This is not the Sam Darnold message board. I'm sure one could find one if one were interested.

The questions is: would the Vikings have won the SB with him at QB this year?

The answer: given the MIN roster - even without taking into consideration the negative salary cap impact that he would have had on that roster - any reasonable person would have to say that the chances of that are incredibly small.

Brad you're pathetic cheering more for Darnold as a Seahawk than you ever have for the Vikes. We know you're a troll but stop it. Anyone could have QB'd the Seahawks to a win tonight, just like when Wilson won for them in 2013.

Rob, this is the part when you are supposed to act like a grown up. My father always taught me, part of being a man is admitting when you are wrong.

Brad H, you were right!

It's way more nuanced than that and you know it.

You should really stop seeking validation for your ego. And furthermore, My Father taught me I don't need others to tell me when I'm right. That's arrogance and egotism. Grow up.

That'll do

Do what? I haven't validated you. I just said that I DON'T need to be told when I'm right. You have better reading comprehension than this.

Sam Darnold was capable of winning a Super Bowl. That was the question. Nobody in here thought it was possible a year ago except me. You people were all quick to cast him aside as a hack that couldn't handle pressure.

Conversely, I told you our offensive line was abysmal and the coaching lacked the ability to make in-game adjustments.

Any of the conversations from a year ago starting to re-emerge now? Does that juggle out some of the cobwebs?

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (2/9/2026 2:41:55 PM)

I was on this before the Super Brad, here it is:

Now that should be separated out to those that thought it was a wise choice to keep Sam, and those that thought we should go with McCarthy, even if it meant taking a step back.

Now the verdict is not immediately in on that.

IF Sam loses the Super Bowl, and then never goes to the Super Bowl again, while McCarthy wins a Super Bowl for the Vikings, that would show it was actually the better decision to go with McCarthy.

IF Sam wins a Super Bowl, it was still the right decision to go with McCarthy, if he also wins a Super Bowl.

IF Sam wins the Super Bowl, but never wins another, while McCarthy wins multiple Super Bowls, then it was absolutely a great decision to go with McCarthy.

IF Sam wins the Super Bowl, and McCarthy never wins one, pretty much everyone on the board will owe Brad an apology.

And if Sam wins multiple Super Bowls, and McCarthy never wins one, then the football God's are even meaner than they have been in the past.

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (2/9/2026 2:57:59 PM)

McCarthy will be long gone before this team is ready to compete for a Super Bowl. Anybody really think these clowns are going to start killing it in the drafts?

Well, that was the question as I understood.

IDGAF is player X can go win a SB on another team. WTF does that have to do with anything?!

You made it seems like MIN mgmt were hacks for letting him walk. Considering your comment above, you agree with the rest of us or forgot that whole part of the discussion....

That's cute.

According to The New York Times, Turning Point's performance racked in 6.1 million concurrent viewers, while the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show is projected to meet or exceed 135 million viewers, according to a preliminary CBS report.

If that 135M is correct, it was the most watched half-time show in history.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (2/9/2026 3:09:00 PM)

My biggest take away is "what did KAM tell the Wilf's to get hired in the first place?". [:-]

What a major and total flop. He let a guy with 54 sacks in just 4 years leave for free. Didn't trade him at the deadline. And now, didn't have the nuts to tag the SB winning QB who also left for free. Forget all his draft day fiascos.

Yes. KAM was a DISASTER.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (2/9/2026 3:25:26 PM)

Darnold showed the different levels, and where the Vikings lie:

D) Can draft a QB that is capable of winning a Super Bowl: NY Jets
C) Can acquire such QB and give him a foundation: SF 49ers
B) Can acquire such QB, further his development, and make him win a lot of regular season games: Minnesota Vikings
A) Can acquire such a QB from a team B, build a Super Bowl team around him, further his development, and actually win a Super Bowl: Seattle Seahawks

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (2/9/2026 4:02:47 PM)

Any one look up the Jock Tax of Sam Darnold winning the Super Bowl?

This Year's Super Bowl (LX in California) Was Particularly Bad Super Bowl LX took place on February 8, 2026, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California (Seahawks defeated the Patriots). California has the nation's highest top state income tax rate at 13.3% (potentially higher with State Disability Insurance), making the jock tax especially painful here.

Bonuses: Winners received about $178,000 each; losers got about $103,000 (pretax, per the NFL-NFLPA CBA; figures are consistent across reports, with minor variations in some outlets).

Tax impact: Players on both teams faced California's jock tax for the ~8 duty days (or more) in the state. This prorates a slice of their full-season earnings to CA rates.

Specific estimates (from analyses around the game): Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (high-earner on a big contract) was projected to owe roughly $249,000 in CA taxes if his team won—more than his ~$178k winner's bonus, creating a net loss on the bonus from this tax alone (before federal taxes).

Patriots QB Drake Maye faced estimates around $186,000 in CA taxes in a winning scenario.

Broader reports suggested winners' net from the bonus could drop to around $86,000 and losers' to about $50,000 after jock and related taxes in this context.

6.1 million concurrent is the 2nd highest live on YouTube's history.

Also:
Current iTunes Top Songs positions (U.S., updated earlier today):
#1: "'Til You Can't" – Kid Rock
#3: "DtMF" – Bad Bunny
#4: "Tití Me Preguntó" – Bad Bunny
#8: Another Bad Bunny track ("NUEVAYoL")

Kid Rock's song (a reimagined/cover version of Cody Johnson's track, performed during his Turning Point USA "All-American Halftime Show" as counter-programming to the Super Bowl) surged to the top of the downloads chart. Bad Bunny has multiple songs in the top 10 but none currently above Kid Rock's lead track.

You think it is racist to not watch the NFL Halftime Show because it is produced by a Satanic Pedophile and best buddy of Sean Combs?
Let's talk racist.....Who was the last White person to headline for ROC Nation at the Super Bowl? Exact reasons why TPUSA had a Halftime show.....the racist is also Jay Z. He has only had Eminem on since he took over in the last 7 years.....

If the political crap gets out of hand, it can be traced to Phil's post here where he literally admits to bringing it over from the (a) politics thread.

And saying "some wanted to talk about the Half Time Show in the politics thread" to rationalize this when he could have left it there is even more absurd.

Yes. KAM was a DISASTER.

I honestly think he is the worst GM in NFL history.

That first trade he made and got fleeced by a divisional opponet, in the process passing on a potential HOFer for a guy who is a special teamer or out of the league.

KOC should be the next to go. He's the worst play caller in the league, refuses to see that and let someone competent to call plays.

Yes. KAM was a DISASTER.

Not sure what our plan is. Why wait until after draft to get a GM?

Unless we are giving Brez a chance to prove himself and then give him the GM title after a successful draft.

If I'm the Wilfs, there are two guys under Schneider in SEA that would be tops on my list.
