Did we cut G Kyle Hinton?

No. I've heard the team is high on him. He's got a low cap number, too.

Spotrac has him as released. Must be a mistake.

He was briefly on the practice squad, but came back to the 53 in late December. Actually, I'm not sure how long he was on the practice squad. I just went to his Twitter page and it looks like he's a Viking.

I know that I'm repeating myself here, but I just would like to say that I like the idea of getting a free agent DT instead of one through the draft. I believe that tackles improve with age as their bodies mature. It's a position that relies on size and strength- more than any other position. Rookies are coming from college campuses where they had to also focus on classes and many of them are just 21 years old if they are Juniors. The impact from picking up Tomlinson will be more in year one than reaching for a tackle in the draft.

Cousins can restructure again, Brady has restructured many times.

You or anyone else could give money for nothing to a billionaire. Who has permanently given up money among all of these virtue-monger QBs and others? If you want Kirk to restructure at this point, you want him to be the Vikings' QB well into the future.

Yes...but look at the bite in future years. Same with Ben, Brees (who signed a new contract before he retired).

+1 Bruce.....it worked with Joseph and Pat Williams. (Do what you do best).

If there is a Cousins restructure it will be after the season. He only counts $21M against the cap next season. They will want to restructure after the year to avoid the $45 million dollar hit that comes after it.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/17/2021 6:40:21 PM)

Maybe old school Zim isn't such a bad philosophy. With QB salaries rising we're not that far from the 1st 50 mil/per QB. Yes the sc keeps going up but guys who aren't even elite, or proven are going to be demanding a huge % of it. Maybe bucking the curve gives you as much a chance as having THE guy behind center. Not everyone's gonna be the guy and it can cripple you chasing one and even limit you if you have one.

I think it would have netted at least one division title and a run out of the last 3 years.

Vikings signing Patrick Peterson?

https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2021/03/17/report-vikings-signing-former-cardinals-cb-patrick-peterson/

Viking Rich -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/18/2021 3:39:45 AM)

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Vikings are signing former Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson to a one-year, $10 million deal. Peterson is a three-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler.

Viking Rich -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/18/2021 3:50:14 AM)

Is an offer still on the table for Alexander?

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/18/2021 7:15:10 AM)

Can I ask you guys a crazy question?

Have you ever felt like if you do good, give up something bad, maybe even really bad, or maybe do something reallyreally good, that the universe will finally stop ****ing with us and we'll see the Vikings finally win it all?

Maybe I'm just Captain me world over here

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/18/2021 7:16:41 AM)

They've done nothing recently to slow my roll i can tell you that.

I absolutely have. I often have thought that somehow I am responsible. I know it's crazy, right?

Pretty sure he counts for $31M for 2021 and $45M for 2022; at least that's what Spotrac says.

My bad. That's the second time, I got caught looking at the cap savings column instead of cap number column with Cousins. I still don't see a scenario where Cousins restructures until after the season. He has said as much and he has all of the leverage.

I'll give up thinking you guys are nutzo.[:'(] That ought to get us a game or so.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/18/2021 11:44:56 AM)

The Adam Thielen restructure we've been reporting all week is done; he converted his $11.1M base salary into a $1.1M base and a $10M signing bonus. Cap hit drops to $5.968M for 2021.

My youngest brother usually refuses to watch the Vikes on television because he's convinced that they lose when he does. Even if the game is on local Chicago networks, he will listen to the game while sitting in his car.

Maybe the wishbone offense? Worked well for the Sooners. But those QBs could RUN... Thomas Lott, Jamelle Hollieway, J.C. Watts.
