So our backup plan at quarterback is Sam Howell? What, was Thurston Howell not available?

Sam Howell is terrible.

So was Sam Darnold until KOC and our skill position guys saved his career.

I see some similarities in their games. Strong arms, athletic, too many INTs. Let KOC work with him this summer and if he doesn't like what he sees, give Tannehill an offer he can't refuse.

That's good enough for me. I'm all in now. [:'(]

This is silly. We bitched about a guy that was a huge prospect but went to the worst teams in the league and sucked. Was labelled a bust because he didn't win enough and threw a bunch of picks. He gets his first "real" shot and goes for 14 wins, gets whispers of MVP and moves on to a 100 million dollar contract.

We bitch because we don't bring him back and let the new flavor walk.

IMO; we're still working on bringing cousins back as #2...howell is smoke....

we're $17mm under the cap for a reason....
.

ha ha! Thatd be interesting -- to me

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2025 11:04:55 AM)

Not a fn chance..

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2025 11:16:52 AM)

Howell is the very definition of a "gunslinger". He just needs to reign in some of his decision making.

And if he's called on to play, he won't be tasked with winning on his own like in his first stint.

As a 23 year-old first year starter, dude led the entire league in pass attempts. And was leading the league in passing yards for a while (finished 12th - just shy of 4K).

Geez, for what it cost I think this is a fine way to go.

Darnold @ whatever + JJM sitting = yuck

Sam Howell at 23 21TDs/21INTS 4-13 record
San Darnold at 23 9TDs/11 INTS 2-10 record

Current Salary and age:
28 San Darnold 37.5 Million
25 Sam Howell 1.1 Million

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2025 3:46:25 PM)

Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter
A raise in Minnesota: Vikings reached agreement today on a one-year $23 million extension that includes $22.4 million guaranteed for LB Andrew Van Ginkel, per his agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus.

That scenario is far more likely than than Cousins coming back.

Rosenhaus is in town so Metullus probably is next.....

It is weird that some don't see the talent is almost the same with both Howell and Darnold.

I read that Vikings are bringing Nebraska CB Tommi Hill for tryout. Might be a darkhorse for PS.

I don't know how solid the Samuel story is. It could just be speculation repeated enough that people think it's reality. In any event the Vikings are not going to shovel out Cousins salary for a guy they don't expect to play.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/29/2025 5:56:21 PM)

I wouldnt mind a bit if Cousins was here to be a back-up but he'd have to give the discount this time or no deal - no deal probably makes the most sense. These guys aren't paying him big bucks. His days of the big bucks stopped in Atl.

Dude has some skills...Just haven't unlocked them all with consistency...
he could actually make the 53!

I would actually be disappointed. They've (hopefully) moved on. Don't go backwards. Is KC's a better backup at this point than anyone? Maybe/probably. Just dont go there, no matter the cost or value. Lets move forward even if it backfires.

There is no discount to be had. Cousins is under contract. If Atlanta was going to release him, they would have done it before they had to pay his $10M roster bonus.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/30/2025 5:43:50 AM)

I'm just saying how I feel about him if he came back here.
I don't believe it'll happen and I realize there ain't no discount.
But I don't believe the organization feels the same about KC as a large percentage of the fan base.
No, im good and only responding to what's been posted. I'm not hoping or wishing him back. That ship has sailed.

Cousins could hardly even move last season. He couldn't go under center and even take a couple steps fast enough to hand the ball off on a running play. Guy is toast. Why bail out the Falcons out either.

**** him.

He couldn't wait to roll out of here for more money last offseason. Don't want him back.
