Well I sure hope Adam Thielen and Harrison Smith are prepared to wear masks all season. Idiots.

Has the vaccine been made available to all Americans yet?
They're young and healthy. They are probably on the bottom of the priority list for the vaccine.

Since mid-April, it's been open for everyone.

At this point, like twinsfan said, he can choose his manufacturer. And probably get a shot same day.

I'm 62 and have diabetes. I chose to get the vaccine. Mid April was when the vaccine was made available to me. Then the month wait for the second shot. Then the is it 2 weeks for full efficacy?
There appears to be a credible concern regarding the vaccination causing myocarditis in people under 30. If somebody chooses not to get the vaccine I wouldn't call them idiots. However, they have to suffer the consequences of their choice.

I know someone in a comparable risk group, and she only got her shot a few weeks before it opened up for everyone. Plus local availability varied. it was easier to get appointments in Red counties.

For Pfizer, the official schedule is 21 days between the first shot and second shot, +2 weeks to fully vaccinated. Moderna is 28 days. Locally (Walgreens), the Pfizer shot was given with a 28 day interval. From the data I've seen, you're significantly protected about 10-12 days after the first shot. And from experience in other countries, the second shot can be delayed months (not recommended by Pfizer/Moderna, but data suggests it might generate a better immune response — then again, going from amazing to extra amazing isn't a good reason for the wait, if the doses are available).

For young men, the myocarditis data isn't strong enough to link it to the mRNA vaccines. In that population, the background rate of myocarditis is large enough that it's hard to confirm a small signal — that it'll take more data tells you it can't be a big effect. Example: if you'd expect 200 cases, and you see 220, that addition 20 might just be statistical noise. And 95% of the reported cases are extremely mild and resolve quickly. It's not a significant concern (about the mRNA vaccines).

Thank you. I'm not a COVID scholar by any means. I just want this crap to all be over and done with and life returning to pre COVID times. Unfortunately I don't think it will ever happen.

Yea, perhaps he's looking at the amount of people who have had adverse reactions. I lost a very close friend who died just hours after taking his second shot. I know that millions of shots have been given, but over 5,000 people have died after getting the shot, so perhaps he wants to do the best research he can before he makes this decision. I know it's not vogue to think for yourself any more, but the way the medical community has vacillated on this issue, people have a right to be cautious and not just blindly follow the crowd. If a person has received the shot, why the f@!# do they care what someone else does?

So sorry to hear about your loss. I had no idea some people were dying possibly due to the vaccination. On the other hand I'm pretty sure a lot more would be dying without the Vaccination.

Dana Turner -> RE: General Vikes Talk (6/16/2021 1:51:00 PM)

It's great to welcome back Richardson, he was a force here in 2018 and I'm sure he will be a fine addition to the defensive packages going forward. I am really impressed with the mix of youth and veterans they have assembled. It's going to be a highly competitive camp this year and it will be interesting to see who makes the 53. I also like that we will have 16 players on the practice squad!

Thank you KG. It is what it is, but yes, not a lot chatter out there about people dying after taking the shot/shots, but apparently it does happen, just like adverse reactions to other medications. Again, the "statistics" favor taking the shot, but nobody can blame people for making an informed decision.

I had my DOT physical on Monday. My doctor told me they've had zero cases of influenza this year - and I believe no cases of strep but now that the masks have come off they are seeing colds and other things pick up

Yea Ricky, we are bound to see a rise in these types of illnesses as we move on from masks. Remember, it is perfectly fine for people to wear masks if they feel the need. I lived for three years in China and three years in Taiwan, people wear masks there all the time, it is not unusual. It's your health and the way you take care of yourself is up to the individual.

Just what it sounds like to me.

No way someone talks like that if they got vaccinated.

I worry about it dividing the team.

It's my only worry with this team.

I don't know how religious Adam and Smith are but I'm guessing they line up with Cousins...the certain type of religious goober that's against vaccination.

Over a billion shots have been given. I'm not going to get into the causation aspect/discussion. I'm also very sorry for your loss.

There is a very strong case for why we should care if someone has received their shot. Herd immunity. Without it, the risk of new and potentially more deadly/infectious variants goes up. 1 women had 32 mutations of the virus in her body when she was symptomatic for several months. I'm personally terrified on what could evolve out of the India pandemic.

We could undo all the work we've done and with that the pain/suffering of the pandemic to include death, chronic illness, financial ruin, mental health illness, etc etc.

It literally could be a race between herd immunity and a new variant that sets us back to ground zero.

Anyone here know, has Tom Brady been vaccinated ?

Oh good god ... inevitable ...

So far during the pandemic, Brady has only started for the grocery store four times before having to return to his car for his mask.

Cousins has forgotten his mask in the car sixteen times during the pandemic. One of those times he tried to enter the store using a 'prayer shield' (a combination of prayer and shaking a box of Hot Tamales) but was asked to leave.

Very funny Tom, but I was talking about getting vaccinated, not wearing masks.

As someone stated, those players not getting vaccinated could lead to division in the team, a schism.

I was wondering about Brady, because he has a tendency to do things right as far as for team chemistry. I also thought he might be one to not vaccinate, since I read somewhere that he was a Trump supporter.

Pretty Sure Trump was Vaccinated; especially after he got the Vids. Getting the shot is a personal preference.....no necessarily a political preference as some want you to think.

On the bright side, Cousins was among league leaders at QB in mask wearing in the final two minutes of a half. In these frenetic periods where the masks of players like Mahomes, Brady, and Rodgers were sagging below the nose or completely off, Cousins consistently wore his high and tight.
