truly the only things that should warrant a [:-] at this point is

1. Pohlads change their mind again and actually sell the team
2. Twins sign three big name Free Agents and add to payroll

Otherwise, nothing should be shocking at this point.

It's not a matter of expectation. There is nothing momentous about hiring Sizemore. If Joe Maddon joined the coaching staff, that would have warranted a [:-]

I have a feeling that's the plan. They plan to burn this thing to the ground and start over.

The Twins will do nothing between now and spring training to improve. That’s a given. It will never happen. At best it will be the usual couple of over the hill damaged bargain basement FAs that nobody else wanted. At worst, the purge will continue, with nobody being safe. Especially Ryan/Lopez/Buxton.

Prepare for a winter of them touting the farm system. As if that matters. It only matters if some of those fabulous prospects eventually lead to playoff success. Instead we get an endless cycle of unloading them in a few years at the deadline because once again they didn’t get us there…but oh boy look the prospects we got!

I was on a call with Derek Shelton and Cory Provus last night. Both Dustin and I got through to ask questions. Cory was very impressed there is a season ticket holder in Nashville.

He ought to be impressed that there is still a season ticket holder at all.

Yes. His follow up question should have been "Season ticket holder? Just why, man?"

jimbo -> RE: General Twins Talk (11/14/2025 5:49:56 PM)

Season ticket holder who gives a %%%%, congratulations I’ve been a twins fan my whole life,
If I lived across the street I couldn’t buy a ticket right now. Sell the team I’m back in.

https://www.twinkietown.com/minnesota-twins-news/50097/twins-acquire-eric-orze-from-rays-add-connor-prielipp-5-other-prospects-to-40-man-roster

We acquired a strike out machine for the bullpen.

Who you ask?

Yeah I really hadn't heard of him either and we gave up what? Flotsam. How good can the guy we added be?

Also put some guys on the 40 to protect from Rule V

With it being Rule 5 protection day, there was a flurry of minor moves around MLB and the Twins got involved as well. Reliever Eric Orze, a casualty of the Tampa Bay Rays’ roster crunch, was acquired for minor league pitcher Jacob Kisting. Addtionally, the Twins protected a slew of their own prospects from the Rule 5 draft, adding LHP Connor Prielipp, OF Gabriel Gonzalez, LHP Kendry Rojas, RHP Andrew Morris, OF/1B Hendry Mendez, and RHP John Klein to the 40-man roster. The roster is now full at 40 players, though their will be plenty of moves to come as we get into the offseason.

Orze, 28, was solid for Tampa Bay last season, throwing 41.2 innings with a 3.02 ERA/3.46 FIP and a decent 22.5% strikeout rate and a bad 10.7% walk rate. For Orze to be an effective big leaguer, he’ll need to reign in his walks even more, but he also has a splitter that ranks among the league’s best. There’s plenty to like here if Pete Maki and the Twins’ staff can keep him in the zone more often. The Twins sent 22-year-old Jacob Kisting to the Rays, who threw 72 innings between Low and High A since being drafted in the 14th round in 2024.

Now the prospects. First up is Prielipp, either the top or second-best pitcher in the Twins’ system depending on which outlet you refer to. The former second-round pick has all the tools to be a dominant MLB pitcher for years; the only thing holding him back is his health. Two elbow surgeries have limited him to just 112 total innings since being drafted in 2022, but has arguably the best slider in the minors while after holding a mid-90s fastball. Prielipp’s immediate path to success might be in the bullpen where his inning totals can be more easily managed, which Derek Falvey has already insinuated could happen as soon as next year, but should get a chance to move back to the rotation after he builds up his workload.

Great get by the Twins! Splitters are becoming a huge weapon for many on our staff.

I absolutely hate this idea. Drew McPhail was recently quoted that the Twins view Prielipp as a top of the rotation starter. Short term moves to the bullpen usually turn permanent. Duran's move to the rotation was supposed to be short term and a way to get him to the majors. The Twins kept him there even though he begged for a chance to start in year 2. The Twins are sure to part with Lopez, Ryan and Ober by the trade deadline. Keep Prielipp in a starters role and preparing as a starter. Starters are more important than closers.

It also ruined Trevor May as a starting pitcher. They said it was temporary. We knew it was not.

Let Prielipp keep starting in the minors. CAll him up when the inevitible injury happens and let him take his lumps.

Twins innings pitched leaders over the past 50 years:

TJSweens -> RE: General Twins Talk (11/20/2025 11:26:01 AM)

That's a pretty weak list for 50 years. Two things factor into it. 1) The Twins have never been good at drafting and developing pitchers. 2) When they do draft and develop a good pitcher, they trade him as soon as they have to pay him.
