I am officially calling Bullshit on the 2020-2021 season being anything.. it will not be played..

Healthy smart athletes with families, will avoid close contact with the possibly asymptomatic carriers of COVID.

No amount of money, to those who truely love their families and friends would willingly risk becoming exposed and a source vector for death and illness.

Only the greedy and selfish and desperate to get “ mo money”.. would put “love of the game” above public and team health and safety.

Nothing points out the basic flaw of greed above all else than reopening businesses and putting on sports spectacles to appease the masses who are bored and fidgety.

Welcome to Caligula, 2020 version.

I think your point has merit. I'd say that you underestimate the competitive fire of many of the players. These players use PEDs like they're candy. There was once an anonymous survey handed out to pro athletes in the four major sports that asked if they'd trade ten years of their lives for one title. The majority said 'yes'.

Lots of trade-offs to consider. Factor in that the average NFL career is 3.3 years. Not easy for many to forgo an NFL salary for a year.

Think of all the players on the bubble of making a roster. Most players(without serious underlying conditions), who have not cashed in on a nice contract yet, will take the small risk that Covid presents to them and try to make a roster.

I think players are more at risk walking into kwik trip than they are at team facilities.

Yep. With all the testing that will be available to these guys, they will be fine.

If they do get it, they will be on the best drugs right away and have an overwhelming chance of a quick recovery.

Ludford weighs in on future cuts. I'm thinking it's fortunate that our team has so many draft picks and UDFA's.

Rudy, Reiff, Barr might be gone in 2021. Should be fine without them.

Players get paid if they opt out of this season.

Details on two types of opt-outs, which are irrevocable and due 7 days from NFL-NFLPA deal being finalized:

- High risk: $350,000 stipend with no offset, accrued/credited season

- Voluntary: $150,000 salary advance, no accrued/credited season

Either way, contract tolls.

(Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

Contracts of players who don't play this year should Toll. Good job NFLPA and NFL. Just a little money to tide the opt outs through. Goof Job NFLPA and NFL.

Ridiculous. Cook should simply realize that the team offering him the most money and with the best situation is the Vikings. $10 million a year. Git R Dun.

Exactly, what do these guys risk that most of us risk on a daily basis?

I’m just as concerned getting this thing as anybody (Player, staff, or front office)

I certainly don’t want to put my family at risk by me seeing up to 35 different offices weekly all over Southern California in some of the hottest spreading cities in the US, that are not monitored at all let alone the ultra tested/sanitized settings that the NFL community will face.

And you probably won't know you have it in your system for a few days. And then wait on a test that could take another week.

These guys will know within 24 hours of contraction and will spare no cost for treating it.

I can relate.

My last check at work was a buy-out check due to my retirement. The gross amount was $23,738.40. My net was $14,457.93. Federal deduction $6,034.48

I said to my business manger, "I thought you said it was going to get worse when a democrat took office? I didn't think we elected one yet." He said it'll be another thousand when we do. ;)

Seriously, I knew what the gross amount was going to be since February but boy was it a buzz kill to see the net last week.

The NFLPA told players tonight 12 rookies have tested positive for COVID-19 leaguewide in the initial round of screening, per source.

(Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

Well, once they get all the players locked down in the NFL bubble with all the associated precautions, then the cases should be about zero. Or so I've read here.

Even worse that the U.S. government is not a good steward of those tax dollars, IMO. U.S. has spent $6.4 trillion on wars mainly in the Middle East since 2001. Has it been worth it? You be the judge.

Well at least they’ll be able to close that sucker down quickly after the 12 players get tested every 10 minutes.

Mike Zimmer on a conference call with Twin Cities reporters says of 4-year deal was "very important" to him, didn't doubt would get done even though pandemic and some hard negotiations prolonged the process. Said no determinations on how long he'll coach; turned 64 in June.

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Zimmer said the length of his 3 year deal is a “perfect scenario” because of his age. If he would’ve signed a one-year extension and things not worked out, Zimmer noted the difficulty of getting another head coaching job at 66.

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Zimmer says the Vikings will have to be “innovative” in the way they evaluate young players given no preseason games and a limited number of padded practices.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer: "Offensively, we're" a "veteran group now.''

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
With the #Vikings having so many rookies, they might want to hang on to some even if they're not ready to play until perhaps midseason. "We may end up letting a second-year guy go,'' said Mike Zimmer.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer on his players: "When they ask me to do something for them social justice wise, I'm going to be there for them.''

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
Mike Zimmer says Vikings haven't talked about potential kneeling during the national anthem.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer on if Everson Griffen could return: "I'd love to have him back. He's always been one of my guys. If that happens, it would be great. But I don't know where that's at right now.''

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Zimmer said he expects Dalvin Cook to report to camp on Tuesday in spite of his camp pledging a holdout back in June until her reaches a contract extension because Cook told him he would be.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Everson Griffen texted him to congratulate him on his contract extension.
