Austin just had ice water in his veins at the line down the stretch. Best way to defeat the foul strategy is just make your damn free throws.

Was nice to see Hollins take charge in that game.

Dre is a mess. Eliason isn't doing anything to help the offense. King has surged.

Rayno says Dre's issues are mental.

Down with Goldy thinks he's still missing explosion.

Whatever it is...not the same player post-ankle.

Matheiu, honestly. How do you let yourself get trapped that quickly? And then follow up with that miserable pass? Come on.

Happy someone else was freaking out on that sequence.
Good God. That was ineptitude at its highest level.
Dribble into pressure. Throw it away BACK towards their basket. Sigh. Whatdya do with a guy like that .....

Particularly frustrating because he's smarter than that. At least, I feel like he should be.

I like our chances to win it all. Here we come, New York!!

I'm calling Shenanigans on you being a Minnesotan. There was about 5 minutes left and you declared it a win already? You clearly are not a hoser [;)]

Yep. [&:]
I'm thinking we do like we did last time ... Stroll into NY, crush someone in the semis, get everyone in MN excited, and then get shit-canned in the Final.
THATs typical minnesota.

I turned that game on five minutes in and it was already over. Reminded me of 41-0. [&:]

Continuing my theme ...
So fun to see the Barn gradually regaining some excitement
The poor kids who attend the U deserve some fun seasons SOON
Would love to see the Barn and TCF become rockin houses the next couple years.

Dave E -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/26/2014 11:31:26 AM)

Here, here.

Things certainly looking up. This hoops team, even if it didn't make the tournament -- is so much more confident. I think Pitino is doing a great job of putting them in positions to succeed and wringing just about all he can out of them. So much fun to watch.

Hope he likes it here. If VCU can hold onto Smart in the face of offers from premium schools, why can't we?

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/26/2014 1:26:39 PM)

Did you guys see toward the end when Dre Austin shot a basket when there was still something like 20 seconds on the shot clock? They were trying to use up as much time as they could with a minute and a half or so left in the game, so on every possession the idea was to take the shot clock down to single digits before shooting.

Right after that shot, Pitino called a time out and when Austin walked over Pitino gave him the raised eyebrows and the shrug, as if to say "Dre? Dre? Whatcha doing man?" We both burst out laughing because we knew exactly what he was thinking.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/26/2014 1:27:51 PM)

Didn't dig the hushing the crowd when they were serenading Hollins
Let the kid soak it in
He deserved some lovin

You just confused the hell out of me.

Should I write slower? [:D]

FWIW, I understood you. Caught that exchange between the coach and Dre.

Pitino really expresses his emotions facially, funny to watch sometimes. No poker face there.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/27/2014 9:55:39 AM)

She called a Gophers player Dre Austin. That's confusing, right?

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/27/2014 10:08:43 AM)

Wow, I read it four times and never caught that slip-up.
You really are an accountant.

Ooops - you're right. Dre Hollins.

Much better than the "Tubby death stare".

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/27/2014 10:35:53 AM)

Anyone watch the FSU game last night?
Beatable?

and yeah ... I know we played em before ...

Dave E -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/27/2014 10:45:04 AM)

Didn't see it, but I heard they did not look particularly good in winning the game.

I always thought that was also known as a blank look on a person's face when the person has no clue.

Nothing tops "Glen Mason Face"

I skimmed it fast so didn't register that slip up.

She also referred to him as Austin later in this sentence... "when Austin walked over Pitino gave him the raised eyebrows and the shrug, as if to say "Dre? Dre? Whatcha doing man?"

Now I understand why you were confused.

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/27/2014 12:05:26 PM)

Bo Ryan and Wisconsin in the Final Four. There is no God.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/31/2014 1:19:32 PM)

You nailed that.
Did you hear the poor guys Dad died?
Prime of his life, took him just like that (snap!)
Sad story. First coach who ever lost a parent I believe.
