Quarterback Cousins lit up the Seattle defense in the first half, completing 16 of 20 passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns. He tallied an 82.0 passing grade over the first 30 minutes of play, averaging 9.3 yards per attempt with an adjusted completion percentage of 94.4%. His success carried into the second half when he posted a 72.0 passing grade and 142 yards. Running Back Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook was ruled out prior to Sunday’s matchup, so Minnesota was forced to lean on Alexander Mattison. One of the premiere fantasy football handcuffs, Mattison handled 75% percent of the carries and bullied the Seahawks, racking up 57 yards after contact. Receivers Justin Jefferson dominated every statistical category for Minnesota Sunday afternoon, tallying nine receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. Adam Thielen salvaged his fantasy day with a touchdown and finished with five catches on seven targets. KJ Osborn operated as the third receiver in the offense, totaling 31 snaps, while Tyler Conklin paced the tight end room with 70 yards. Offensive Line The Vikings offensive line held up fairly well in pass protection, posting a 76.9 pass-blocking grade as a unit. It allowed three sacks and 10 QB pressures on the afternoon. Tackle Brian O’Neill led the way, posting an 83.8 pass-blocking grade and a clean sheet on 39 pass-blocking snaps. He didn’t allow a single pressure on Cousins. The unit struggled a bit in run protection, though, posting an average 53.4 run-blocking grade. Defensive Line While Minnesota’s defensive line wasn’t exactly the Purple People Eaters Sunday, it was still effective, notching a 78.7 pass-rushing grade and 66.7 run-defense grade. Edge rusher Danielle Hunter paced the unit with an 85.0 pass-rushing grade, tallying eight QB hurries on 35 pass-rushing snaps. Linebackers It was the Eric Kendricks show in the Vikings' linebacker room. Kendricks boasted an elite pass-rushing grade of 90.0, getting home for a sack on Wilson on one of his three pass-rushing snaps. He totaled 10 tackles (zero missed tackles) on the afternoon — four more tackles than the next-best linebacker, Nick Vigil. Secondary As usual, Harrison Smith led a below-average secondary. The former Golden Domer posted a 77.1 coverage grade on 36 coverage snaps and didn’t allow a catch. The same cannot be said for cornerbacks Patrick Peterson and Bashaud Breeland, though. Peterson finished with a 51.7 coverage grade, allowing four receptions for 70 yards and five first downs on six targets. Just returned to the east coast after spending the week with family in La Crescent MN. Beautiful fall weather, great golf and food, absolute best. US wins the Ryder cup and the Vikes beat the hags. I called the win during the week and my family thought I was crazy. We have the makings of a good team. Not great but good. My problem with this, like the rest of you, is we settle for good and not great. Just getting by has been a hallmark of Viking football for too long. One good game will not erase the long list of front office blunders and coaching errors. I always hope for the best, but another year of just getting by is one year too many. Change is coming one way or another.

That sequence was one of only two negatives in the second half. Honestly, I don't know why they continue to throw screens to Thielen. He just isn't good at them. That last one was the more successful of the two that they threw him yesterday because it didn't lose yardage. The other negative was the receiver getting 10 yards behind our secondary on the Hail Mary pass. Luckily the throw was late and Harrison Smith got away with a blatant pass interference. Thielen's strengths are superior route running and great hands to catch the ball. Running after the catch is not his strong suit. So they should never design a play where it is dependent on him to run after the catch. Sideline routes, Endzone, first down throws TO THE STICKS all great to use Theilen for. Little dump passes and screens and end arounds, not a good a idea. Throwing the ball behind the LOS under a condensed field is never a good idea. Coaching 101

I don't think the Bengals nor Cardinals will finish last in their divisions, they can put on points and are teams on the rise. I am wondering if the Chiefs will get out of the funk that many SB losers seem to get the following season ??

If we keep playing like we aren't totally confused about why we're on a football field, I think we have a chance to be a good team. I'm hopeful and cautiously optimistic.

Dantzler was awful in pre season. Burned constantly and had no interest in tackling. This is on Dantzler, not Zimmer.

CBs often have trouble adapting to Zimmer's system (Captain Munnerlyn springs to mind), so who knows where the problem lies. I, too, always keep in mind what we've seen forever with the cushions and the holes in coverage. But I also remember the amount of resources dedicated to the secondary, and how little it has yielded over the years---especially yielded anything that endures. I was really happy with the win on Sunday, but I have a feeling that Seattle is really bad right now, and the Vikings (especially the defense, which benefited tremendously from drops/missed passes/non-calls) might not be close to how they appeared against Seattle.

The problem still is that Dantzler may be the best man to man cover CB but Boyd and Breeland can run defend also and play multiple coverages better. There will be injuries and Dantzler will get time.

I don't know if danceler came into this season thinking he had it made in the shade, or if you thought he was just going to be the next Dion. Seem to recall last year he was pretty effective at knifing in and breaking up short plays like screens and that sort of thing

Dantzler seems like a Freelancer… A definite no, no in zimmerball. Breeland sticks to his assignment, he just flat out sux in coverage, as shown by 9 targets against.. 9 receptions against. I think a bushy pine tree on rollers could get at least one P D…
