Source: At least 12 teams have called to express interest in trading for #Vikings backup RB Alexander Mattison, who's entering final year of his contract & isn't going to sign an extension anytime soon. But Vikings would want good value if they move him:

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/29/2022 1:52:25 PM)

We'll get a 4th unless a team tries to outbid with a 3rd.

From today's paper, ex-#Vikings OL Mike Harris is back on their sideline, having been named NFL uniform inspector for home team games at U.S. Bank Stadium. He was the road team inspector last 3 years, role now taken by ex-Gophers, Vikings DT Ben Williams.

LMAO

Id like to be able to put that on my resume

I prefer my role with the FBI--- Female Body Inspector

Being a doc does have its privileges im sure

Can't get a center instead?

Let's hope one gets offered...

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/29/2022 2:09:41 PM)

I know Mattison is no Kaare Vedvik (place kicker we borrowed fir a 5th) or Chris Herndon (TE for a 4th) but I want a 3rd anyway.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/29/2022 2:19:59 PM)

Last offseason the Patriots got a 2023 fourth-round pick to go with the 2022 sixth-rounder for Sony Michel entering the final year of his deal.

I would think we'd get less for Mattison as he isn't as proven:

Michel: 3 years, 38 games, 28 starts: 535 carries, 2292 yards (4.3 Y/A), 14 TDs. 26 receptions, 258 yards (9.9 Y/R), 1 Ts.

Mattison: 3 years, 42 games, 6 starts: 330 carries, 1387 yards (4.2 Y/A), 6 TDs. 32 receptions, 228 yards (7.9 Y/R), 2 TDs.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/29/2022 2:25:53 PM)

How’s that Strib projection of the final 53 working out, Rick.

I said no, to your question, because I Know better than to try and out guess a new coach and GM based on 1 draft and three crappy Preseason games, and I am a curmudgeon…

Might be better off letting him go to FA, see what we can get as recompensation picks

What do you do with the other 3 quality backs? The reason they will trade him is the have 2 good backups and Ham.

Also if you get compensation now; no injury risk.

We'll be lucky to get a 6th unless Cook misses half the season:

The factors that go into calculating compensatory selections are the player’s average annual salary, playing time, and postseason honors. Salary is the main factor, with playing time having the second-most weight, and postseason awards the final component.

This is crazy, but true. Chandler is a rookie and Mattison begins his 4th year in the league. Mattison born 6/29/1998, Chandler born 5/12/98. Mattison is also younger than Kene Nwangwu (2/9/98).

Well, i figured it was one of those reasons ;/
And i get it. Am i supposed to know if they are keeping 4 rb, 6 wr?
The only play ive seen so far this year was an incredible punt that i hope gets repeated a few times. And im assuming this guy held for an unrecognized team record 58 yd fg.

Im not that savvy.
I did say assume .... based on he's a punter, lots of punters hold - but id like to know, too, especially with all the concerned posts regarding the matter post pick-up

Some chatter on #Vikings RB Alexander Mattison, I'm told per league sources, while Minnesota isn't actively shopping him, the team is certainly listening to offers. #NFL

Would need to be a strong offer considering Mattison would likely contribute to a compensatory pick in 2024

Mattison would need to get a top ten contract at RB and play a bell cow share of snaps to get even compensatory 5th I’d think.

I like Mattison but I’d move him for a 4th readily imho.

4th round pick is my price also. Nothing less.

The #Dolphins released RB Sony Michel.

That likely removes 1 suitor.

Arif Hasan, not a psyop 🧑‍💼@ArifHasanNFL
The T.Y. McGill release was announced as a move to reserve/injured (along with Bisi Johnson) so it sounds like the ankle injury was serious. Reminder that designating someone to return requires that they be on the 53-man roster after initial cutdown. Both are out for the season.
