I don't know about that....Kirk had a RG knock the ball out of his hands and a WR hand a CB the football at the goal line. He shredded TB for over 400 yards passing and they have a very good defense.

The worst thing he did is not move protection over on Winfield sack/fumble.

For shredding a defense he sure did have a lot of 3 and outs. You're still fooled by the few plays a game I see.

How do you rate the TB defense Richard? He threw for over 400 yards. I saw about 5 remarkable throws....the throw to KJ was a good one two that was a little late and KJ should have held on. Look at the tape on the throw to Addison for the TD and 3 of the throws to JJ that were in coverage.

Who cares about yards. I'll agree the Osborn play wasn't all on him. There's always an excuse though. Obviously our top 5 wr room needs to work too. This team will struggle to ever have a comfortable win until we get a real qb in here that doesn't crap his pants under pressure. Just my opinion. No I'm not letting the interior line off the hook either.

We gifted TB 2 turnovers and still were in position to win the game....it wasn't about yards. Kirk made a ton of plays against a good defense.

KC lost too; would you blame that on Mahomes, not having Kelce, or bad coaching? Weird things happen the first week.

Mahomes didn't have his best game no doubt. However i think ill give him some benefit of the doubt being a multiple Super Bowl champion and all. But Cousins continues to get excuses for coming up short. Jared fricking Goff looked more in control of his offense than we ever get from Cousins. If some want to keep trotting Cousins out there even after this year that's their right. Don't be surprised when we lose to inferior teams or keep them in games we should clearly win comfortably. That's all.

Right! I mean it's only the first preseason, I mean first regular season game. But I get it: For some it's time to vent. And I can't really blame ''em.

I have a son who's a venter. Drives me nuts. When sh!t goes on in his life he has to vent. I'm kind of the opposite. But he was all about "3 turnovers and an offsides is the only reason they have 17 points." I don't know, I have a hard time feeling that.

The weird thing is I'm not even that upset about the loss. I just hope for a franchise qb some day.

19-0 going into the superbowl and he got totally flustered by the relentless pass rush the Giants sent against him that day.

NOT FALSE.

I think many QBs handle pressure better than others. Cousins gets skiddish in a hurry. Just my opinion though.

Nobody crowned the Lions with anything except winning a tough away game. Well, except for Marty who did crown the Lions north division champs after game but that works heavily against Detroit’s chances. As far as I can tell, the universe leaps sideways in desperation from any Marty prediction.

We’re going to play KC shortly. Hope we play as well or better than the Lions did. In fact, I just hope we improve on how we played against the Bucs.

Brad H -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/11/2023 9:54:29 AM)

The Vikings were 11-0 in one-score games last season. If that comes down to .500 or close to it, they will win about eight games.

Last year was a complete fraud. It's still a bad defense and the offense still has Kirk Cousins under center.

IMO, Kevin O'Connell still has a long ways to go before proving he is a legit NFL coach. I loved his ability to win close games last season. Outside of that, he has a long ways to go before being inducted into Canton.

In fairness, it's not O'Connell's fault he has been stuck with Cousins. It's a 50-pound weight around his neck.

I was thinking 9 wins. However if we get routed in Philly it may be more like 5 or 6.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/11/2023 10:33:52 AM)

Eh, I'm not that upset or surprised by the first game. I'm not going to overreact either. They played like a team that could be capable of winning 10ish games but just had some bad breaks. Without the turnovers, we win something like 24-13, everybody is all duckies and bunnies, praising Addison's TD, JJ's 9 and 150, and BFlo's defense looking improved.

They could still win 10, and 10 could still win the division. Detroit looked good vs KC but I'm not a true believer yet. Nor am I on the GB Love train yet.

No, another season of winning a weak division and being outmatched in the playoffs isn't the most exciting prospect in the world, but it's what I expected.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/11/2023 10:35:37 AM)

0-1 is on him.

Was KC first loss on Mahomes? His WR also gave a DB an INT.

I would put it on the whole team and coaching staff TBH.

Maybe we need the season to be a disaster. Then we could move on from Cousins, pick a franchise qb and have some decent spots to pick interior line.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/11/2023 10:45:02 AM)

Everyone is saying the same thing but in different ways (blame) IMO.

Yes, KC's is easy to blame. He has flaws that are visible from the naked eye from Saturn. That said they were heightened by:

A terrible interior OLine that was not upgraded at all. That's on KAM and KOC. They had a whole year to evaluate and decided to roll it back. Just pure stupidity on thier part. They knew it too or else why bring in Reisner for an "interview" as it was put?

I'm officially done with KAM and am on the brink with KOC. His playcalling was atrocious at times.

Ingram still in there
Slow developing plays with multiple "fake reverses" as the interior is getting blown to shreads
Screen plays to a FB (that they extended btw - great call there...)
Making no 2nd half adjustments. JJ had 120 in the first half and 30 in the 2nd? TB sure made some adjustments
Taking a TO on a 57 yard FG attempt

IMO, it's the exact same team as last year but we won't be so lucky.

Not O’Connell’s fault he’s stuck with Cousins? Check the timeline on Cousins’ March 2022 contract extension, a month after O’Connell was hired. In your mind Kwesi overruled O’Connell, despite repeatedly emphasizing their collaborative decision making process.

Great post Jeff. Ingram still being in there just blows my mind. I was hoping to be done with the whole "you only lose your starting spot due to injury" garbage. If someone is stinking it up try someone else!!! Obviously Ingram is not a gamer regardless of what he's doing in practice.
