ORIGINAL: David Levine This would likely eliminate the only real potential trade partner for Cousins: The Jets and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a conversation Monday, sources with knowledge of the discussion but not authorized to speak publicly confirmed to The Athletic. Here’s what you need to know: • Rodgers, 39, still hasn’t made a decision about his future in the NFL. • The Packers have given Rodgers permission to speak with the Jets, according to a report from the NFL Network, since Rodgers is still under contract with the Packers. • The Jets hired former Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett as their offensive coordinator in January. Hackett coached Rodgers in his most recent MVP seasons. When I think of Rodgers leaving the NFC North my initial feeling is one of 'good riddance'. The more I think it over though I start to wish he stays. The dude is getting worse, getting older, and the GB fans are starting to dislike him. In that vein I say keep starting him for many more seasons. If they trade him to the Jets they will likely get this year's first and next year's first. This year's first is the #13 pick and Green Bay already has #15. If they package those two picks and throw in a high pick from 2024 they could likely have their pick of the QBs for this year and they'd have Jordan Love to start in 2023 while their top QB prospect develops. If either Love or the guy they pick in the draft turns out to be good then they're set at QB, yet again, for years. I'd rather they keep Rodgers and let that mess play out as he crosses into age 40. I feel similarly. His last three passes as a Packer were not even close what we grew to dread over the years. But I kinda of enjoyed the latest of Rogers personality which I could not stand for almost all of his career. I get a chuckle over he may have microdosed some mushrooms to enhance his play. Either way, we should be ok
