they blew it dead from where the fumble happened. Really unfortunate the boys couldn't recover 2 crucial fumbles like that. Had it been 2nd & 26 see would see a different call from Reid. No excuse, but I can't really blame Mac it was a perfect throw and catch.

Thielen was a big loss today, there were opening that he would have easily exploited today.

The run game was a disappointment, it was a strange game as far as game script went. A couple of TFL at crucial points and some crucial 3rd down early like the Abdullah one and Kirk sliding too early hurt.

Very winnable game.

Agree that the Vikings defense never creates turnovers. They are the least play making defense in the NFL.

Yeah. I had a friend at the game yesterday and he said it was 25% purple in the crowd.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2019 10:08:16 AM)

There is a reason that Waynes was beat by Hill---he may be the most dangerous WR in the NFL. Our problem isn't the big fast WR.....it is the WR that are like Hill....5'10" strong as an oxe, quick, and fast.

Hill burns everyone and they did get us good a couple of times. Many blame Zimmer and Cousins but we were a couple of plays away.....I think our two biggest mistakes that cost us the game were also our smallest errors. Cousins sliding a yard short and Bradbury too far downfield on the Abdullah catch. You play decent enough to win all game and those two are the haunting plays.

Those calls are like holding calls. Plenty of them to call but refs only pick out certain ones. It's like they have a scouting report on teams and players and they(refs) have to meet their quotas.

I swore I watched us run another screen later in the game and Bradbury was even further down field. No call.
