We have seen it many times with Mahomes or Brady or Rodgers .....they can play horrible for 3.5 quarters and still muster up the 4th quarter magic. Another was Big Ben.

Upgrading both lines will help that a ton. We weren't out of the game even with a pick 6.

We were out of the game completely. Totally outplayed, outhit, outflanked … stiffer defense tipped the scale enough to pull Williams back to earth. Some good returns and Mason / the OL pounding it also stalled their momentum.

The Bears aren’t good enough to run up the score even when they have complete control of the game.

Once the momentum started to shift, ‘first pick’-super-talented-Williams and ‘fifth qb taken’-leftovers-JJM passed eachother running in opposite directions. Its not the dog in the fight, its the fight in the dog and all that.

Please dont start dropping the names of the all time greats. We dont know what we have with JJM yet. Right now, he’s somewhere in the Keenum scrappiness range … not as polished as Sam or Kirk, but focused on taking it, not on not losing it.

Which bodes very well for a pseudo-rookie.

FYI, Ill drop any name I care too at any time as it was his first start and on MNF thank you very much.

What did you say about the Steve Young comparason?

No FYI needed, it goes without saying, I cant stop you from making foolish comments.

Making a specific comment about Young’s first game as a rookie compared to JJM’s, is different than saying JJM is built like the greats after 3 bad / one good quarter of football

You can't stop stupid. He'd be run off many boards with posts like that. In his zeal he forgot Manning... unless Manning doesn't fit his well-researched criteria.

Run off many boards? LOL You have zero idea. Maybe ask in a PM if concerned but if just part of your BS folly don't bother.

How many road MNF games have the Vikes won? Add his first and once again I have every right to compare him to any one.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/10/2025 2:46:35 PM)

The Vikings have won 15 road MNF games in their history.

The last one was in 2022.

They are 15-26 in their history on MNF road games.

I prefer quasi-rookie: "seemingly; apparently but not really."

Point taken.

The first three qtrs looked like a Kwesi-rookie.

Then to the other side of the spectrum as a quasi-rookie.

Just what exactly are you up to here?

An aside about the vikings and mnf.

Or are you still trying to build an argument for JJMs singular achievement?

I’m trying to follow.

There may have been higher overall productivity from whistle to whistle.

But to be laying in the road, outlined in chalk, then jump up and smash PFF analysis in the mouth …

golden.

They don't win on the road on nationally televised games

It wasn't just his first game. National Spotlight for his first game where we historically don't win.

The brightest of lights and he finished. Forget the big qb names.

Vikings history doesn't have much of what happened except in Dante's first season in 2020. 25 years ago. I went to a game when we played Chicago at home and he ran in 3 TDs in the late 3rd/4th quarter to win if I remember correctly.

I thought you would get the just of it....w/o going into details. It was a reference to the greats not saying he is there already. Same as Dante.....the hope was there with Dante but not the finish to create the history. JJM has to create the history part of it. Good start but lot more to do.

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/10/2025 5:38:56 PM)

You cant take away the first game / bright lights / big stage, etc.

Again, PFF doesn’t account for those things.

As well, our MNF history does not account for how bad the bears are, how they folded / were made to fold, etc.

That kind of historical perspective only goes so far for me.

I posted a comment pre-draft after reading something from Harbaugh touting JJM’s traits at Mich., including that ‘he was an assassin’ when the game mattered most. I thought he sounded like the anti-cousins, which sounded good to me.

We’ll find out against better teams, in bigger games, but he certainly cleared the first hurdle out of the gate.

The Bears didn't actually fold. Rewatch the game.

As good as JJM finished; so did the Oline and Dline. It was similar to what the Lions did the last two years. Lean on a team first 3 quarters and the other team isn't the same in the 4th. We rushed 4 most of the game and didn't blitz to wear our defense out. Mason gouged in the 3rd and 4th.

Lions did it to us and most teams last year. We are the physical team now. Biggest key is health.

Yeah that was weird. He imagined some point to bolster his argument but then his facts refuted it.

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/10/2025 6:28:31 PM)

The terrible offense for 3 quarters wasn't leaning on anything. They were completely out of sorts with timing etc. 0 for 8 on 3rd down. As bad as the first 3 quarters were the 4th more than made up for it!

Reread my post … folded / were made to fold.

You can take all the credit if you want but hopefully the team is smarter than that.

We forced the momentum change but they also fell apart. Hard to know exactly where that line is drawn.

EDIT: trying to say there’s a lot to clean up. Momentum covers for things that were exploited early, not just good play.

I look forward to taking it to a good team - beginning to end.

Shooting Bears in the ass as they’re retreating is fun but it doesn’t make you playoff caliber.

Watching some All 22 the entire offense was extremely bad for 3 quarters. The Bears more than likely folded because we couldn't muster any 1st downs and still stayed close in score.

That's nothing compared to what was going on at DN.

At halftime, people were saying he was the biggest bust in Vikings history or that Ponder was way better in his first start.

Live game emotions are a crazy thing...

Wow, amazing.

Granted, I did point out NASA intern Dobbs' stats in his first game. W/o a JJM criticism. Dobbs was amazing, so fun... for 3 games. He was bound to crashland.

I saw a better 2nd half than bad three quarters outside of the pick six. I see that more as the usual shit Chicago field conditions as anything. There is a history to it. Takes a half to adjust. Hell the long FG before half was a surprise and gave some momentum.

Always a muck fest.
