ORIGINAL: TJSweens Hall of Famers produced from the 24 year Calvin Griffith era; Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew, Tony Olivia, Jim Kaat, Bert Blyleven, Kirby Puckett. Hall of Famers from the 42 year Pohlad era; Joe Mauer. Calvin was a miserly old bigot, but he and the people he surrounded himself with, sure knew talent. Twins players of recent vintage have been kinda screwed on the HOF ballot. Nathan and Johan both should have got more run on the HOF ballot. Nathan was the 2nd best reliever of his generation. Johan was the most dominant starting pitcher in baseball for a 6-year run. Hunter is hanging in there. Possibly could get a surge. Funny thing is, Johan and Nathan have better HOF cases than Hunter IMO. Not that Hunter has no argument. Also, I would give the Pohlads credit for Kirby. Why would you give the Pohlads credit for Kirby? Griffith drafted him, developed him and brought him up to the majors. The Pohlads marketed him and made him a star. Nonsense. he was already a star before they bought the team. Were you even born yet? Wrong. Kirby debuted in May 1984. The Pohlads bought the Twins in June 1984. No way was he already a star. Point to me. No points for you and what a stupid rationale. 1. Carl Pohlad bought the team on July 31. By then Puckett was batting .303, was making big defensive plays and had stolen 7 stolen bases. He was on his way. Another Griffith discovery, Tony Oliva, would get him the rest of the way there. Not only do you get no points, you lose points.
