Somewhat lost in the hoopla is the fact that Dantzler didn't play.

he is on IR, he wont play for several games

I know. He didn't play... and we still won. He is not a superstar but is pretty key in the secondary.

Evans has shown with a small sample size...

Booth...not so much...

I am interested in what next year looks like, but that is a Convo for another day

Justin Jefferson had seven contested catches in yesterday's game, according to PFF. Only 17 receivers have seven contested catches the entire season.

Unlike Jefferson, none of them had to reach back through a rib cage and yank out the heart of their enemy.

Good teams are starting to play better.

I have been tamping down my expectations ... the first half of the season is a free for all and hard to gauge ... I think we have caught people at the right time.

And done remarkably well as inconsistent as we've been.

We are obviously contenders but IMO we can't rely on first drive energy / end of game resilience to be serious contenders. (That's right, I'm still not satisfied at 8-1 lol) It's just so unorthodox. And nerve racking.

I don't know if its that, we march out of the tunnel and score so easily - that we settle in after ... lull ourselves into a mindset ... come down from our opening adrenaline spike ... I don't know.

I'm so used to hammering on Cousins I could blame him but I don't think that's it. He's a very different player this year ... timing his output to win games (instead of operating on a stat sheet).

Is it coaching / playcalling / adjustments ... are we coming out to score fast then changing gears to establish our gameplan / strategy?

Outside of the first drive, we seem to have to be pushed into a corner. Counter-punchers. Not sure we've figured out the whole killer instinct thing.

I just placed a $100 wager on the Vikings winning outright. Screw the pointspread.

NFL Week 11 Power Rankings 2022: 1-32 poll, hot seat update

3. Minnesota Vikings (8-1)

Week 10 ranking: 4

Who was on the hot seat in preseason: C Garrett Bradbury
Temperature of seat right now: Cold

The Vikings' new leadership group committed to evaluating Bradbury this season, and he has rewarded that decision. Bradbury has played all but two snaps and ranks No. 10 in ESPN Analytics' run block win rate metric. As for concern about past struggles in pass protection, he ranks No. 17 in the pass block win rate metric. Add it all up, and Bradbury has been an above-average center in 2022 and is on his way to being a priority free agent this winter. -- Kevin Seifert

I see in the Vikes last 8 games, all 5 non division games are at home, all 3 division games are on the road.

My takes on Kirk…
1. He’s feeling the pressure better and moving out of the pocket.
2. Taking more chances downfield, might be more int, but makes him a better QB
3. The fun he’s having with his teammates is big, teammates love it. He’s being a leader.
Proud of these guys

o'connell talking to pete bercich about bills' game.....

"...obviously, we did not get to the point where we could just flat-out win the game in overtime; that tends to happen when the defense is allowed to play with twelve men at times, but we'll continue to work on a good play for first and goal from the two against twelve guys on the field, I'm working on that right now...."

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/15/2022 4:13:39 PM)

Bears will be first team eliminated from its division with a loss and a Vikings win

Right now, every NFL team is still mathematically alive in its division. After Sunday’s games, the Bears might not be.

The Bears would be eliminated from the NFC North race if they lose on Sunday and the Vikings win, via NFLPlayoffScenarios.com.

A loss on Sunday would drop the Bears to 3-8, and a win on Sunday would improve the Vikings to 9-1. That would mean the best-case finish for the Bears would be tying the Vikings at 9-8. But in that scenario, the Bears and Vikings would be tied in the first two tiebreakers, head-to-head and division record, and the Vikings would finish ahead of the Bears via the third tiebreaker, conference record. So if the Bears lose and the Vikings win on Sunday, the Bears cannot win the NFC North.

That’s the only playoff elimination scenario possible for Week 11. Every other team is guaranteed to remain alive in its division — mathematically, at least — for another week.

I do see some riskier throws and I do agree that a few more mistakes are worth a more aggressive approach (not sure if he's on pace for more TOs than last year, it doesn't matter only the results matter).

Part of it is just confidence ... obviously more enabled / relaxed by this staff, seems less worried about disappointing people.

He has two runs this year putting his head down at the end that look like a different Kirk from the multiverse.

The biggest change I see is somebody that's not wound up too tightly before games, fixated during games on regurgitating the plays the way they are drawn up on a chalkboard. IMO he seems more outward facing than inward facing, than before.

He's still a nerd.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/15/2022 8:07:23 PM)

What I like about Cousins this year is he's not being schooled regarding INT's and is giving JJ a chance to go get jump balls. His INT's are up but so are our wins.

I also think Z Smith has had an enormous influence in the locker room in Cousins favor.

It feels much different than Zimmers negativity and turtle game plan.

I think it's more that we have been trailing in just about every 2nd half, and it's come down to make a play, or go home.

Yes, I have expressed exactly that in response to a few of the pure KC haters. He may be a mixed bag as a QB but he's our mixed bag.

IMO he still is a mixed bag. But this year, the job has been getting done and he deserves a lot of credit.

And ... removing some of his own starch has allowed him to rebrand himself – from an insufferable plywood nerd – to a goofball who can laugh at himself. Big difference.

There is still a lot of football to be played but I'm starting to raise my expectations.

Well, not quite yet. But soon.
