I smell moves in the air.

What does that smell like? Bacon? Popcorn?

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/11/2022 7:52:14 AM)

Maple bacon caramel popcorn balls.

I don't want to be on the other side of this losing the best 3 of those 4 with Cousins staying as an it is what it is thing. It can't be them and Cousins or they lied about being competitive next year.

People might question what getting rid of your starting qb means but most fans won't. The big 3 would feel like gutting the team where as getting rid of Cousins and that contract makes sense.

Rich business owners lying to their customer base about the quality of their product before they purchase? I know there is rampant hijinks going on at all times in Canada so the rich can pile their money as high as the CN Tower, but here in the U.S. we only reward hard work and virtue.

Former Minnesota Vikings corner and first-round draft pick Jeff Gladney was found not guilty Thursday by a jury after being indicted last year by a grand jury in Dallas on a felony charge after a female acquaintance alleged he assaulted her @PFN365

i wonder if there are any league rules about 'players' rights' for the drafting team?....there should be - we should file a grievance with the league....

Why? We weren’t forced to cut him.

i understand that, but it seems that the commissioner's exempt list is somewhat arbitrary and i wonder if the league had recommended that we cut gladney....

it seems that the vikings did what was better for the NFL, the league as a whole, and i don't think they shouldn't be punished for that....

The Vikings could have suspended him and chose not to. They did what they thought was best for them from a PR standpoint and burned themselves, or maybe they knew he did it but he got off because the case wasn't made. The Vikings are not victims here.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/11/2022 8:53:12 AM)

Some Doogie Wolfson says we've offered Cousins a contract extension.

I heard that. He mentioned that the Vikings offered Cousins an extension on their terms, i.e a reasonable contract in line with Cousins abilities, which was rejected as Kirk wants to continue to be grossly overpaid for his production. Sounds like Kirk either plays out the final year of his deal or gets traded, but an extension isn't happening. Thankfully.

Makes sense.

Do you think it's a given that we'll at least chop it in half by adding a void year?

I was listening to another sports show a while back and they brought up Cousins contract. Apparently, the Vikings can't alter the deal in any way unless Cousins signs off on it. History says that his camp is going to offer zero relief to the team. Of all of Cousins faults, this is probably the one that is most aggravating. He's the ultimate me guy, who doesn't care about his team or his place in football history. He just wants to make as much money as possible above all else. He's the antithesis of what team sports are all about, and what's great about being part of a team in general.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/11/2022 9:30:14 AM)

Seems like the antithesis of being a good Christian above all else.

Easy for you to say, you’re not being chased by Egyptians.

Seriously, I make a lot of fun of Cousins … even though I can’t possibly know whats going on in his head or heart … but there is a huge disconnect between the man of faith persona and his actions.

It chafes me.

If he were to sign with Dallas, I would smell a conspiracy.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/11/2022 10:07:45 AM)

Completely unsourced, unfounded, nonverified report is that the Vikes offered Cousins an extremely team friendly extension with the intention of keeping him if reasonable and exonerating themselves of blame if he refuses it. "We made him an attractive offer" will be the line if they are questioned about moving on from him. Honestly it's probably the smart and correct thing to do.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/11/2022 10:23:06 AM)

As it turns out, apparently Gladney is the victim.
