Vikings have played 4 QBs who are currently 22nd, 28th, 31st and 37th out of 37 qualifying QBs in passer rating.

And the 3 QBs who are in the top 16 in passer rating that they have faced had passer ratings of 119.7 (2nd best this season for Rodgers), 158.3(career high for Hurts) and 122.8 (tied for 2nd best this season for Herbert).

We are bad against the pass when facing even an average QB.

I think Flores has been figured out.

The defense is 19th in yards against and 16th in takeaways. Given that the offense can't get a first down, that isn't all that bad.

The offense is horrific. The only thing keeping the team in games is the takeaways and play of the defense. How many games have you watched this season where you said to yourself, "thank goodness we've got a decent defense or we'd be getting blown out". For me, it happens almost once a game.

- The D is 27th in ypa
- The D is 27th in QB rating
- The D is 28th (tied) in interceptions

Dammit Bill Darnold would fix everything!!!!!!!! I Promise!!!!!

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (10/28/2025 10:30:06 AM)

We will give up a 6th for a QB we released. That's how Kwesi rolls.

I only remember you having Darnold in Canton----I remember most wanting to draft a QB due to Salary Cap reasons which ended up being JJ. If we needed to spend a little extra; also Daniel Jones.

Savior? Not one bit. All that was visible is that Darnold didn't have the stones in the playoffs and a different direction was needed.

I know you were being silly but I heard an interview before the year. The guest was a guy that breaks down every team and publishes his finings based on last year and what he projects for this. I apologize but I don't remember his name.

He did actually say he totally expected our D to regress quite a bit because of the uncertainty at QB. His main point was that our offense was so good in the first quarter it threw other teams gameplans out the window and made it so much more predictable for the D. He also noted that we created way too many 'lucky' TO's and would come back to the average.

Back to Flores' D being figured out:

- The D is 28th (tied) in interceptions

- They are tied for 3rd in fumbles recovered with 5 (3 puts you in the 12th to 20th range) and 4th in forced fumbles. That's part of being 16th in takeaways but rings pretty hollow given the pass D deficiencies.

Yes, Flores' D has been figured out.

Due to Kwesi magic whichever team trades for him would save us $8 million next year. They would have to pay him 12 million next year.

There are 2 others I would send packing for trades w/o too much thought....O'Neal and Murphy. O'Neal is hurt all the time and is due for extension, Murphy is just overpaid.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (10/28/2025 2:30:53 PM)

Los Angeles Rams: The most frequently mentioned suitor, with Sporting News' Vinnie Iyer proposing a 2026 third-round pick for Hockenson as a "missing third option" alongside Puka Nacua and Davante Adams for Matthew Stafford. Rams beat writers note Hockenson's youth (over Mark Andrews) and blocking skills fit Sean McVay's scheme, though his injury history raises flags for 2027 cap implications.

Denver Broncos: Interest stems from their TE depth crisis (Lucas Krull out with a foot fracture, Nate Adkins knee injury). Sources suggest a late Day 2 or early Day 3 pick could land him, pairing Hockenson with Bo Nix to open up Sean Payton's offense. Broncos waived claims on other TEs this week, signaling urgency.

Other Speculation: Mock trades have linked him to the New York Giants (for a second-rounder and QB) or NFC contenders like the Eagles, but these are less substantiated. Broader lists of available TEs include Hockenson alongside Mark Andrews and David Njoku.

It's not been good, mostly. but it is more designed to play from a lead. and this offense has been so, well offensive...we haven't played with a lead except for one game...when the D generated it's own lead.

But it does have a decided weakness against the run which most teams know to take advantage of and the Lions will exploit with Montgomery and Gibbs.

This next game wont be pretty.

For sure.

I'm not sure he would have received the staked-out-goat-from-jurassic-park treatment that we put Wentz through last week, but the team as a whole has struggled.

Most likely leaving us with Last-Two-Games and First-Six-Seasons Darnold.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (10/28/2025 3:36:32 PM)

Best offseason addition: RB Jordan Mason

Acquired via trade from the 49ers, Mason has proved to be a powerful and resourceful runner. He is averaging 2.02 yards after contact per carry, part of the reason his first-down rate is 28.4%, which is 11th best in the NFL and by far the highest for a Vikings running back since coach Kevin O'Connell arrived in 2022. Mason's four rushing touchdowns might seem modest, but they are only one short of what Aaron Jones Sr. produced in all of 2024. -- Kevin Seifert

Just when you count this team out they surprise. Not saying we beat Det but I think JJM plays well and we play Det close.

This isn't a bad team as currently constructed. Could have beaten Philly had Wentz played better.

Or count them in, they disappoint.

I agree, outside of the secondary, the team was put together well this offseason in terms of addressing positions of need.

Kwesi’s focus on gambling with injury histories is biting back hard. And injuries in general. Sometimes it takes vets awhile to acclimate also.

We could get healthier, we could play better … with what we have.

Any seismic change will have to come through the qb position and who knows where that is headed.

You have to look at the variables for just last year. The key variable that changed for Darnold the last two games was the pressure of securing HFA throughout the playoffs.

Heck, the Lions gave up a gazillion points in their five games prior to playing us because their D was ravaged with injuries. We should have put up 30 easily. But Darnold's head was spinning and he mustered up a choke job for the ages.

With that, if he had led the team to playoff victories he could have written his own FA contract. There was probably a $100 million swing between playing just marginally and playing lights out. So he ended up getting $100 million instead of $200 million.
