If we lose to Dallas and don't make the playoffs fine. Then I guess we suck. We just played 4 weeks of great football then lost to a good team on the road and it's almost impossible to read the posts of how bad we suck.

So, let me see if I got this straight Todd: if we beat Dallas (and screw Mike F like he's any more accurate than flipping a F'n coin) it'll be back to crickets around here

So who are you calling out as being crickets? Just curious.

Look who posts most after losses...is it you?

So is that the barometer for fandom now? If you post more after a loss you're a sucky poster? So if you're happy after a win and don't post as much you're a crappy person? I'm just asking questions. Not directed at anyone in particular.

I'd also like an answer to this question. So far I've only heard... wait for it... crickets.

I think we are all very passionate Vikings fans to be here posting on an antiquared fan board, many of us like myself since its Strib inception in the late 90s..

We all post differing ways and all have different lives, different values, different personalities... I think its rather nearsighted and predijuced to think there is only one way to express fandom, views on team and reaction to wins and losses...

But in saying that, since I post in ways that many feel is inflamitory, I will not call out others expressing their views and beliefs either... we all have a love for the same team, cant we all coexist without the need to question ones fandom?

If we finish the season 4-3 = 10-6 record we will make the playoffs.

Packers have mostly road games left after the panthers this Sunday. They looked over matched against a 3-5 LAC team.

If we can finish 11-5 I think we can win the division

Has anything transpired over the first 9 games that makes you think that will happen?

Yes....5 of our next 6 games are on turf. Our 3 losses are on grass (Chicago, KC, GB)....We are 6-0 on turf.

And the Super Bowl this year is outside on grass.... hmmm...

It sounds as if the Vikings organization should file a discrimination lawsuit against the league for selecting grass field venues for the Super Bowls knowing the Vikings can't win on grass.

On the other hand, the Vikings are a non-consideration for the Super Bowl anyway and that would be the league's defense.

HA..

We all must know just what a shot we missed in 2017, home field advantage in our own new stadium would have been huge for this team... The what ifs will forever be contemplated... Must be noted traveling to Philly to play NFCCG on that damn Bermuda grass was a huge factor for this team, sad... just so sad...

The Vikings are 1-13-1 Under Zimmer while playing outdoors on grass... What gives? Do we not play well as a team on grass? Is the team not prepared by coaching by adiquate practice on grass prior? or is it just another statistical anomaly?

Dome teams while playing outdoors in title games...

Below is a list of championship games played by a dome team on the road against an outdoor team. It isn't pretty. Dome teams are 0-11 and blowouts are par for the course. Perhaps the Vikings aren't cursed so much as they are being asked to do the nearly impossible.

NFC
2017 Philly over Minnesota 38-7
2006 Chicago over Saints 39-14
2004 Philly over Atlanta 27-10
2000 Giants over Minnesota 41-0
1991 Washington over Detroit 41-10
1987 Washington over Minnesota 17-10

AFC
2014 NE over Colts 45-7
2003 NE over Colts 24-14
1995 Pittsburgh over Colts 20-16
1979 Pittsburgh over Oilers 27-13
1978 Pittsburgh over Oilers 34-5

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/6/2019 10:32:41 AM)

Granted the following is a fantasy football based take on this weekend's game but it's still relevant for discussion. This is what Dallas' coaching staff is basing their strategy on. In my opinion they will try to exploit our secondary by operating out of formations that give little clue about whether its a run or pass. They can use Zeke to generate positive runs without selling out to a run-heavy formation and they can attack our secondary while still leaving pass-catchers back to block and pick up blitzes.

We better be ready to score 30+ if we hope to win.

Few quarterbacks have played a softer schedule than Dak Prescott and another favorable matchup is ahead against an inconsistent Vikings secondary that have yielded touchdowns to every opposing quarterback except the touchdown-resistant Washington duo of Case Keenum and Dwayne Haskins. Excluding Redskins, over the last month, the Vikings secondary has allowed 315 yards and 2.3 touchdowns per game. Prescott has favorable matchups with both of his outside receivers, Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup against struggling cornerbacks Xavier Rhodes and Tre Waynes. The Vikings have allowed the second-most tight end receptions and Dak will be able to continue to use Blake Jarwin and Jason Witten regularly. -Paul Charchian

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/6/2019 10:34:51 AM)

Here's the take on Kirk from the same format:

Fervent Kirk Cousins haters will readily point out his shortcomings in nationally televised games, particularly against quality opponents. This game features both. Cousins looked uncomfortable throughout last week's game and here comes Demarcus Lawrence, Robert Quinn and Michael Bennett, so it's hard to imagine him settling down. If that weren't enough reason for skepticism, Cousins' safety valve, Adam Thielen is likely to miss the game. Stefon Diggs will get double covered throughout the game, forcing Cousins win with Bisi Johnson and Laquon Treadwell. Yikes. -Paul Charchian

I agree. The offense needs 30+. We can do it but that's a tall task without Theilen. Bring em on!

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/6/2019 10:50:17 AM)

For the Vikings to have any chance against the Cowboys we'll need big contributions from Dalvin, Bisi, and Irv. Dalvin is obvious but Bisi and Irv are the only two that can somewhat replace what Thielen does.

Missed the fact that we are fielding the two headed draft bust monster of WRs Doctson and Treadwell along with Bisi this week plus Cook/ Ham and Rudy/ Irv outlets for Kirk should be plenty adiquate if Cousins keeps his composure...

Be any type of fan you want, Richard. Life is good and there's no criticism after 4 straight wins yet when they lose a game at KC they come out of the woodwork with how bad the team is and we ain't going anywhere, blah, blah. If we were that bad of team why not say so the the last 4 weeks. Weren't smart enough to make those claims back then?

For me, like I said, it's hard reading reactionary posts. I say what I want, like you did, and will handle like I will, like you will.

I like this team. This is the NFL, shit happens to many good teams every week.

OK. I haven't gone back and checked but did anyone see that Mike Wobschall is no longer working for the Minnesota Vikings?

There is no reason given yet why, but he's gone and no longer on his time on KFAN with Rosen or Paul Allen etc.

He's just gone.

Just the fact that it happened during the middle of the season indicates something very unfortunate. I'll put it that way. More directly I will say he got fired. He did something bad. From there it's all speculation. I hope to hear him in the future with KFAN or in some other capacity. He may have signed an agreement to not talk about it- or it may indeed be embarrassing so that he would prefer not to. I imagine that more information will leak out soon enough, though.
