I'm not a baseball guy and don't watch the Twins so don't kill me but...

Is the Pagan thing a Rocco deal or Tingler? I live in SoCal and listen to the local sports radio a lot and Padre fans bitched quite a bit about this same situation when Tingler was in charge down here. They laughed when the Twins picked him up. It was a "good riddance" situation.

It's a Rocco thing. Rocco is the manager. Rocco decides which pitcher to put in and when. NOT the bench coach.

And it will be a "good riddance" situation here when this organization finally learns that Pagan is worthless.

It's the Rocco Tampa Bay bias at work again. Pagan's best season by far was 2019 with Tampa Bay. He's never come close to equalling it. Rocco was gone from TB by then, that was his first year with the Twins. But I'm sure he still had lots of contacts there telling him how great Pagan was.

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/27/2023 5:03:25 PM)

Stewart goes to IL for a sore elbow/forearm

Ortega up

Now look for more tighter situations with Pagan, cuz Rocco doesn't trust many in that pen right now.

Stewart on th IL is a huge blow.

As you noted Ed, Rocco the idiot will go to Pagan in all early critical situations.

MDK -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/27/2023 6:06:52 PM)

Karl
Good observation on Pagan and Tampa.

What Rocco and Falvine don't get, Tampa's handling, coaching, development, drafting and trading pitchers is head and shoulders better than the Twins

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/27/2023 7:51:24 PM)

Ryan shelled
pitch selection first inning almost all fastballs first 3 homers/4 runs

gee maybe call something else

So awful. I can call pitches better than that

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/27/2023 7:52:01 PM)

It's men against boys
Twins are sub-level. so pathetic

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/27/2023 7:57:19 PM)

The Twins will likely use this outing as a reason to not allow complete games and 100+ pitches

MDK -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/27/2023 8:02:38 PM)

Twins are closer to mediocre than elite.

They are mediocre

150 mill payroll
17th in the league

and can't even play .500 ball

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/27/2023 8:43:36 PM)

The problem with the Twins offense isn't the guy who isn't here. It's the guys who are here..

Carlos Correa (Merry Popkins #1 fan) has a .692 OPS.
Michael A Taylor has a .670 OPS
Max Kepler has a .680 OPS
Christian Vasquez has a .598 OPS

That's almost half the regular batting order including our $30M a year SS below a .700 OPS. That's just pathetic.

Freaking sellout crowd in Atlanta on a Tuesday night. I wish we had dedicated fans like that.

I wish we had an organization dedicated to winning like that.

Remember when we were one of the best teams in baseball in 2019? How many sellouts at Target Field that summer? Our fans never showed the level of support in 2019 that Braves fans are showing in 2023. Sad and disappointing, to be honest with y'all.

Braves fans are 1.5 years removed from a WS title. They are showing appreciation for a team that wins year after year, decade after decade. Not a couple of good years followed by a decade of suck.

The question remains. What could possibly make him trust Pagan?

Maybe there is a bug on Rocco's iPad.

One of the best teams in baseball doesn't get swept in the Playoffs by a combined 23-7.

Could happen and did happen.

Didn't have the pitching or hitting (outside of Cruz) to win in the playoffs; just the regular season----that is what did happen.

It did happen. Because they weren't one of the best teams in baseball.

They were definitely fun - until it mattered.

There was a great line in the last season of Succession by Logan Roy. At one point he looked at all of his kids and said; "You are not serious people." It's exactly how I feel about the Twins.

Brad H -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/28/2023 2:23:45 PM)

Another great game for Gallo today. 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. Amazing player!

14 strikeouts for the Twins today. Somebody needs to get fired.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/28/2023 2:35:57 PM)

Couldn't even muster up a run today.

Wow are they good... [sm=icon_sarcasm.gif][sm=icon_sarcasm.gif]

Seriously Morty Popkins should be let go post haste.

We are going to look foolish against the Orioles the next few games too.

Twins are now batting .231 as a team. Back in my day, you'd maybe see one guy in the lineup below that and he would be batting ninth.

The Twins now have 78 more strikeouts than the closest team to them.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (6/28/2023 3:28:37 PM)

Do the Twins have a hitting coach? Or are they just going up there and hacking away?

Maybe something to look into.
