That would be an unmitigated disaster for the Never Zimmers and the Never Cousinsers crowd.

Are Hill and Hughes close at all to coming back?

They do have an extra day to do it, (Monday night game) but I have no idea.

Does anyone still want to tank for Trevor? I'm saying that the playoffs are still on.

I would like to make the playoffs and see what happens.

But, reality says our Defense has too many holes to do any kind of damage if we made it.

Dallas up 10-0 vs Pitt

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/8/2020 5:31:42 PM)

Cook on a pace for 1700 yds rushing and 26 tds. .

Bears should be a good test... we'll find out if this OL is real or not...

For me, its a hard call.

Don't think Zim / Spiels will get it done (SB) ... don't have faith in Cousins to pull it off either.

I can hope for a loss ...

– for a bad Vikings team that is hopelessly competing for worst record / best draft pick, maybe the last game or two of a miserable season.

– I can't do it for a bad team playing their asses off, even if it's to get to average.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/8/2020 7:33:09 PM)

What would you say if they finish 11-5?

Pauldiercks1 -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/8/2020 7:43:18 PM)

Absolutely I would have liked to tank for Trevor. But that option is no longer realistic so a pointless question. And I don’t mind Cousins all that much. I don’t see much has changed yet. We are playing well enough not to be a serious threat. The place I hate being more than anything. So yeah right now I’d be thrilled to have two more losses.

agreed, better Vikings teams haven't had much luck.

These celebrations in front of the big TV have got to be one of the stupidest things I've seen.

How about a young 8-8 or 9-7 team that has 4 young draft picks playing at a high level and 2-3 impact players coming back next year(from injury)?

Viking Rich -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2020 1:23:33 AM)

As goes Dalvin Cook, so go the Vikings. And lately Cook has been going, unlike most have ever gone.

Consider this: Per the NFL, Cook’s 252 yards from scrimmage in a 34-20 win over the Lions coupled with 225 yards from scrimmage in last week’s upset of the Packers, coupled with his two touchdowns today and four from last weekend, makes him only the third player in league history to have 225 or more yards from scrimmage and two or more touchdowns in consecutive games.

Jim Brown did it in 1963, and Deuce McAllister duplicated it in 2003.

Cook also matched Emmitt Smith by scoring a rushing touchdown in each of his first seven games of the season. Cook’s 12 rushing touchdowns in seven games are fourth most in league history, behind Jim Brown (14 in 1958) and Emmitt Smith and Priest Holmes, who had 13 rushing touchdowns in seven games in 1995 and 2004, respectively.

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2020 8:49:57 AM)

Easy to get sucked back in, team is totally dependent on Cook, like it was about a decade ago with AP.

Not sure its sustainable or a formula that gets you to Super Bowl but it is what it is.

Vikings still need to draft a QB high in the draft this year or next.

Cook is the focal point that is for sure but I'm not sure the team is dependent on him. Mattison had great success yesterday as well. I think the whole thing hinges on having at least an average, competent offensive line. I don't think it's a coincidence that we started winning after we finally put Cleveland in at RG instead of Elflein/Samia. Sure Cleveland is a LT but it appears he's still better at RG than the other two by about a mile. The offense is severely limited (that's putting it mildly) when the defense is in the backfield so quick so often which was happening prior to Cleveland.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2020 10:19:27 AM)

PFF gave Cleveland a rating of 59.3 yesterday for overall. 56.8 on pass blocking and 58.6 on run blocking. These grades aren't great but they're good enough. Elflein and Samia were in the 20's. I hate to say it but I think putting Elf/Samia out there cost us two wins. I'd like to know the person/people that made that evaluation and decision. They should probably change careers and sell insurance.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2020 10:20:48 AM)

Cook was our highest ranked offensive player yesterday. #2 was Mattison.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2020 11:53:29 AM)

Jeff Gladney had a @PFF_Vikings grade of 82.2! He was excellent in coverage and his tacking was very good as well.

Vikings Central on Twitter

Not bad for a rookie: Jeff Gladney leads all qualified cornerbacks in run defense grade, per PFF.

In overall grade, he's 43rd out of 76 CBs with 50% or more of snaps. But out of just rookies, he's second-best, behind only A.J. Terrell.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/9/2020 11:58:49 AM)

Question: did Irv Smith Jr. hurt himself with his touchdown celebration?

Gladney is going to be a player. Jefferson is looking very good. This draft may end up being pretty good .

I don't think so. I thought he was in for a play after that where he was blocking.

I think Mattison benefits sometimes from Ds being somewhat beat down when he comes into the game.
