Salmon is great!

JJM out as the fanciful QBOTF.

Salmon in as the legit FOTF.

Im not a big fish eater to begin with, but salmon in particular has a powerful smell and taste to me. Seriously, I gag when I try to eat it.

Fresh salmon is a mild smelling/tasting fish. Spoiling/spoiled, not so much. I especially love a nice uncooked chunk of it on vinegared rice (nigiri). Bliss.

The salmon we traded for is fundamentally sound, unlike JJM. And although it is dead, it was never injured. Plus it won't talk back to KOC.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (9/12/2026 11:27:05 AM)

Like Trout, Salmon is only good fresh. Freezing it seems to ruin the flavor.

That is not at all true.

If you've ever eaten raw salmon in the U.S., unless you caught it yourself, its been frozen. If you've ever eaten "sushi-grade" or "sashimi-grade" salmon, its been frozen.

If you go to Alaska and catch salmon and have it shipped home to you, its been frozen. And it absolutely does not "ruin the flavor".

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (9/12/2026 12:55:47 PM)

+1

The takeaway is our frozen salmon is fine, and has a hint of an ocean scent. Meanwhile JJM is being shipped to Seattle as-is because his brain has been in deep freeze for years.

Has anyone noticed that everyone is posting under something called "General Vikes Talkkkkkkkkkkkk. Okay, I exaggerated the extra K thing, but for more than 100 pages, no one noticed that? It's okay to take the extraneous "k" out of the subject line to bring it back to normal.

It's possible I need to renew my prescription for chill pills. [:D]

Did notice a long time ago but took your chill pills and let it go. Good job correcting it.

So that's where my chill pills went. [:D]

Wow! After the first half I was thinking I would be playing more golf on Sundays this fall. Then came the second half. Did football gods smile on us or did the Vikings organization buy all the refs a great meal last night?

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/14/2026 7:32:43 AM)

Same. Murray was his whacky best until the cheap shot(s).

The stop on 4th and 1 was reminiscent of a similar stop on 10/4/98 vs GB before Randy Moss went nuts in his national debut. Taking points off the board added a great twist.

Wentz initially looked like he had been in a straightjacket for a week. Creaky. And throughout it's like his legs, arm, torso, etc were not in synch. Liked the 3-0 TD-Int ratio.

Big gaps in the pass D, although they finally got to Love a lot and he was toast.

The Drive we went ahead or pulled within 3 I think the GB defense did more to move us down the field and keep the drive alive than our own offense. Several big penalties.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/14/2026 7:58:23 AM)

My .02

Game started poorly. Packers were dominating in everthing but the score. Defense had big holes and the field position was all in the Packers favor, Looked initially like they made little adjustment after halftime but then...Everything flipped.

I think LaFleur made a huge error in taking points off the board to go for it. I get his thinking, I just don't agree with it. The thought that should have dominated his thoughts is if they stop us (which we did) it will give them momentum and a lot of energy moving forward. He was looking for the dagger and got a spoon.

JJ finally looking like JJ again.

Addison and Jennings had zero catches. I wonder what this offense will look like when they are more involved.

Rookies that made an impact. On the aforementioned stop on 4th and 1, it was big citrus Dominque Orange that stonewalled Love. JJ Watt was amazed the Packers had no one pushing (tush push). Max Bredeson had big blocks on most of the biggest runs, Including both 4th quarter TDs.

Wentz looked rusty and undecisive or a little too risk averse early. Checking down to quickly...Probably why no Jennings or Addison catches. But did utilize Hockenson and Oliver well. TD to Hockesnon was beautiful, Plus realizing the free play and hitting JJ for the TD was HUGE. I haven't really seen that from any Vikings QB in a long time.

Defense has way too many free running WRs and TEs in open gaps. Now LeFluer is a pretty good Offensive minded coach and had a lot of time to find the gaps in preperation for this game, but it was getting concerning...but part of that is the pressure defernse we use. Love generally handles pressure pretty well and we weren't getting to him early...Later though...Love couldn't set his feet late and it showed.

The KO return by Myles Price was another huge moment that fueled the victory.

I don't know that the rules are regarding personal fouls but I think Packers number 33 should have been ejected for twice using helmet to helmet. One knocked Murray out of the game, the other was directed at JJ. It looked like head humting boutygate shit to me.

All in all, messy victory but watching them overcome early shaky play and dominate the fourth quarter and watching the Packers unravel like they did was beautiful.

One of the best parts of this win is Packers fans losing their minds all over the internet over the officiating.

And the announcers only once questioned the penalty called against the Packers...and I could see their point.

Still think 33 should have been ejected for headhunting though.
