Health is a question for every back.

Walker III has been often hurt in his career, but stayed healthy late in the season, and for a playoff run with a SB win.

Barkley stayed healthy for 1 season in Philly, and was healthy for a playoff run and Super Bowl win.

I think Taylor is really the RB to get, but Hall is good, and Vidal could be a bargain. Is there anything else out there for RBs ?

Is Hall healthy now?

The Bears are sending two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder to the Titans for Jeff Simmons. A monster deal.

Seattle -> Nelson
49ers -> Buckner
Bears -> Simmons

ooof.... hate that those guys ended up in the NFC

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/29/2026 10:57:50 AM)

Is Hall healthy ?

" Hall returned to practice last week for two limited sessions. He was listed as questionable on Friday but didn’t seem to be in the running to play by Sunday morning. The Jets ultimately ruled him out before kickoff. That ramp-up period suggests he should be back to face the Patriots this week. Braelon Allen has likely played himself into a large role even once Hall is healthy, but the latter should still operate as the team’s clear No. 1 back this week, putting him in the RB2 mix versus Las Vegas. "

Mason missed 4 games, and now Jones might miss some time, so getting a RB might not be a bad idea.

The health is the big key....maybe it will happen?

All trench guys, two of which are good DTs our shitty IOL will have to try to deal with this year.

Rich
I brought up Breece Hall last year, thought he would have paired well with Mason.
Someone thought it was just a fantasy, another thought it was too expensive, another claimed I was obsessing about it, just because I stood behind it, while really only mentioning it a few times.
I agree with you Rich that Hall is a stud, I was right that the Vikings should have gotten him last year. They might get him this year, if Taylor is "just a fantasy".

Real Simple---Is he even healthy?

Who knows? He's still good, but he's nowhere near the explosive back he was before he tore up his knee.

Still dynamic if he gas a hole and a good pass catcher, but he's now a guy who goes down at first contact and no longer has that top end speed.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/29/2026 12:49:54 PM)

It isn't, and never was, about acquiring a good RB. It is always about the cost in picks/players/cap to acquire one. And that's assuming the other team even wants to trade.

And not every RB is suitable for the blocking scheme KOC uses. We don't need another mismatched Herschel Walker.

Moreover, the OL/IOL run blocking is not to par. THAT needs to be fixed.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/29/2026 12:56:23 PM)

I was for Breece Hall last year, but am not for getting him this year, doesn't move the needle enough against all these NFC teams that are raising the bar.

Jonathon Taylor is the only RB worth getting, to move the needle.

Are there any other guards available to trade for ?

Landon Dickerson?
Ben Bredeson?
Jackson Powers Johnson?

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/29/2026 2:18:45 PM)

I like Landon Dickerson of the 3, based on a little reading.

Jackson Powers Johnson sounds like a cool name [8|]

Are we sure Tampa Bay is selling, they are only a game out of 1st right now ?

Simmons cost them a lot, but worth every pick:

Simmons is the league's best defensive tackle. In 2025, he set career highs with 11 sacks and 17 tackles for loss. He leads all tackles in pass-rush win rate, and now slots next to Grady Jarrett, who ranks second in run-stop win rate.

The 29-year-old makes $35.2 million per year, third-most at his position, and is signed through his age-33 season. Remember, DTs age better than any other defenders. As for cap purposes, Caleb Williams remains on his rookie contract through 2027, when Simmons' guaranteed money ends.

My God.

Seattle gets Quentin Nelson from the Colts for a 2027 3rd pick, and a 2028 5th.
The Vikings could have given up both of those in 2027.
We have he Eagles 2027 3rd, which is looking better than Seattle's and we have 3 5th round picks.

WTF???

teasley's mentors in seattle asked him to back off of nelson talks....

Or we didn't have the 9 Million in cap space.

that would have been the easiest part of the deal....

i feel like teasley is already getting his ass kicked pre-deadline...we don't have the blockers to allow taylor to be a game changer...nelson & taylor would have made a difference...we should make a move for that guard on the panthers....

That seems like a bit of a rush to judgement.

Heck, maybe Teasley isn't sold on this team... I don't know that I am yet with the offense in neutral.

FWIW
Rumor is that Nelson wanted to play in Seattle and colts did him a solid.

We pretty much have a bottom 5 offense. They're not going anywhere unless it's brought up to average.

Without some improvement on offense I wouldn't be surprised if they finish last in the North.

Three new starters sounds farfetched. They more likely said Tony Pollard, Ben Bredeson, OR Kirk Cousins....

all of their base salaries are lowish, and pollard and cousins don't extend beyond this year, so they won't cost much...bredeson's is at $6.5mm/'27....

it would be nice to have a fries replacement already signed for next season - maybe draft another guard and center on the 2nd day next draft....

It will still take a lot of draft picks just to get those teams to the table. Two of those players would be acquired as rentals and with Cousins you are buying high.

Anyway, a team making three trades for three players in a single season might be unprecedented. Teams unloading three players for a bunch of draft picks is more common.

Teasley came up through the ranks, most recently while seeing Seattle build largely through the draft. He doesn't strike me as a 'Watch This' or impulsive person but who knows.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/30/2026 12:22:13 PM)

Realistically, we could address one weak area via a trade.

There are still two weeks of football before the trade deadline. A few more teams might throw in the towel by then.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/30/2026 5:46:10 PM)

Just say 'NO' to Cousins.

According to fantasy football informational shorts, Kirk was feasting off weak pass defenses, the more challenging pass defenses are coming up for the Raiders, and they might be switching to Mendoza.

It also sounds like plenty of Kirk's stats are being boosted by garbage time yardage and TDs. He is also helped by Brock Bowers at TE, and the the threat of Jeanty

Kirk has always been a good regular season performer, who feasts on garbage time TDs, while his teams usually have a mediocre or even poor record. He has lost his last 4 starts.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/30/2026 5:48:56 PM)

I don't trust check down Kirk in a playoff game, I would rather go with the unknown.

Murray isn't exciting us just yet, someone on here is hopeful he plays until December, where Wentz takes over and gives us a good December followed by a long playoff run, that might be the best case scenario.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/31/2026 9:41:55 AM)

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50323095/sources-colts-willing-trade-star-rb-jonathan-taylor

The list of teams that have expressed at least some level of interest in trading for Taylor is thought to include the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks, sources said.

In 2022, the San Francisco 49ers traded second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-round picks to the Carolina Panthers for running back Christian McCaffrey. The Colts would seek a similar compensation package from teams looking to acquire Taylor, according to sources.
