Our defense sucks this year so it doesn't matter. Even if Cousins turned in to a lights out QB all of a sudden and Cook kept it up, we'd still get housed in the playoffs.

It really doesn't matter for this season anyway. We have exactly one win against another team with a winning record.

Yeah, not nearly as stout as we’ve been, However there certainly is a pretty high upside.

Young corners can improve (And have in the case of Gladney)

Wilson is making more plays then I can remember a highly over paid Anthony Barr doing.

I do worry about our DLine, but we’re even seeing guys like Armon Watts, DJ Wonnum, and Jaleel Johnson come on.

All that said your probably right once we play a team with a solid OLine we could, and probably should get housed.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/10/2020 10:45:14 AM)

Yeap. We looked great against GB and Detroit on O. Still gave up 400 (or +) yards on D.

A smart team figures out a way to take Cook out of the equation. When that happens then what? If we can continue to stay ahead of D cords, we have a chance. When we don't, there's always next year.

You beat this current Vikings team by pressuring Cousins and making him beat you.

Getting our Right Guard situation figured out might not make this as easy as it used to be.

If you're not stopping Cook, no need for Cousins to beat you.

I know it's fun to beat up on our own team, but the pukers 'have exactly one win against another team with a winning record'.

Interestingly, if WE were 6-2, it would still be 'We have exactly one win against another team with a winning record'. Well maybe not so interesting, but it is still a 'thing'.

Yes. The team is actually able to function and isn't limited to selecting plays that get rid of the ball instantly. Putting Cleveland at RG opens up all the possibilities that most teams take for granted.

Dominated SEA and came out with a loss. That might haunt us.

Stopping Cook used to be easier when Elflein/Samia was on the field. It will be harder now but that's still how opposing D's will try to stop us. They will take their chances on Cousins beating us through the air while they try to pressure him.

The Packers aren't that good. They can't stop the run. Running on them keeps their very good offense off the field.

Interestingly, WE SHOULD be 5-3 with wins over Tennessee and Seattle. Someone or a group of someones decided that Elflein//Samia was the best choice at RG which is also a 'thing'.

Yeah. Covering up for one weak G (Dozier) is doable but both G's isn't.

Yes we should have beat Sea. Tenn on the other hand. We had the ball with 2 mins left and we had a penalty and a bad snap. Not sure we can say we deserved to win that one.

With adequate play at RG throughout the game it might not have come down to that last drive.

The real litmus test comes against a good Chi defense.

If they shut down Cook which is certainly a possibility. Will Cousins man up and earn his bloated salary?

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/10/2020 1:33:01 PM)

Most Difficult NFL Schedules,
thru 9 Weeks of 2020,
among NFC Teams:

1. Vikings (.569)
2. Panthers (.558)
3. Cowboys (.534)
4. Saints (.529)
5. Lions (.515)

I remember 2 Thanksgivings ago the turkey was kind of dry.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/10/2020 2:30:33 PM)

#Vikings Dalvin Cook was the only NFL running back in Week 9 to have a 100-yard game and he had a 200-yard game with 206 (Arizona QB Kyler Murray did rush for 106).

Very nice.

Dozier also illustrating why he is the weakest link;
if he'd just kept running instead of the bizarro pirouette, he could've cleared out the dude who caught Abdullah at the goal line.

Noticed that as well

So the Vikes are undefeated with Cleveland starting at RG, let's hope that continues.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/10/2020 10:31:40 PM)

If Chicago shuts down Cook, I would bet against Cousins leading the Vikes to victory.

Then again, I am usually around 40% correct with my predictions, so there is that [:'(]

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/10/2020 10:34:53 PM)

Had the Vikes not been gifted a very windy day at Lambau, they would likely be 2-6.
