Draft pick signings Minus Vikings NFL 74 out of 240
Vikings 0-15.

Vikings seem to believe that signing draft picks is optional.
In fairness there are still a lot of teams who have signed nobody, but the Vikings have the most picks to sign.

Thanks for keeping us current. One post a day on it seems about right.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (6/27/2020 6:57:35 AM)

This morning my daughter gave birth to a baby boy. I have become a grandfather. They have honored me by giving him the name Weston Bruce.

The delivery was difficult as it often is for a first born, but it was also very unusual because instead of the head coming first, the face came out first. The doctor said that that almost never happens.

Not even doing one a week. However, if you want me to I will step it up. The Patriots who "do everything right" have signed 10 of 10.

I was curious why the Chargers would be interested in Reiff and I found this:

It’s always a great sight to see Bruce Johnson in here posting fresh articles.

Welcome back again my friend.

I’m not so sure how I feel about entrusting our LT position to a rookie (Cleveland), or any holdover we currently have, however we’re going to have to roll the dice at least at a couple positions either way. Drafting seemingly 20 cornerbacks will be somewhat of a crapshoot for that position.

If Cleveland turns into this years version of Brian O’Neiil’s rookie campaign we might just be alright.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (6/27/2020 2:05:39 PM)

I believe most of the coaches have never even met Cleveland, yet. It's hard to trust him. With all the money that Reiff is getting paid you hate to make him a backup.

On the other hand, nickel corner is like a specialty position. You can't just put any corner there. All our corners are so young and one with experience back there would be very helpful for one season, again especially if there is a limitrd off-season.

I have no problem with Bradbury. I think he will be a star.

The Desmond King rumor mill is starting to churn again.

Nick Olson@NickOlsonNFL
If there's any truth to these rumors about Desmond King to the Vikings, that would be incredible.

move o'neill to the left side - he played lt as a senior in college and he's a remarkable athlete - it's less risky imo....

if we traded reiff we'd save $6.5m this season...maybe we spend $5m/yr on a two-year guard deal - leary or warford....

Plus we have more RT types waiting in the wings AKA Uli Udoh, hopefully he's not the next Ndudi Ebi.

That's a lot of change along the offensive line. Time to reboot?

whatever makes us better...i think that younger and more athletic tackles are a better way to go...i think that better guards are not that difficult to achieve....

zimmer is going to be spending a lot of his training camp time with his new cb's...i am hopeful that he'll hand over the reins to the o-line to dennison and kubiak....

i just noticed that ac patterson is our 'offensive quality control' coach...i'm assuming that andre's kid....

I imagine that early in training camp there will be more experimentation putting players in different positions. Part of that is to prepare for the most likely event that injuries will come and some position flexibility may prove to be very helpful. In addition, the coaches will be evaluating the players and formulating their opinions over who are the five best players for starting and where they can be positioned to succeed. As the preseason continues, they will settle things down so that those players can focus on their responsibilities at their playing positions and work on being cohesive as a unit.

I personally like Oli Udoh a lot. He brings size and physicality that we were lacking vs the more physical defensive lines like the Bears and Packers. I would like to see him at RG. I know most people see Samia there and I say let them compete and let the best man win the job. As for the LG position, I just don't know. It may depend the development of Cleveland. I actually don't see him being ready for game one as a starter, so I see Reiff as LT and the guard filled by Elflein or Dozier whoever competes the better.

It's really up in the air. I found this article about the possible o-line combinations. It is one of the things we'll have to focus on when training camp begins.

Here's a video showing Cousins running out of the pocket in Washington and suggesting that he do more of that as a Viking.

no...i don't see him running any more than he does now...he's the type of runner that will get himself hurt...he puts himself in a position to take harder shots than he should - he can't avoid hard hits....

he runs awkwardly and stiff - it's just not natural for him....

Well stated, although I could see it at a critical time when the game is on the line and a third down conversion is needed. That may be a bit of a red herring, though.

Bruce - your daughter was so cool to time the delivery of your grandson for AFTER you came home from the hospital. [:D]

Congratulations on the addition to your family.

for sure...sometimes he'll just have to do it - like favre failed to do against the saints...cousins will run for a first down every couple of games...but many times it's looked like he's had plenty of room only for the tackler to beat him to the spot and deliver a hard hit on him....
