Big game in two weeks vs the Commanders. Hoping they get on a roll but they have a tough schedule. With Burrow all but back, Cincy could start winning. And go Cousins!

The #12 spot looks like the floor, with #9-11 in play.

It's exciting lol, until the reality of Kwesi drafting enters the equation.

Having said that, there are a lot of other issues at play here as well, as nearly every other big move the Vikings made this offseason has backfired spectacularly. In no particular order:

The Vikings made Byron Murphy Jr. one of the ten highest-paid cornerbacks in the NFL this offseason. Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I’m having trouble recalling one meaningful play he’s made this season.

The Vikings spent big money on Jon Allen and Javon Hargrave in the hopes of upgrading their pass rush. There have been multiple weeks where they’ve been outplayed by Jalen Redmond, Levi Drake Rodriguez, and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins. They also traded away Harrison Phillips, who seems like a guy they could use.

Will Fries and Ryan Kelly were supposed to solidify the interior of the offensive line. Fries has fallen well short of expectations, while Kelly has once again been plagued by the concussion issues he dealt with in Indianapolis.

If it is the same cap relief, release Hargrave now and play TID and Williams more. No one is trading for Hargrave's contract in the off season.

Has Fries been bad? Thought he was a bright spot.

Poor run blocking.

Was wondering just how bad he is, and how equally bad QBs fared career wise.

I mean, there is poor play that is somewhat normal, then there is off-the-cliff bad.

Plus, a guy that gets so excited that he relapses into bad fundamentals kinda says he doesn't have 'It'. We'll see.

McCarthy was playing with a concussion. That may explain some things. Sounds like he's doubtful for next week's game.

as convenient as the ankle...

and going for the meniscus repair instead of meniscectomy

are they as done with him as we are?

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/24/2025 1:38:29 PM)

The bar is low. Can Brosmer throw for 100 yards?

That has impacted the odds for Sunday's game, as the Vikings opened as 8.5-point underdogs on the road against Seattle, but they are now 10.5-point underdogs in the latest odds at DraftKings.

Just a two-point dropoff? That might include a hedge in case JJM plays but yes, the bar is low.

Then he's been playing with a concussion for the entire season.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/24/2025 2:45:32 PM)

A suck by-product of all these injuries is that they provide ammo for KAM and KOC to justify the team's record.

A great excuse to get JJ away from the football. It won't make any difference who's playing qb, though. It's a panic move on the part of the coach and gm.

Arlowe84 -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/24/2025 3:28:15 PM)

I think something happened last night between KOC and JJ

I think JJ played his last snap as a Viking The concussion thing is protect him a bit
I think the incompetence has floored KOC and he did not picture this in his worst dreams

My guess is KAM and Grigson will be gone as well at the end of the season

There also a few close to the team who said they saw no sign of a concussion
This is an interesting twist for sure

Arlowe84 -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/24/2025 3:40:02 PM)

Pretty good summation from Mel and Field when evaluating JJ

Mel talked about a lot of question marks
Wild KOC was so confident

If KAM and Grigson are gone you might as well get rid of KOC.

Interesting points. We need a guy who knows football to work the draft. KAM is a Billy Bean wannabe with his analytics.

Chris Olson -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/24/2025 3:51:19 PM)

I hope KAM is gone

still not certain on KOC, but I certainly never saw him as this great offensive mind that so many pundits have said he was...

My feeling is that we get a new GM who gets to run this draft and KOC stays, has some input for sure, but QB is going to be the big goal

Probably not unlike two years ago, bring a vet bridge Qb and hope KOC doesn't ruin this one...can he be trusted to not ruin a rookie?

Probably up to the GM to make that decision, but seems like the Wilfs will want to keep him on

(Still don't know what those two did to get their extensions)

Sold!

But I doubt the Wilfs are willing to eat the 8 combined years of contracts that KAM and KOC have left...

Maybe there is some fine print or invisible ink.

https://www.si.com/nfl/vikings/onsi/news/vikings-qb-jj-mccarthy-rewiring-neurological-pathways-on-the-fly

Lots of quotes in there. He's probably a total head case right now. And practicing dropbacks when he walks his dogs? What is this, Pop Warner?

