I know you like Pickett....remember who his WR was?

Addison, we could have had the Pickett/Addison combo starting this year.

IF the Vikings can somehow draft Caleb Williams, then we can start the Williams/Addison combo next season.

If you are calling Ingram shit before he plays a snap in his 2nd year I guess it would be about the same.

No O-Lineman in the entire NFL allowed more pressures last year than Ingram.

He doesn't really deserve benefit of the doubt.

Phi lumps 'Hasn't shown anything' with 'physically impossible to ever improve,' or 'shit' as he likes to call it.

Elite or horrible as long as he's a starter = good draft pick ... another lumpish microscopic view.

Maybe its just my view of Phil that's microscopic.

At some point, bad play in a young player flips from 'needs to show he can get better' to 'needs to prove he's not bad'. IMO Ingram has reached that point.

There's a little slack with Cine, Evans, Asamoah because they haven't seen the field much.

Even though Booth hasn't played much, he looks so completely lost, he's burned through most of his slack completely.

You never know, look at freakin' Cordarelle P., it only took him 7 years to find his footing, now he's a weapon.

Here seems like an interesting debate: does NaJee Thompson make the final 53?

Good question. I think he should, but wouldn't bet on it.

Doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt? He was annoited game one starter as a rookie with no development on the oline.....lol. He played the whole year..

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2023 2:36:57 PM)

I'm saying he was beyond bad last year and showed almost no improvement.

Could he surprise and be decent? Its possible.

Should we expect it based on how bad he was? Nope.

So you think he should have slotted in at RG and be perfect from the start? Rookie QBs, WRs (JJ), CB, etc. don't work that way. I was really impressed with Evans last year before the 3 concussions and many suggest he was a bad pick.

Olines take time to develop no matter how impatient you are.....and a 24 year old guard that started game 1 of rookie season still has development time before you . Don't move him to LG either.

Weird thing is that the posters recommending we tank are the most impatient when it comes to rookies. Ingram is just starting his 2nd season in about 3 weeks....

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2023 3:40:45 PM)

I'm saying that playing a guy every game won't guarantee he'll be good - or even a legit NFL player.

He was as bad of an offensive lineman as there was in the NFL last year. That's tough to recover from.

stfrank -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2023 3:44:03 PM)

Sometimes a 300 lb turnstile is just that.......a 300 lb turnstile.

And if he improves leaps and bounds, he gets it, will you come in and say, I have to eat crow on this one?

Ive heard that one a few times

Which is not a bad thing.

Nobody in here is guessing right all the time - positive or negative.

Absolutely!

If it benefits the team, I LOVE being wrong in cases like this..

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2023 8:06:49 PM)

Last year I made a promise that if Kirk Cousins won the MVP or went to the Super Bowl I'd tattoo a Bible verse of his choosing on my ass and a tattoo of his dick on my face. I RELISHED the chance of having to make good on that. I dream at night of eating crow. GIVE ME SOME CROW TO EAT!!!

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2023 8:33:34 PM)

Good stuff! ;)

Hockenson missing this much time for an "ear infection" seems odd to me. Of course I've never had a bad ear infection so I wouldn't know what he's going through if that's really the deal.

If that dick tattoo is to scale, I'm impressed.

He might have done the bible verse but he's all talk about the "dick tattoo," obviously. We've seen his wife, she ain't letting that happen.

Beat me to it. I listened to that last night and was going to quote it in response to your post. I agree with their take. It seems a fishy excuse at best. If you're a world class athlete, do you let that linger and just "work itself out over time"? Hard for me to know for certain as i've never experienced that but seems odd, at best.

A severe infection in the ear and surrounding area can cause huge problems

Hearing loss, infection of the vestibular organs of the inner ear can effect balance, the ability to stand, walk and run, let alone what a physical head jarring impact AKA being tackled , would do.

Also due the the proximity of that area to the brain, blood supply and nerves of the head..

Erring on the side of caution and ensuring the infection is completely controlled or eliminated is by far how you should treat a valuable offensive player.

Mundt and Muse are fine as place-holders.

I’d rather have hock fully healthy than rush him back and risk his ability and career.

The last thing you want is an ear infection becoming a cerebral infection..

I was thinking vertigo could be the issue. I let an ear inection go too long and ended up with about three months of vertigo. It's like being seasick 24 hours a day.

This is why people struggle trying to have conversations with you. You move the goalposts to impossible levels to try to make a point.

Is there really no middle ground between "worst in the NFL" and "perfect from the start"?

I'd settle for serviceable at this point. That would be a HUGE step in the right direction.

The only reason I called in sick at work for the last few years was vertigo a couple of times. What a bitch that is to deal with. Your eyeballs just bounce! For me, staying still, eyes closed for a few hours and it went away. I can't even imagine anything long term.

Exactly!

If he would've been bad, but showed flashes of good play - or if he steadily improved as the year went on, I'd be all for giving him another chance.

But dude was awful from Game 1 through the Playoffs.

I'm not even saying cut him. But he's clearly not ready to be an NFL player. Bring in someone to play ahead of him while he works with the coaches.
