ORIGINAL: Bill Jandro Rudolph contract per sportrac 2019........9.35ml.......dead cap 9.2ml 2020....... 7.35ml.................... 5.8 2021....... 8ml..........................4.35 2022....... 8.8ml.......................2.9 2023....... 10.2ml......................1.45 I am not worried---I think he will restructure after this year. The key will be to keep the cap number down, which they did. You have his cap hit wrong for 2019....it is only 3.5 million....they reduced his cap number by 4 million by extending him. And if they cut him after the season, they are hit with $5.8 million, not $5.8+$4.35+$2.9+$1.45. They were already obligated to pay him this year, so the $5.8 million does not all represent a new obligation. Roughly a quarter of the $5.8 million is additional money that the Vikings are now obligated to pay him. It may seem like the $5.8 million is a large dead cap hit for next year, but the other possibility was to instead get hit with $4 million more this year. ??? They reduced the cap hit this year by 4 million by signing/extending him.....I don't like the contract and they can restructure but the cap hit is only 3.34 this year. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001033319/article/kyle-rudolphs-extension-clears-4m-in-cap-space#targetText=NFL%20Network%20Insider%20Ian%20Rapoport,source%20informed%20of%20the%20deal. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/minnesota-vikings/kyle-rudolph-7762/ Next year is another year to wheel and deal. Next year, the Vikings need to find a way to jettison Rhodes and his contract, and resign Waynes and Alexander to start alongside Hughes. In addition, they need to jettison Rudolph and his contract and find a way to sign at least one upgrade at Guard (yet again). Not sure Spielman and Brez can pull it off, though. The bolded part is wrong....it should be 3.5 million. looking at rudoph's contract on spotrac it looks like his 2019 cap hit is $3.5m and his 2020 cap hit is $8.8m with dead money at $5.8m.... so, if we cut him after this season we've paid $3.5m + $5.8m (dm) = $9.3m for using him this season...that's a little more than what it would have cost if we did nothing to his old deal, but we did get some present cap relief.... it's not that bad...am i missing something?.... I guess you have me on block... we paid a $1.7m cap hit next season to save a $4m cap hit this season...i guess that's about all rudolph could get in terms of an extension...no way this deal extends to 2020.... i had this deal misunderstood since they signed it - thinking it was pretty much a two-year deal - no, it's a one year deal...rudy is history next season.... No we paid 5.8 next season to save 4 this season.
