LT rebounds and becomes the #3 receiver we all got sucked into believing he might be prior to the Packer game ...

That's just crazy man. I expect the same thing though.

You and I were the first on the Thielen bandwagon, so there is that.

My hope for overtaking the Rams is that we have two players coming in to fortify the offensive line and hopefully they come together through the course of the season. I was thinking that our shiny new safety/ linebacker (Iloka) would make an impact. Maybe he still will, and of course hopefully Johnson may help give us a little more juice on passing downs. We'll see. If we can just loosen up the defensive front a little bit more, our stud running back should shine. The offensive line does need to get better. That has been our weak point outside of third receiver and kicker.

I'll start thinking about a need to overtake the Rams if we don't beat them next Thursday.

They are already a half game ahead of us. We do need to overtake them and it starts with next Thursday. If we lose that game overtaking them becomes a longshot.

A longshot? Is the NFCCG in two weeks?

Its Week 3 (and Week 4 for the Rams game). Chill out.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/22/2018 10:41:25 AM)

If the Vikes want home field on the Rams, they very likely need to win that game.

Between this upcoming game [the Bills] and the Lions, one of them should be the most lopsided win of the season, going to go with the Lions. The Cardinal game should also be in the running, but the team could be a little flat after losing to the Iggles the previous week.

Vikes 34 Bills 13

It puts us 1.5 games behind them if we lose assuming we both win this week. If we fall that far behind them yes it is a longshot that we overtake them. I don't need to do any chilling out.

1.5 games back with 12 to go? Yeah, you do.

Bill Jandro -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/22/2018 12:33:41 PM)

We started last season 3-2 and then won 10 of 11 games,

So losing to the Rams wouldn't push the panic button. Hard spot to play in on the road Thurs night.

Absolute disagreement with you Ian. Even if we went 10-2 the rest of the way we would be unlikely to catch them. If we want HFA through the playoffs we better win that game.
I want to make one thing perfectly clear in my best Richard Nixon impersonation. I'm not saying if we lose we can't pass them. I'm saying it would be a longshot.

CPAMAN -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/22/2018 3:21:18 PM)

Until they can prove otherwise, the Vikings have a storied history of playing down to their level of competition. Vikings 23 Bills 19.

Maybe there is a history there, but its not contemporary. Stop being afraid of thinking (or believing) your team is good.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/22/2018 5:58:29 PM)

Yeah man, even that psycho Marty guy is picking a lopsided win [;)]

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/24/2018 12:31:37 PM)

I guess it's not a good omen when I predict a lopsided win. [:-]

bgdavis -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/25/2018 10:47:26 AM)

The Rams look legit this year. The Vikings don't. The game on Thursday is going to get ugly.

Rams: 34
Vikings: 13

bohumm -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/25/2018 12:20:43 PM)

Prediction: The GameDay thread is going to be a shitshow of psychodrama

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/25/2018 12:24:15 PM)

This the sorta game in the past, where I expected a Vikings loss, possibly by a wide margin, and the Vikes surprised and won.

But without Griffen, a loss, but just by a FG:

Vikings 24
Rams 27

The lopsided loss will come the following week at Philly.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (10/4/2018 11:14:28 AM)

Philly should be the most lopsided loss this season, Wentz is due for a game where he puts it all together. But Cousins is playing well, should be able to get a few prevent defense TDs from the Vikes' offense.

Philly will lead by 3 TDs at the start of the 4th quarter, but the Vikes will move to within one TD.

Philly 38
Minnes 31

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (10/5/2018 11:24:13 AM)

Maybe it won't be Wentz having an awesome day, there could be some chemistry issues (which could lead to them trading Foles, there might be some players on offense that prefer Foles) with the offense.

It might instead be an angry defense that gets the Vikes to turnover the ball a bunch of times:

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jalen-mills-takes-on-bullying-has-confidence-in-defense-despite-eagles-2-2-start/

I still think it will be the same exact score as least week, just hard to tell how the Eagles will get there. A special teams TD for them wouldn't be a big surprise.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (10/8/2018 1:15:03 PM)

I had the Vikes at 11-5 with a 1-4 start. So starting at 2-2-1, they should now finish 12-3-1, right ?

I was thinking before the season the Vikes might upset NE, and then either lose to NO in the revenge match, or lose a game they shouldn't to someone like the Lions.

NE and NO will both be a test, and both the Lions and Bears are probably better than I thought, we'll see.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (10/14/2018 12:20:52 AM)

The Vikes should ride on confidence after beating the Champs in their house. I wonder how teams that have beat the SB champs in their house [say in the last 20 years], have done in post season play that season ? [Assuming that team made the playoffs]

However, I don't think the rise in confidence will lead to immediate domination over any team they play. In fact, I think they will relax early in this one [Cousins hasn't always lit things up in the 1st half], be behind by 11 at halftime (24-13), but comeback and win it by a Bailey FG.

Vikes 27 Cards 24

Mark Anderson -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (10/14/2018 9:16:34 AM)

Vikes 34

Nice job Mark almost nailed it, just 7 off the Vikes. Pretty darn close !

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (10/20/2018 10:32:50 PM)

Vikes 27
Jets 24

ronhextall -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (10/23/2018 11:56:58 AM)

Bad feeling about this one:
Saints: 40
Vikings: 28

I have a Vision of Bridgewater coming in late to hand the ball off a couple of times.

Vikings are beat up on defense and Saints will be jacked up.
