Not really.  Too much talent here for that to happen.  But if we got the the SB, my cynism makes me believe that the Vikes will find some unique ****ed up way to blow it...and that, like taking a knee with the most prolific offense to date, or 41-0 bitchslapping will stick in my craw for ages.

In that case I wont be able to sleep for days due to the adrenalline rush and the permasmile will cause facial muscle issues no doubt.

Well...before we start making that Super Bowl plan....lets see if we can't get past the Lions this week. 

Its a must win, and I think the Vikes eek one out 27-21.

Should have seen this train wreck coming.

Favre got all the credit last year, but Sidney Rice was a BIG part of the success. The Bears also helped take away part of the swagger, by taking the screen pass away, taking Chester Taylor.

I don't think the Vikes have enought talent to overcome a poor HC. They can fire Bevell, just like they fired 2ndary coach Richard Solomon, but they still had Denny Green at HC, just like now they would still have Chili. The Vikes ALMOST had enough talent to overcome Denny Green, but it just can't be done. Green's teams usually melted to lopsided playoff losses, and Chili's would too if he didn't pick such good DCs.

I think they should IMMEDIATELY fire Chili AND Bevell, and make Leslie Frazier the HC. Just about ANY OC is a temporary improvement.

Prediction:

* Brett Favre will end his season, and career, in the Jet game. The good part is the Packers never get the 'sweet' revenge on him, just on the Vikings.

* I get the feeling TJACK will come in and play well. He'll probably be inconsistent, but he'll actually hit Berrian on deep passes. That should open up some stuff underneath, and his running should come in handy at times. He'll probably also have some bad games, but will probably play well enough to give fans SOME hope for next year.

I think things are still lining up for my Ravens over Saints SB. I also like Saints over Packers, and Ravens over Jets in the Championship games, might get all 4 of them correct, but that is pretty hard to get, and is a long ways off. I think I should have picked WASHINGTON to win the NFC East, although Vick, like Randall Cunningham, could overcome a poor HC and carry the Eagles to winning that division. Right now, I don't think the Cowboys nor the Giants are going to win it.

I DID have Washington and Miami going 9-7, so I was on target for them being good teams, but they MIGHT end up being even better than that.

The Bears are interesting. I've always thought Lovie Smith was a good coach, and adding Tice for the OL, Chester Taylor were good moves, and getting Peppers was a GREAT move. They are a physical team that plays hard. If they were a little bit better in their 2ndary, they could overtake the Packers for the division, and it might happen anyway.

It's really too hard to judge at this point in the year...I mean, the Bucs are 2-0.  Saints haven't looked close enough to dominant to repeat as division champs...much less SB champs.  They've only beaten (barely) a struggling Vikings team, and (barely) a team that may win the NFL's weakest division with a 7-9 record when all is said and done.  Packers look like the real deal, except that Oline is going to get Aaron Rodgers killed, and with their top RB out for the year...things aren't going to get easier for them and Clay Matthews is not going to continue to get 3 sacks a game (though I would like to see Strahan's phantom record beat).

Miami has to face New England and the Jets Twice each...so 9-7 is still possible.  Washington is in a pretty tough division too.  So you never know.

Oh, PLEASE.  They barely beat the Lions, at home, in their home opener despite knocking the Starting QB out of the game.  They have as bad, if not worse, OLine as the Packers and Cutler will eventually wilt under the pressure.  Their Defense is old and injury prone.  They beat up on the most overrated team coached by the coach with the greatest ability to get his players to underachieve currently in the league (Cowboys).

Point being is, it is too early to make any determinations on how the season will unfold.

I think the Packers are good, but they could also be a train wreck waiting happen, should the injuries start to mount. TGS, will you think A LOT more of the Bears if they manage to beat the Packers on Monday night ?

I don't know who TJS is, but TGS will not think better of the Bears.  They are winning right now with smoke/mirrors.


Yep, Cutler will be back to Cutler before you know it and that's all that will matter.

Some people (Packers fans) thought the Vikes were winning with smoke and mirrors last year, until the Vikes swept them. I know if the Bears 2ndary can stop the Packer WRs, but let's not forget the Bears beat the Vikes last year, and that was without Peppers, Taylor, Martz and Tice.

I had the Bears going 9-7 this year, the Vikes 10-6, and that is likely to be reversed, and I'm not sure the Vikes can even with NINE games this year with what we've seen so far.

The Bears offense will fall apart in December when they have to play games in the swirling winds of Soldier field.  Martz' pass happy attack wont fly there.  Just wont work.

That will be interesting TGS.

I expected the Bears to start out SLOW on offense, with lots of growing pains, and that is why I expect the Packers to edge them on Monday.

But at the end of the year, I think the Bears will be clicking on offense, assuming Martz has figured out that there ARE times where you should focus more on running the ball. The Bears should be good at running the ball, but something seems to be missing if they fail so many times at the 1 yard line against the Lions. Do they need a guard like Hutchinson in his prime ? Are the Lions MUCH stronger against short runs this year ?

I think the Bears pass offense will be allright later in the year because of Cutler's strong arm. IF he has confidence and a mojo, he'll do fine. But then, there is also the question of whether the Bears WRs are good at adjusting to the ball. I'm not sure they're much better than the current Vikings' WRs (although Hester had a really nice catch in the last game), the Packers clearly have the edge in the division with THIS department.

What is missing in the Bears running game is that they have no Oline.  Mike Tice can only do so much, remember when he coached our Oline he had Jeff Christy, Randall McDaniel, Kory Stringer and despite all the false starts Todd Steussie.  That was a lot of good talent to work with.

I would too.

Contrary to what most people think, we do have talent on this line...it's just not properly used.  We have behemoths on the line doing what much smaller men should be doing.  Our guys should be mauling the DLine and linebackers.  Not playing this zone blocking scheme which isn't suited for them.  The problem is could Tice convice the dipshit in charge that he needs to change that scheme?

I'm not defending BC or attacking anyone......but how in the hell does EVERYBODY know we shouldn't be zone blocking except our head coach?
We do lack talent and experience on the OL. It has been pretty evident for sometime now.

I know it's popular to deride the Vikings for using a "zone blocking" scheme, but it's my understanding that it isn't a choice made for the KA offense, but to accommodate for AD's running style.  The same is true about how far back he lines up in the formation.

Yep...One of the first things he installed.  then he proceeded to add Anthony Herrera and Phil Loadholt to the scheme.  When replacing guys on the line he should have opted toward mor mobile smaller guys better suited to the system.

I think we will smash the Lions on Sunday. We're 15-1 in the last 16 against them and were desperate. The Lions may have played the Bears and Eagles tough but they easily could've lost both games by 20+. Favre moves the chains, Adrian does his thing even though he has a tendency to fumble vs Detroit and our defense gets to Hill. I see the Lions turning it over 3+ times and our offense scoring TDs. I see a 34-13 win.
