Watched the Gophers tonight. They look pretty solid.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/6/2017 8:08:14 AM)

Very very very good win
We usually lose that game
NW is pretty good
We were better
Nice win fellas

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/6/2017 8:53:02 AM)

A win at NW on the road is is good win. NW is a competitive team this year.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/6/2017 9:09:59 AM)

Best moment of the night. Coffey scored on a breakaway dunk to cap a 10-0 run to take them from down 40-47 to lead 50-47. They would never trail again. They cut to a shot of Coffey's sister who plays BB for Northwestern. She's screaming "That's my brother!".

I'm sure she generally roots for the NW men to win. But can be forgiven for momentary outbursts for her little bro.

Bill Jandro -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/6/2017 9:26:23 AM)

Thats 2 big back to back B10 road victories against good teams.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/8/2017 10:25:54 PM)

Gophers beat Ohio State by 10 at home....gaining steam.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/9/2017 8:16:53 AM)

I think they look like a solid well rounded BB team for a change. Need Mason to stay healthy though, no solid backup PG that I've seen. We could do some damage this year and in the future, Springs is only Sr. getting on the floor.

I was amazed how well McBrayer, Springs, & Coffey handle the ball.....Those three all can take over for a few minutes but Mason is very important. Too bad that Fitzgerald hurt his knee and Jarvis Johnson has the heart issue----could really be stacked this year.

I think Hurt has played ok off of the bench and we haven't even seen minutes from Gilbert yet-----(he had to play a ton of minutes late last year)

Great turnaround so far
Also liking how they aren't gloating or satisfied

Cynical side still waiting for some debauchery or thuggery.

Glad they compete every game. Not always pretty, but they have won more than expected(at least for me).

Sadly, a lot of us are just that fatalistic when it comes to Gopher athletics. We are perpetually waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/9/2017 11:26:06 AM)

Coffey continues to impress. He's still a little raw and finding his way...like most freshman. But He's still a candidate fr an early exit to the NBA. He could use more seasoning at the collegiate level, but that doesn't seem to matter any more. He has tremendous skills, and is one of those rare freshman who plays with basketball sense beyond his years. That's all that will matter. It's going to be a short stay. Enjoy him while you can.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/9/2017 11:33:18 AM)

Pitino says they don't care around that stuff. Hopefully they're well-grounded.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/9/2017 11:50:59 AM)

First time in polls since 2013.

Lots of good right now.

I've had season tickets since McHale was playing. And I still have them despite not living in MN for 16 years.

I'm driving the bandwagon.

Just think if Davonte Fitgerald and Jarvis Johnson were healthy....we would be scary good.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/11/2017 6:46:26 PM)

Brutal 1st half at Mich St.
Non-McBrayer scoring? 6 points.

Thank goodness Sparty will be done with.

We shoot horribly...only taken 3 free throws through 3 qtrs of the game.
Pitino has a lot of work to do to keep these guys ready, and competitive!
No rebounding, horrible three point shooting.....

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/11/2017 11:40:20 PM)

Kinda figured this pin was coming to bust the balloon a little.
Not even competitive.

Yup....

Bill Jandro -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/12/2017 7:45:34 AM)

Tough place to go play and the Spartans were ready.

We weren't. Hopefully the kids learned from it.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/12/2017 8:15:49 AM)

Never did crack MSU defense. They totally shut the Gophers down. It was pretty impressive actually.
