ORIGINAL: Tom Sykes Kwesi gave a clinic today at the combine on "Dancing, worming, shilly-shallying, pussyfooting 101" https://www.si.com/nfl/vikings/news/vikings-kwesi-adofo-mensah-justin-jefferson-brian-flores-more-nfl-combine On Cousins: "Let’s go all the way numbers, let’s go full numbers," Adofo-Mensah said. "So, we talk about necessary and sufficient conditions, right, in math. And so a necessary condition is having a starter-level quarterback, a quarterback of above a certain threshold. Now that doesn’t mean for sure you’re going to win, that’s not the only thing you need, but that is one of the things you need, right? So having a good-level quarterback is a necessary condition. Kirk meets that threshold, so we know that. OK, well now how do you build the rest of the team around him to make sure that you can win in that way? Different quarterbacks require different things around them, but we know that for sure, he meets that threshold. How long does he meet that threshold? Those are things we’ve got to answer. Is there a chance to add somebody maybe with different skill sets? Those are all questions we’ve got to answer, so there’s not one right way, but I do know one thing, I know he is good enough, he meets that first threshold, and that’s a question that a lot of people can’t answer with a yes, so we’ve got to make sure we treat that in the proper importance that it is." Online KAM-speak translator: sufficient / starter-level quarterback / above a certain threshold / good level quarterback = Cousins = one year placeholder. He sounds like a schmoe off the street who googled "QB" for the first time and tap danced some psychobabble to hide his lack of football acumen. It was weird. I’m biased but even so, hard not to read into. He sounded like a GM talking about Jefferson … (when a GM has his balls in a vise.) Collaborative lingo at its finest! Everyone walks away thinking, whew, I'm saved from the ax. But when the question is asked about what he really meant, everyone just shakes their head. Conversely, usually when someone keeps blabbing like that you get the sense that person is hiding their real intentions behind word vomit. But in Kwesi's case, you have to adjust the length of the answer to accommodate for 'KwesiSpeak'. We'll see if it translates into double-reverse smoke screens. As of now, it would appear other GMs have no clue about anything he will do because he's a weirdo in the GM world. Yes hard to read so far. Not necessarily a bad thing of course, it just didn't come across as tactical or competitive advantage crap. For a young, sleek, fashion-plated 'smart-guy' ... his necessary and sufficient numbers fell well short of analysis. More chatty than anything. I was hoping for a cold analytical intelligence, you know like the spindly-legged 'Alien' creature ... no emotions just cold pure analytical hostility, running around bleeding acid on the other franchises. Yesterday was more of a spindly-legged bon vivant trying to bob and weave his way out of a media question. The lack of hostility vexes me. Collaborative being the opposite of hostile. Just airing my fears. Year two is about to begin in earnest ... the next two-three weeks should really clarify things on all levels. Yep, basically we should get some good indicators this month.
