ORIGINAL: ratoppenheimer . . the media has me convinced that this is really going to happen...he's played in 28 out a possible 48 games...one year over 1000 yards - 1,134...last year he only had one game with over 100yds rushing in the last 11 games of the season...he looks incredibly dynamic when he's got it going on, but he's very very inconsistent and like most rb's needs big holes to play well - who wouldn't play well with the space that he saw early last year?...no one else would sign this guy for top money...crazy.... Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin With the draft complete, money not spent on Trent Williams and only $4.164 million of cap space needed to sign their rookie class, the Vikings are in prime position to lock up the centerpiece of their offense. A Dalvin Cook extension feels imminent. 4 year deal 10 million a year, incentives for more, 20 million in guaranteed money. I can live with that. Cook is one of the 5 best RBs in the league. Can Cook live with that? Can't pay Cook crazy money but for our scheme, he is the best RB in the league. Mattison is good to very good in this run scheme, Cook is a monster, a home run hitter. He doesn't have a a lot of mileage and due to past injuries, we should be able to get him on a team friendly, incentive laden contract. Thing is, if a guy doesn't have a lot of milage you want that to be from lack of opportunity not from bring on IR. Either way I'm pro signing him. he's only been available or 58% of the games since being drafted - one decent season out of three?...$10m/yr?...did you see that statistic where rb's were deemed worthless in the draft?...i mean, wtf?.... Last year he played 14. I don't think his missing games years 1 and 2 were due to some deficiency or injury gene. the last six games of 2019 he rushed for....26, 29, 62, 27, 0, 0.... Yup. He still picked up an annual injury, but he was able to (mostly) play through it - but he was nowhere near his normal self. He played 6 games after the injury (including the 2 Playoff games) and averaged just over 3 YPC - with a high game of 3.44. During Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys, Cook rushed 26 times for 97 yards and a touchdown and caught seven passes for 86 yards in the 28–24 road victory. He was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance. However, Cook suffered a chest injury and would have only 117 rushing yards over the next four weeks (including a Week 12 bye), though he did have one touchdown in each of his three games of limited action over that time period. Cook was forced to miss the Vikings' Week 16 game against the Packers on Monday Night Football due to his chest injury. Without Cook, the Vikings lost 23–10. So injuries significantly shortened or hampered three out of three NFL seasons. If I did the math correctly, that is 100%. KG, shouldn't that be a concern?
