A discussion that was had at our tailgate on Sunday morning was 'does Zimmer even have competition battles for starting spots?'. We don't think he does. If you're a starter then you're a starter.

Andrew Krammer@Andrew_Krammer

#Vikings injury report

Questionable: Trae Waynes (ankle), Stephen Weatherly (groin)

Out: Linval Joseph (knee), Adam Thielen (hamstring), Andrew Sendejo (groin)

And once you're declared the starter, you won't be demoted in-season due to poor performance or have your spot taken by a better-performing benchwarmer.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if the geniuses in Philly planned this all along. They were eyeing Epps and figured if they cut Sendejo loose there would be a good chance that that Zimmer would jump on him and cut Epps loose.

Cooper will play now.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/8/2019 3:05:40 PM)

Let's talk points-per-drive. The Vikings rank 5th in offensive points per drive and 7th in defensive points allowed per drive. The net points per drive (offensive points - defensive points allowed) ranking is 5. Look at the top 12 in net points per drive - looks a lot like the 12 best teams in the league. So why in the heck are we only 6-3? Why is Oakland 5-4? The way the ball bounces? Are we about to go on a tear and win the division? These stats say yes we will. Have a look for yourself.

But he won't be 100%. And he'll be alligator arming anything over the middle with Pendejo lurking. [;)]

Except Pendejo is out with a groin injury.

No kidding, Jones should have been starting instead of Bradbury from the get go.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
Source says Eagles claim safety Marcus Epps off waivers from #Vikings. Multiple teams put in bids.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
One source said on #Vikings it "bit them in the (butt)" trying to slide Marcus Epps through waivers and Philly picked him up. The Vikings had been reluctant all season to expose some of their rookies who barely play to waivers such as Armon Watts, Oli Udoh and previously Epps.

We aren't as bright as we think we are.

Man, you ain't kidding.

I actually didn't watch this game because I was working. I didn't remember anyone talking about this. (We didn't have talk vikes then)

Arlowe84 -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2019 10:40:33 AM)

Anyone else see a Cousins special coming up?

I’d like to think if we get embarrassed the Wilf’s would fire Zimmer and Spiels

But probably wishful thinking. Extending Zimmer one year was stupid

Time to start trading the aging vets and rebuild

I was actually at that game. They may have called it a force out, which allowed a catch if the ref thought the receiver would have come down in bounds if not forced out by the defender.

The real news, though, is the guy who comes over and kicks Pearson when he's on the ground. Consecutive plays where fans assault people in the game (ref gets conked with a bottle after the next play)......Minnesota Nice in its ultimate expression.

“Rule No. 1 is to take their wheels out,” Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence said, via Mitchell Gladstone of the Dallas Morning News. “If they can’t run the ball, what do they have to do? We’ve got to take their leading rusher out and make them one-dimensional.”

CPAMAN -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2019 2:30:28 PM)

Congratulations Gophers! They won a big game, something the Vikings haven't solved in a long while.

go with a lot of 11 personnel and run a sweep/pitch-out to the wide side of the field - get cook out in space...we didn't run nearly enough of this scheme against kansas city...force dallas to focus on stoping this - then the misdirection will work better, and of course the play-action...they'll probably load the box, so spread the offense out - rotate wr's and have one run deep often to keep the safeties occupied....

have cook pass the ball once early to force the defenders to cover the whole field, and not just play the run out wide....

Getting ready to make that 4.5/5 hour drive on I-35 from San Antonio to Dallas to catch the SNF game!

Hopefully the drive back Monday will be pleasant because of a VIKINGS VICTORY!!!

SKOL!!!!

I had forgotten the rule change. I think you're right. They definitely would have called it out today.

I do not follow college football at all but I watched the game and holy smokes was that a fun one...

Pertaining to NFL/Vikes here are some observations.

1) Thought the refs were really good.
It was so refreshing to watch a game played without penalties constantly slowing the game down... and part of that could be 2 teams that are good and don't commit a lot of penalties...
However, saw one play that could have easily been called PI... but ball was not catchable... no flag, no committee discussion... just move along.
Good consistent reffing... awesome.

2) Corners who got their head turned around as the ball arrives EVERY SINGLE TIME... even when they were trailing... how is this impossible to find in the NFL.

3) The gophers QB... damn... no idea if he is NFL talent wise but he played basically a flawless game... and these were not dink and dunks either... terrific play. (thought the other QB was good too... but gophers obviously forced him into a number of mistakes)

Drives me CRAZY to watch our DBs within a stride or better of the receiver and they don't turn and look - even when they reach the end zone.
