I'm honestly not all that interested in Trocheck at this point. He is 2nd line at best and past his prime. Yurov could well establish himself as a top 6 center next year. Last year we offered Stramel who is under contract now. I'm intrigued by Stramel and would like to see what he can do.

It makes no sense to trade away our young centers for Trocheck, who is 32. I would rather stick with the young guys and work with them and add some help on the backend that is aging and undersized for the most part. We have been playing for so many years without a true 1C I just can't see mortgaging our future for a couple of years for Trocheck. The way things are going in the NHL, guys like McJesus or Mathews could very well become available in the next year or two. It would suck if one of them did become available and we had no assets to work a trade because we had to have Trocheck now.....

He has to use an educated guess.....I would trade Hartman and Brodin before Yurov or Stramel.......I would trade the Wall before Yurov or Stramel as goalies aren't always a guarantee. That is just my opinion.....I would have rather traded Gus but it wasn't an option.

I would love Matthews or Larkin this year and that is the move he will try to make.

The only guy I regret trading away is Buium out of the 3 we traded away for Hughes.

The one plus I see is guys wanting to come here....before it was a trade or more money.....now it seems things Guerin and Boldy/Hughes/Faber/ have done.

The last few paragraphs of Russo's latest on the Athletic.....

There’s no doubt that players like Kaprizov, Boldy and Hughes have turned the Wild into an appealing spot for players around the league. Now, they sit and wait and hope they can find a way to sway Yzerman to send his captain west.

If they strike out or Yzerman chooses to wait to move Larkin later in the summer, it’ll be interesting to see their Plan B. It’s not as simple as moving on to Vincent Trocheck since he’d require significant assets, and we know the Wild have few remaining.

They could simply continue to be patient and wait for that perfect center — Larkin or another (Auston Matthews?) — to shake from the trees later this offseason or into next season.


I can see the later happening before we use up our limited trade assets on Trocheck.

Sounds like Billy is pushing hard to make a deal for Larkin by the end of draft weekend. Guerin has supposedly been in contact with Yzerman and Larkin's agent on a daily basis.

Wild have one fifth left.

I am finding it harder and harder to see how we are going to get Larkin without blowing up the rest of the team......we just don't have the tradeable assets.

Detroit doesn't want Yurov, Stramel, etc. We trade them to a team that wants them for assets that Detroit wants.

I have a feeling the Wild will ultimately overpay to get Larkin. Not just to get him on our roster, but to keep him off Dallas and LV. The window is open right now with Hughes, Faber, Kaprizov, Boldy and Ek. They need that man in the middle to pair with KK. If Larkin goes to another in the west, the Wild get bumped down a slot among contenders.

Thanks. Doesn't it all depend on what we or they have to give up to get him? If he costs too much trading for him is one step forward and two steps back or is this wrong?

I think he will be a fun one to watch for a few years as a Gopher before he turns pro.

As much as Detroit GM thinks it favors him waiting this out.....Anders Lee and others will replace Dylan Larkin if he doesn't decide to pull the trigger.

The way Russo makes it sound Brink did them a favor by signing that contract.
A little tidbit from his article in the Athletic:

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Make no mistake, Bobby Brink did the Minnesota Wild a solid on Tuesday.

Arbitration is a tricky proposition for teams. It’s all based on the math, and at 0.46 points per game in his career (98 points in 214 games), the Wild discovered Brink could be staring at a $4 million award if he opted for arbitration next month.

In most cases, the player and the club would compromise on a two- or three-year deal in the $3.5 million range before the player reached his arbitration hearing.

Brink could have become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday at 11 a.m. and likely gotten more than the one-year deal he agreed to with the Wild on Tuesday, worth $2.75 million.

It sounds like a win-win for both Brink and the Wild. The kid showed flashes and just needs to be consistent.

I agree. I think he should wait until the situation in Detroit gets bad with an unhappy captain souring the mood of the entire team and he has no choice but to trade him away. To me 3 firsts and Yurov is an overpay anyways.....

The deadline for getting something done I believe is today.....so we will see.

I like Yurov's future even better than Rossi's.

All signs point this morning to Nick Foligno continuing his NHL career and returning to the #mnwild.

Also hear Zach Bogosian will be forgoing free agency and re-signing with the Wild.

Neither one of these two was worth signing at this point. It's very telling that the Wild system hasn't produced a defenseman who allows the Wild to move on from Bogosian.

Billy G must have really pissed off Zuccy to make him sign with LA for the minimum within minutes of free agency opening.....
