And another Minnesota team chokes one away.

So tired.

Yep

This bunch has a lot to figure out. Sloppy

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/7/2015 8:20:08 AM)

Nice comeback, but we gave up way too many easy ones to OSU down the stretch. OSU kept finding an open man cutting towards the hoop. Gophers had no idea how to defend it.

And blame for not defending opponents cutting to the basket from the baseline falls on Pitino....over and over, and nobody stopped them....sad, as it was a very winnable game!!

Made good adjustments on the kid who scored 25.

Only adjustment he could make to the back-door cut would be playing guys who can play defense.
Morris got pulled. He plays very little "good" defense, and neither King, nor Buggs box out much.

A lot of fundamentals being missed.

And who controlled the pace of the game?
Not the Gophers who are playing in THEIR house!
OS controlled the way the game was being played, and the Gophers could not counter it!
Lots of work to do....especially, if you cannot win at home!

djskillz -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/7/2015 9:03:00 AM)

Yep. Basketball 101. Just some terrible plays down the stretch that cost them. Uggh.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/7/2015 9:11:29 AM)

The silly turnovers are what really bother me.

Give it to Walker and you run a 50% chance of him shooting off-balance, or turning it over. Give it to him in the middle of the lane and the turnover probability skyrockets. Why pass it in there with 2 other guys around?

Matthieu is either very good or very bad. There is little in-between.

King passes up the open 3, a couple of times, and only shot one after passing it up, IMO, because nearly everyone in the barn was screaming for him to shoot it.

He made it. Not your super-star scorer, but fairly accurate. Should have taken one at the top of the key late.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/7/2015 9:28:45 AM)

I'm also wondering, didn't we have a timeout left to take at the end of regulation after OSU missed the layup? Instead King dribbles a couple times and launches one from beyond halfcourt with about 3 seconds left on the clock. I was honestly afraid there was time left on the clock for one more OSU possession. That was a great opportunity to win the game in regulation if they had kept their heads about it and/or called a timeout (if one was available?).

Since conference play started, King has been hesitate to shoot anything, much less the 3. I'm Wondering what's going on.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/7/2015 10:16:59 AM)

I feel bad for Andre Hollins. Must suck knowing you peaked as a player at 19.

djskillz -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/7/2015 10:17:33 AM)

His handle is just horrific at times.

lylej -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/9/2015 2:46:22 PM)

Checking the schedule, wonder when we can finally expect a win?
Tough row in the upcoming schedule....
Maybe they will play better on-the-road!

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/10/2015 2:02:54 PM)

Pa
Thet
Ick

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/10/2015 2:04:57 PM)

Why would you recruit guards who
Can't protect the ball
Can't shoot free throws?

It's incredible

Jim Frenette -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/10/2015 2:26:24 PM)

I guess we won't have to worry about other schools trying to steal Pitino from us.

The way they handled the 1-3-1 zone, every team in the Big 10 will use it. The Gophers aren't shoot good enough from the perimeter.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/12/2015 1:19:39 PM)

0-4 in the B10

Season spiraling down the toilet.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/13/2015 10:30:29 AM)

That Michigan loss was very unsettling. What has happened with the guard play? Can't handle the ball. It killed them, over and over.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/13/2015 10:17:31 PM)

Wow, another tough loss in loserville. 0-5... Does this mean we're in the running for the 1st pick next year? [:o]

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/14/2015 6:03:01 AM)

Souhan: It's time for Pitino to show he's more than a name

yeah, this town has given a ton of slack to loserville

and it's already time for the college hoops coach to show more [&o]

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/15/2015 11:48:00 AM)

Agree with Reusse

Reusse: Gophers must trade 'bawling and crying' for toughness
With this much experience and with Nate Mason providing pizazz as a freshman for the Gophers, there’s no excuse for an 0-5 start in the Big Ten

Jim Frenette -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/17/2015 3:30:45 PM)

Good win today with Dre Hollins finally hitting his shots

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/20/2015 11:40:24 PM)

Uhhh, geeee, yeah ... SHOULD beat Nebraska ..... [&o][&o][&o][&o]

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/20/2015 11:41:04 PM)

Iowa with three teams in the Top 25
Freddy Hoiberg is creating a monster down there.
Color me NOT SURPRISED, at all.
