I really tried to be objective & not reactionary but I think Childress has lost this team & the few remaining who have not blown him off will do so in the next 3-4 weeks. With Fraizer I think we finish 7-9 or 8-8.

That makes his record, including playoffs 7-9 since his extention. Bad...but not bad enough for termination. It could be by season's end though...if that's all you're going to go by.

You want to be successful in the NFL, you have to win all your home games and half of your road games. Chilly isn't even coming close to that. Struggles mightily outside of the Metrodump.

I think BESIDES having a poor HC, having an old QB that doesn't throw deep, makes it hard to win on the road. Add to that, because he is pass happy we don't take a road game over with our running attack (which IS very hard to do anyway, unless you have one of the best backs in the league), so defenses key on the Vikes short and intermediate passing game, knowing the Vikes won't go deep on them. The last road game they won was the game Favre was focussed on winning to get back at Ted Thompson. After that was taken care of, Favre hasn't won a road game since then.

We NEVER have defenses playing on their heels, they are always playing downhill against us. That is about to get much worse.

A thundering, nearly riotous cacophony of boos, chants and insults greet Childress as soon as his bald head is seen by the fans. This continues as the Vikings play a stale, uninspired (typical) first half and go to halftime trailing 10-3. As the Vikings emerge from the tunnel in the second half, all players remove their helmets and are sporting Randy Moss-style wigs. The crowd erupts with delirious cheering that shakes the stadium. Favre starts calling audibles on nearly every play as the Vikings blow out the Cards 38-10. Before the players leave the field, the following message appears on the scoreboard: "Brad Childress has been relieved of his duties with the Minnesota Vikings." Zygmunt Wilf

I was going to post a prediction before the Bears game, that Vikes would lose by about 14, but in my apathy, never got around to it. On Tuesday, 11/16/10, it WILL be announced that Brad Childress has been fired as coach of the Minnesota Vikings, and Leslie Frazier will take over as interim HC. I do NOT think this is really going to happen, and I am going to do ANOTHER 360 (SYBIL speaks) and tell Wilf that I am now o.k. with him firing Childress THIS week. It was a selfish reason that I did NOT want Childish fired this week, because I did NOT want the Pack getting the joy of beating the Vikes after the Vikes got a new coach, and I did NOT want the WORSE case scenario where the Packers are aided by a 'sway' as almost ALL the bettors bet Minnesota to win at home with their new coach, even though the Packers are coming off a bye. I now don't CARE, I can NOT stand Chili, and want the insanity that surrounds him to be GONE (some are even talking of trading PETERSON!). I think there will still be ENOUGH rational bettors to take GB coming off the bye to beat Minnesota to where the refs won't get too carried away with a 'sway'. Losing to the Pack, even with Sidney Rice back in the lineup is going to be even MORE frustrating. Sidney will realize this is NOT the same, motivated, sharp Favre that he played with last year, but an older, distracted, error prone, slow of foot QB that should be on the bench. The ONLY way the team is truly energized is with Chili being fired, and MAYBE with TJACK playing QB. The combination of the two could work quite well. I've given up on Favre, gave up on him a few games ago, I've seen enough. I wanted him for entertainment last year, and we got plenty of that. Now I want the team to put together a championship team, so it's time to put Frazier as interim HC, bench Favre, figure out what you have, and start putting together the pieces.

So much for the firing, perhaps I should have went with 10/23 ? IF Favre finishes the game, I think it will end up almost EXACTLY like the game at GB, except I think a Packer will end up getting a pick, knocking the ball down, or pushing the WR out of bounds. I don't think Favre WILL finish the game. I think Favre is going to get hurt after getting getting hit by Matthews. The Vikes are going to be down 2 TDs, and TJACK is going to play well and rally the team to a tie. And then I expect Capers will blitz TJACK and he'll get hit as the ball as released on a critical play, leading to an INT for the Pack. Packers 31 Vikings 24

I got the Packers right with 31, and MIGHT have had the Vikes score right if TJACK had been inserted at QB. I guess with Favre staying in, 3 is about right. I should have made a separate prediction for if Favre plays the whole game. I had some thoughts this morning about how I think the NFL becomes SOMEWHAT predictable in that they crave things being unpredictable, and sometimes favor underdogs to keep up parity. You don't know when refs will mess with a game, as they just do it from time to time. IF they do NOT mess with a game, the outcomes sometimes are very predictable. I think the Vikes MAY have been on the positive side of 'sways' the last 2 weeks, they were just playing so poorly they couldn't take advantage of it against the Bears in Chicago. I WISH I had posted this this morning before the games, but didn't have time. After seeing such a lopsided Monday night game last week, I was thinking they would probably need to help Washington with favorable officiating so they wouldn't necessarily win, but cover the spread in a tough road game at Tennessee. From the little I saw of the game, that WAS the case, AND they WON the game. As hot as Philly looked, I was thinking the Giants would probably need help from the officials as many might see easy money to be made on Philly, in Philly. From what I've seen of THAT game, that HAS been the case. It'll be interesting to see how that game plays out.

It's looks like the Eagles overcame what may have been a 'sway' in the Giants' favor. Sometimes talent overcomes baised officiating, like when Vick went into Lambau and pulled the upset in the playoffs. They're only going to call holding on his long runs so many times. The big play against the Giants was the 4th and 2 where Vick flipped it to McCoy. The Giants get the stop there, I and I think they probably WIN the game (with the officials on their side). I'm going to guess the bettors won out on this one, as I'm thinking more bettors probably went with the Eagles at home (looking SOOOO good at Washington last week).

