From warren sharp’s Twitter:

the Vikings allowed TDs on 32.4% of opponent drives in the final 4 minutes before halftime or the end of the game

worst in the NFL

NFL average was 12%

#31 was 20.6%

not only did they rank #32 in the NFL last season...

they ranked #686 of 686 teams since at least 2000

fixing that part of our game would equate to 2-4 more victories...we were 50% worse than the 2nd to worst team...unbelievable....

That 32.4% I believe set a record for the all time "best" in that category. If I remember correctly, topping the previous standard the Vikings set in 2020.

.
.
Twyman was shot four times while in the area visiting family. That cost Twyman all of what would have been his rookie season, but his NFL career is now back on the right track.

Twyman hasn’t played in a football game of any sort since 2019, when he put together an outstanding season at Pittsburgh, collecting 10.5 sacks and gaining some steam as a potential high draft pick. After opting out of the 2020 college football season due to COVID concerns, however, his stock dropped, allowing the Vikings to grab him in the sixth round. He was a part of some of the Vikings’ initial OTAs last season, but the June shooting put him on the shelf for the entire 2021 season while he recovered.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Twyman has to offer. He might project well as a 3-4 DE who can move inside when they shift to a 4-man DL.

League rules last year meant players would’ve had to buy up all their available jerseys in order to switch numbers. Dalvin Cook said it would’ve cost him $1.2 million to switch from 33 to 4. So he waited until this season when there’s no penalty.

Are there going to be any numbers left over for Kickers, punters and QBs after the WRs, TEs, CBs, RB etc take them all up?

Will the next great QB wear number 87?

Kyle Sloter continues to win:

https://sports.yahoo.com/former-vikings-qb-leads-team-125852833.html

He may not be good enough to beat the outstanding talent in Mannion, but maybe the new regime would give Kyle a chance to compete for the backup QB position ?

Marty Sloter will be available all season.....to be our 4th or fifth QB.

Sloter, who has been released by SIX NFL teams, is of course his top target.

Hey, he is the best second half of a preseason game QB in the NFL.

Interesting Takes on two Vikes:
https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-101-top-101-players-from-2021-nfl-season

21. WR JUSTIN JEFFERSON, MINNESOTA VIKINGS
2021 Snaps: 965 | 2021 PFF Grade: 90.4
Jefferson’s rookie season was so incredible that some kind of regression seemed inevitable in Year 2. Instead, the Vikings pass-catcher backed it up with another outstanding year. He averaged 2.59 yards per route run and put up over 1,600 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, ranking fourth in the NFL in targets among wide receivers. Jefferson is already a complete receiver and one of the most devastating players in the league at the position.

PFF 101 Rank, 2020: 15

41. QB KIRK COUSINS, MINNESOTA VIKINGS
2021 Snaps: 1,030 | 2021 PFF Grade: 89.6
So much focus is on where Cousins falls short that we often fail to recognize just how good he has been in Minnesota and his impressive continual improvement. He finished the regular season with the No. 5-ranked quarterback grade and dropped to No. 6 by the end of the playoffs. Cousins was one of the most accurate passers in the game, with a top-10 big-time throw rate and turnover-worthy play rate. He is not one of the very best passers in the game, but he might be the best of the next tier.

PFF 101 Rank, 2020: unranked

QBs ranked above him (Joe Burrow 6, Tom Brady 9, Josh Allen 14, Aaron Rodgers 18, Herbert 25)

What was always assumed is now a lock to happen with today the deadline: I hear that the #Vikings have declined the 5th-year option on center Garrett Bradbury.

Calling Tretter....

We should have 7-8M in cap space after rookies. All but 3 rookies shouldn't count against cap because they aren't Top 51.

Can he pass a physical?

Also, if you waited to sign him now, it doesn't count against you when they figure out Compensatory Picks.

Declining the option is a growing trend in the NFL. It's happened about 3-4 in the past 48 hours. The Steelers declined Devin Bush. Giants Daniel Jones. Raiders Josh Jacobs, Johnathan Abram and Clelin Ferrell. Just to name a few. Of the first round picks from 2019, 11 of them have already been declined options by their respective teams.

Bradbury was scheduled to jump about $11-million in 2023 to $13-million base salary and his dead cap would have been very high.

Raiders and Giants have new coaches and GMs. They aren't invested in those players.

Bush and Bradbury just haven't been very good.

Not necessarily. I just glanced at the top 100 free agents still available and there are a lot of big names still available. Bulk of the top 100 are 30+ old.