KOC screwing up inexperienced QBs reminds me of Zimmer with DBs insisting they line up in exact spots.

Enough of the pocket passer, play action stuff. It's not working.

No huddle, RPO, roll outs. Try something different.

Are our RBs no good out of RPO? Does the OLine not understand how to run RPO?

I think this is what gets so many coaches fired. Not adapting

We all hate him, but Sean Peyton can coach
All that success he had with Drew Brees as a pocket passer, and then you look at how he’s utilized Bo Nix
Night and day

Will it be any better with RPO? Maybe not. But at least try it.

He did it with the Passtronaut Dobbs. So it's not like it something foreign to him(KOC)

It doesn't mean you have to totally abandon the play action pass deep shots. Just give the defense something else to think about. It looks like defenses know what is coming.

RPO. No RPO. Pocket passer. No pocket passes.

It doesn't matter if your quarterback isn't worth a shit. It's like rearranging the deck furniture on the Titanic.

Darnold ran into icebergs for 5-6 years. Finally figured it out.

Time will tell if JJM can.

Darnold threw for 4,100 yds his second year
JJ never broke 3,000 in 2 seasons despite an extra game

Stats I saw say 3000 yards his 2nd year. To his credit, Darnold didn't have much talent around him. But, also, got alot of meaningless garbage yards in blow out losses.

McCarthy has 6 games to show something. Not expecting much this week because SEA defense is fast and nasty.

Edit. I see you were talking about college stats. C'mon Arlowe, Sean Mannion lit up the Pac12 back in the day.

Sorry, my point was that Darnold came out as a prolific passer, where as JJ was not

In fact JJ threw the ball extremely little and some questioned that comingi into the NFL

So Darnold came back to something he could do, where JJ is trying to do something he never has done.

In retrospect, I'm sure KOC regrets not pulling a Jordan Love or A Rod and just sit.
He just asked way to much for a young guy, who had very little throwing experience.
JJ should have been the classic project.

I would not be surprised at all if Brosmer is at least competent and KOC rolls with him from here on out.

We are talking historically bad offensive play with JJ. Historically bad.

We? I'm not done with him but it will be a real uphill struggle.

The injuries continue. While they are all different, the fact is he keeps getting injured. To the point he said he was concerned the plant was not quite right. Well, newsflash... that is shit you have to play through (or maybe he was making an excuse for a KOC coddle).

The injuries could be considered random and maybe he can one day overcome the injury bug like Robert Smith. But for a QB the timeline is accelerated.

I want it to play out but a lot of indicators point downward. More and more that likely high draft pick looms. But I wish Kwesi will have NO part in it.

Arlowe84 -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/24/2025 6:45:13 PM)

This is fantastic from a guy who did it a the highest level

He talks a lot about JJ's issues, comments on some technique things he doesn't like at all

He is making some assumptions, but seems he's pretty critical of the offense is well.

Bottom line, JJ is way too slow in processing teh field, and he not a natural thrower of the football, but is what KOC designs just too complex
It worked for Cousins and Darnold.

I would not be at all surprised if this "concussion" is so the fans don't see Darnold and McCarthy play in the same game...

Arlowe84 -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/24/2025 6:57:57 PM)

After watching Warner's breakdown. It's more and more apparent KOC took a kid with some talent, and asked him to do waayyyyy too much too soon.

I mean the kid barely threw the ball at Michigan and he expected him to come in and just run a complex NFL offense

Then you add in the the throwing issues, well it's a f**cking disaster

It's almost impossible to understand what he was thinking.

Video of him at the combine is surfacing. He badly misses a handful of receivers in the throwing drill.

I think they saw a hard working kid with a huge arm and terrible mechanics and thought they could fix him.

At this point I would throw a ton of money at Ashton Grant and make him our OC and QB coach.

Sounds like they need someone who can help him, and folks are talking about McCown being under scrutiny as well.

I don't hate pulling a Bryce Young and just let him sit for awhile and see if they can get some of these things worked out
