Kick kick kick

Twins were in on Valdez according to Doogie Wolfson.

Probably like the initial bid on eBay.

You know. I couldn't give a rats ass who we've been "IN ON" When we never sign any of them anyway. They are reporting this shit because there is nearly nothing else to report on regarding the Twins. It's a typical offseason, "kick" the tires on good Free agents, sign some flotsam and jetsam and pray they catch lightning in a bottle. Nothing new here. It's one of the reasons the Falvey departure was such a big story, something significant ACTUALLY HAPPENED THAT THEY CAN REPORT ON.

I messaged Matt on who I actually thought they would go after.
Peralta and Andujar.
Neither were expensive and both could have helped........the problem isn't the 105 Million payroll. You still have to make smart moves.
Spending 4 million on Larnach wasn't a smart move....they should have taken that money and signed Andujar or traded for Peralta.

It is like when you overspend on the carpeting on your house by a few thousand then complain a dozen eggs costs $2.50 instead of $2. Completely shut it about payroll and make smart moves.

But to do nothing and pout like they did in 2023 & 24 offseasons....so stupid.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Twins Talk (2/5/2026 4:48:28 PM)

So if the Twins were really in on Valdez....

Gallen is a couple years younger and maybe Giolito? Honestly they had to think at Least 20 million for Valdez......Gallen will get at least 22-25.

Giolito or Littell could be had for cheap.....

Agreed. a lowball offer does mean 'in on'. Get back to me when you actually sign a notable free agent.

Sources say they wanted to spend some money. They don’t say what amount but still plenty of time to prove it. Sign Gallen and Kopech to stop the talk or trade Larnach for a piece.

Valdez was the first one the Twins were rumored to be in on.

@AaronGleeman

Twins have signed Gio Urshela to a minor league deal.

Urshela initially joined the Twins from the Yankees in the Josh Donaldson trade and was their primary third baseman in 2022. He was traded to the Angels the next winter.

Now he's 34 and hasn't hit much the past three years.

Yay, Yet another anemic hitting utility guy. Building a real winner here!

34 years old. OPS last year was 100 under career average.

Time to get him back into the Twins fold!

So disgusted with this move. AAA doesn't want him either I would bet.

twinsfan -> RE: General Twins Talk (2/12/2026 10:16:55 AM)

The Twins have signed fan favorite and All-Star Liam Hendriks.

TJSweens -> RE: General Twins Talk (2/12/2026 10:59:17 AM)

I predict a quadruple A championship.

twinsfan -> RE: General Twins Talk (2/12/2026 1:18:48 PM)

The Twins have signed LH reliever Anthony Banda.

This is his 9th team.

Surprisingly good pickup for just some surplus international pool money.

I am starting to envision the possibility of the Twins having a somewhat competent bullpen...

RHP Cole Sands
LHP Taylor Rogers
LHP Anthony Banda
RHP Liam Hendriks
RHP Justin Topa
RHP Eric Orze
LHP Kody Funderburk
RHP David Festa

Prielipp, Raya, Adams, etc. also in the mix

Well yeah. Building a bullpen is easy. We're gonna be good this year. Everyone panicked for nothing.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: General Twins Talk (2/12/2026 6:16:51 PM)

Promotion schedule is out. No promotions tied to a specific player past June. Because...you know.

They need to resist the idea of moving Prielipp to the pen.

Good?
It is like the Major League movie right now. I have Wesley Snipes visions right now.
.500 is average and they probably won’t get there.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Hendricks is a shell of his former self. It's why we were able to sign him to a minor league deal, Banda is the definition of journeyman Rogers is a shell of his former self. The rest have shown signs of competence but not yet consistantly. a lot has to go right for this team to succeed.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Twins Talk (2/16/2026 10:57:20 AM)

Runner-up for the Twins’ managing job that Derek Shelton got last October was James Rowson, the Twins’ former hitting coach who is hitting coach for the New York Yankees. After Shelton got the job, he tried to hire Rowson as his bench coach, but the Yankees declined permission. Had he been permitted, people who know say Rowson would have accepted a Twins bench coaching offer.
