And, that being said, they were probably the best of the 3 units 😳

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2023 9:01:43 PM)

Oh no the giants! Oh no the road! You guys are funny.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2023 9:09:39 PM)

So if we do lose/get blown out in the 1st round...well that was one of the options. But if we figure that's the likely outcome we're foolish?

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2023 9:14:34 PM)

To state it with such certainty is foolish. We’ve beat the giants. We’ve won big on the road.

Believe me it doesn't scare me. I'm not playing. With this defense I just think we're done come playoff time. I'd love for them to prove me wrong.

We haven't won BIG on the road. 11 one score wins.

The defense only gave up 3 points near halftime. Can’t go 3 and out for infinity and expect them to keep holding

True. But then again I don't think the Packers are really that good. Yet they still pounded us in the run game.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2023 9:32:23 PM)

Not sure I understand the comeback. Are you saying we’re chicken littles? We are, after a traditional 16 game schedule, 31st in points given up. This isn’t a “today” stat. This D sucks ass and the O got much worse today with injuries on the OLine.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2023 10:01:17 PM)

Offense and defense are a function of each other. Yes, our defense is bad, but lately they’ve been playing better - until we 3 and out them into oblivion. Going into today we were I believe 3rd in the league in 3 and outs. We might lead the league after today. In a nutshell I’m saying that we have a poor D but compound it by not sustaining drives with much regularity.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2023 10:08:04 PM)

Totally. Like I said, all 3 (and coaches) sucked. Nobody picked each other up. Just that, at times during the season, O and ST’s have been good/great. Can’t say that at all on D.

Hahaha anyone who thinks today’s loss changes anything about our prospects in the postseason hasn’t been paying attention all season long. We’re bipolar as it gets. We still have the ability to win three playoff games in a row. We also might get blown out in the first one. Or anything in between those scenarios. You think the opposing team will get some type of “blueprint “ from todays game? Why wasn’t there one after the Philly game? The Dallas game?

We’re in no different spot right now than we were this morning.

Hahaha the injuries could be a factor.

Our bad defense + a step back from our OL is real trouble.

We will have to see who we play. I get what you're saying about our unpredictability ...

however, the playoffs have a different intensity and smaller margin of error ... playing possum for half a game won't work ... typically.

bstinger -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2023 10:09:43 PM)

With the 2 seed likely out of reach now I think you strongly consider resting as many people as possible next week to be as healthy as possible for the playoffs. Schlotman broke his leg/ankle so he's done. O'Neil calf strain pending MRI.

Your last sentence doesn't make me think we're winning any playoff games. Who knows maybe they show out for the Giants. At this point a playoff win is probably a very successful season.

On one hand I like the idea of resting players. On the other I feel they don't deserve it after this effort.

Mark Anderson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2023 11:19:07 PM)

Time to give Nailor some of Thielen's reps. No way a guy shouldn't get open with all the attention to JJ and Hock.

Will someone tell our DC that the only people we are confusing, when we have all our DLinemen stand up and move around, is ourselves. We are slow off the ball and have no leverage when the ball is snapped.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2023 12:42:27 AM)

Playoffs, 3 home games: Beat the Giants, then beat the Bucs, then the Packers.

Then the Vikings are in the Super Bowl to face ???

Win the Super Bowl.

With the 31st ranked defense?

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2023 1:43:05 AM)

Yes, the regular season is like the pre-season, it will mean very little when the real games start.

Ed Donatell sucks. Kirk better score 30 plus a game. Might get by scoring 27 against the Giants. Kirk isn't going to do that in any road stadium.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2023 4:19:42 AM)

Correct, that is why I said 3 home games.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2023 4:19:58 AM)

I would love to see Jaire's doing the griddy come back to haunt him, with Jefferson having a Moss like game to defeat the Packers in the NFC Championship.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2023 5:09:03 AM)

May as well rest players against Chicago, to insure the 3rd seed.

That's dumb and childish. If you want to punish them, and you aren't wrong for feeling that way, make 'em practice extra hard. 100 Burpee's or something.