Chargers get revenge on Jets as their defense surprisingly pushes them to victory. Colts vs Ravens, Chargers vs Pats Rice runs wild, Ed Reed pick clinches it for the Ravens. Rivers outduels Brady in a thriller. Ravens vs Chargers Rivers abuses the Ravens secondary and Ravens miss a FG to tie late. Chargers NFC East: Eagles NFC North: Bears NFC South: Saints (Homefield) NFC West: Seahawks WC: Packers and Falcons Bears vs Packers, Falcons vs Seahawks Packers beat up on the Bears after the Bears snatched the division @Lambeau. Still sticking with my prediction before the season of Baltimore over the Saints in the SB. I could see the Eagles taking the NFC, talent can overcome a bad coach to a point, just like the Vikings almost went to the SB last year. Motivated talent, like Vick, COULD go far, but I still think Andy Ried will do that team in SOMEHOW in the playoffs. So if it's the Eagles and Ravens, I think the Ravens will claw their way to victory. I think that would be an exciting SB. Since I believe either the NFL 'powers that be' prefer parity, or that they 'mess with games at times with biased officiating', I was looking forward to the Vikes getting some favorable officiating in the next 6 games. However, sometimes a 'sway' can be in order if too much is wagered on one team. I HOPE the spread doesn't move with Min/Was, but I suspect IF it does, there might be heavy betting on Minnesota. Several people I asked are picking Minnesota, and I think the MAIN reason (besides a fresh memory of Washington losing badly at home to the Eagles) is the fresh memory of Dallas gets new coach = team playing hard and pulling an upset on the road against a good team. Therefore, the Vikes with a new coach, playing hard on the road, against a mediocre team, should be a good bet to bet on Minnesota, right ? [sm=shrug.gif] My BIGGEST beef with Frazier, is he is NOT aggressive enough with the defense, doesn't gamble high like a Ryan, and the defense doesn't produce turnovers. I suspect he'll also be conservative with the offense, few if any deep balls (which doesn't matter because Favre can't throw an accurate deep ball past 40 yards, but he MIGHT complete the next one as he's due). I think we'll see more of the same with Favre, some nice plays, but plenty of opportunities for picks. I think the Vikes will play the 'Skins close, but either due to a late Favre INT, or biased reffing (FOR the Redskins) COMBINED with a late Favre INT, will lead to a 'Skins victory. He's a very good coach with one major flaw which hasn't been as evident this season in clock management. 3rd best record overall in a decade. The job he's done with Vick, building the offense to suit the players he has at his disposal has been remarkable IMO.

My preseason prediction was Baltimore over Atlanta in the Super Bowl. While both teams are on pace to challenge for that, I really don't like what I see from them despite their good records. My Predics for playoffs based on what I see right now: NFC East: Eagles 12-4 (big game at Bears, they also must beat Giants in rematch to have a shot at #1 seed) North: Packers 12-4 (the critical game for them is this week, if they can beat ATL they have inside shot at #1 seed in NFC) South: Saints 12-4 (I see them beating ATL in rematch and winning division on tiebreaker) West: Seahawks 8-8 (who cares - scrificial lamb) WC1: Falcons 12-4 (I see them losing to Packers and Saints - if they win either they probably win division and #1 seed) WC2: Giants 10-6 (hold tie breaker over Bears) 1. Packers 2. Eagles 3. Saints 4. Seahawks 5. Falcons 6. Giants Saints over Giants Falcons over Seahawks Packers over Falcons Ssaints over Eagles Packers over Saints AFC East: Jets (big showdown next Sun night at Foxboro) North: Ravens South: Colts (however, if the Jags can upset the Giants this weekend they could possibly take this division if Chargers beat Colts) West: Chargers WC1: Patriots (even if Pats beat the Jets, they have back to back games at Chicago and against Packers that could bring them back to Jets) WC2: Steelers (passing game isn't sharp without Holmes - very dumb trade. I see a very tight game tonight. The Texans will score a lot on the Eagles. Asante Samuel is still hurt and their pass defense is not the same without him.

I think the Vikes are catching the Bills at a bad time, and this who Johnson dropping the winning TD could be what leads to a Bills' upset. Maybe the Steeler 2ndary got some hits on him that later disturbed his focus ? The Vikes do NOT tend to get hits that later do that to WRs, but it would be good if they DID do that in this game. The Vikings' defense has been overachieving, keeping the scoring down on some great offenses, I am concerned that the Bills are just the type of team the Vikes will underestimate. The Bills can score points, and the Vikings' offense is NOT used to putting up a lot of points in a shootout, it is more of a slow plodding offense, led by an INT prone QB, that might be without its' most explosive RB. I think the Vikes COULD blow the Bills out if they get an early lead, Jared Allen was talking of doing that because the Vikes got embarassingly blown out at home by the Packers. I fear that if it's a close game, either Smith will get a game winning TD, or it will be somebody like Lee Evans, and I think it will be Evans. Bills 31 Vikes 27

I love your predictions marty. It could be a close game the Vikings win, it could be a blowout for the Vikings, it could be a game where the Vikings don't score much and the Bills could score a lot.... But the prediction is the Bills win a close one. I agree with all of the above [:D]

Prescott, I was SPECULATING a blowout if the Vikes get an early lead, but I do NOT think that is going to happen. To me, the most likely scenario is a close game that the BILLS pull out, and I'm saying the focus will be on Johnson, but it will be Lee Evans catching the game winner. And THAT is my prediction. Bills 31 Vikes 27 I think the Bills could even win by a wide margin, as Favre playing from behind without Harvin could be INT city.
