Buxton is willing to waive his no-trade clause, which puts the Twins in an interesting position. If the paucity of frontline free agent outfielders prompts a team to make an offer for Buxton, how seriously would Minnesota take it? And if Buxton goes, does that mean the Twins would be open to dealing some of their pitching, too? The Twins are one of the most fascinating teams this winter because of the possibilities at their disposal.

Fascinating like a train wreck?

So we're either going to be really bad or historically bad?

I think Jeff Passan is pretty plugged in.

Into the train wreck?
At this point will be the same as the Athletics.....just above the minimum----80 million and the Players Union won't sue.

$27 for TwinsFest tickets this year. They used to be complimentary to season ticket holders!!! This is insane. It's a power grab.

Are they back to busting car windows and throwing season tickets on the seats again?

Ethan
2:05 What’s a fair package for Pablo Lopez if the Mets were to trade for him?
Jason Martinez
2:08 Starting pitching is valuable so it won't be cheap. Mets farm system is stacked, though, so they can afford it. For two seasons of Lopez, I'll say either Sproat or Tong, either Jacob Reimer, Jett Williams or AJ Ewing, and maybe a 3rd prospect with high upside but far from the big leagues.

Twins investor revealed to be Verde Group. Are you all happy now? It was never gonna be earth-shattering. Just another group of rich people.

No, I'm not happy. The Pohlads still own the team.

If they let Falvey spend to a top 15 market team I really don't care. Sounds like the are keeping the 3 cornerstones then????

Ask me again when Spring Training starts.

Claiming they want to keep them could very well be a tactic to drive up the trade price....

So who else would own the team?

You would either have Rich People that want to win regardless (Vikings, Wild, Timberwolves) or Rich People whose business were struggling mightily and tied the loans to their main asset (Twins).

As bad as many thought Glenn was as an owner at times he never spent like the Twins Owners.....in fact he has in history let them spend.

To be fair, he really couldn't if he wanted to.

In the NBA, the salary floor is 90% of the cap. So the most he ever could've saved by being cheap was between 1.5 and 10M each year. With 21 of his ownership years being under 6M.

And he only went over the cap and into the luxury tax twice in his (sole) ownership.

Sir, this is a Wendy's.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Twins Talk (12/9/2025 11:17:17 AM)

So if the rumor is true and the payroll can get to $110 million and we are at $95 million.

Start with?
Trade Larnach Cuts 4 million
Sign O'Hearn 2/23

Leaves about 8 million......other TwinsDaily rumors has us maybe trading Jeffers away.....

I don't...we have all kinds of LH OF. 1B/DH and the best is O'Hearn and his splits aren't bad and he is reasonable. Now if you said a RH OF I might agree.

Current LH OF:

Wallner
Larnach
Roden
Jenkins
Outmann
ERod

TJSweens -> RE: General Twins Talk (12/9/2025 5:48:38 PM)

Twins came out of the lottery with the #3 pick of the draft.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: General Twins Talk (12/10/2025 12:20:41 PM)

Perhaps a prelude to a signing?

Twins release Carson McCusker from the 40 moan roster.

But then McCusker really sucked at the Major league level and though he had a good first half with the Saints...well tailed off bigly in the second half.

So it could just be acknowledgement that he sucks.

TJSweens -> RE: General Twins Talk (12/10/2025 2:14:26 PM)

They dropped McCusker to clear a spot on the 40 man roster to draft a rule 5 catcher from the As and trade him to the Giants for a 17 year old catcher from the Dominican league.

On queue Hayes says the Twins are looking at Hoskins, O'Hearn, and Bell......when I see the list----which one can they get cheapest (even though O'Hearn is the best bat and an All Star last year).

The A’s first-round pick in 2022, Daniel Susac has risen quickly up their farm system. At age 24, he spent 2025 in AAA-Las Vegas, slashing .275/.349/.483 with 18 home runs across 97 games. He also threw out 26 percent of base stealers, but made eight errors and allowed six passed balls.

In exchange for Susac, the Twins received 17-year-old catching prospect Miguel Caraballo. In the Dominican Summer League, the switch-hitting Caraballo slashed .264/.432/.442 across 41 games.

No Twins prospects were selected by any other clubs in the Major League portion of the draft. In the minor league (AAA) portion, Minnesota lost relievers Aaron Sozak and John Stankiewicz while adding reliever Sam Ryan and outfielder Garrett Spain.

A switch-hitting catcher is such a luxury. Ryan Doumit is the last one I remember playing for the Twins, although he played other positions too. Caraballo will be an interesting guy to keep an eye on.

Post from Twins Daily:

As if Twins Territory needed any more numbers to remind us of the Pohlads right-sizing the business.

The prize of the Duran trade was a teenage catcher. Now we traded away a catcher who might be ready next season for another teenage catcher.

I actually have no problem with that move. The Twins already signed Jackson to back up Jeffers. This created a longshot scenario for the rule 5 catcher. Trading him for Caraballo adds organizational depth at catcher without the rule 5 contingency.
