I think everyone is rightfully in the show me stage. Nobody is saying they've accomplished anything yet.

Just saying that this year's team has nothing to do with last year's. Completely different. That could lead to better things...or they could find new fresh, exciting ways to suck.

But at least the chance is there.

I'm sorry. I just refuse to proclaim top 10 or top 25 or top 64 until the Gophers actually finish a season there. I've seen to many prolonged periods of underachievement and disappointment to feel otherwise. I am at the show me stage.

And don't forget Coffey has turf toe.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (12/25/2016 2:09:34 PM)

Good win Friday vs Hillbilly State. 12-1 heading into conference play. Hoping for .500 from here on out. Expecting 7-11, which still would be acceptable considering the disaster of last season.

Phil said it so much better than I ever could.

LOL...sorry dude..didn't notice your post 2 minutes before mine. Arkansas State is ranked 51 in College RPI....not quite a cream puff.

Big Game for recruiting tonight too:

Darren Wolfson ‏@DWolfsonKSTP 1d1 day ago
Among #Gophers hoops visitors tomorrow: 2018 F Race Thompson (Armstrong HS), + 2018 G AJ Green (Cedar Falls, Iowa). Pitino has offered both.

13 passes requested (some same team) by NBA scouts for Gophers-MSU. Most requested for game at Barn in yrs. Bridges would've been main draw.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (12/27/2016 9:50:42 PM)

Football game over. Now a 55-55 tie in hoops.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (12/27/2016 11:31:23 PM)

Winnable game. Blew 13 point Halftime lead, wild shots late in the game and in OT.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (12/28/2016 10:50:30 AM)

Same old
No reliable offensive players down the stretch

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/1/2017 6:26:13 PM)

Men get a nice OT win today over #15 Purdue!

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/2/2017 8:37:53 AM)

Thought it was huge, thinking it was at home.
Finding out it was on the road .... [:-]
Now I'm impressed.

We've had good teams that couldn't win ANY B10 road games .....

was good they finished that game, after not closing the Michigan State game.

Poppa was there too. Son upgraded some positions this off-season.

Could have won in regulation. Coffey is still learning late game play. The iso where he turned it over
with 12 seconds left was bad. Just like the late shot vs MSU, ugly.

But Mason took over. That was nice.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/2/2017 11:30:28 AM)

If they truly figure out the end-of-games ... could be fun!

Phil Riewer -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/3/2017 9:04:57 AM)

With McBrayer, Coffey, and Mason.....the Gophers will have mismatches in the back court all year long. Purdue didn't have anybody who could guard the 6'2" Mason or 6'5" McBrayer at guard.

They had 7 blocked shots too...just so much length and athleticism compared to last year....even Konate looks better when in there.

Konate in limited minutes is >>> than last year. More effective.

I watched the matchups and Purdue had the stud inside and good shooters but they could only beat us one on one with their inside stud just like Michigan State did....wondering why Pitino doesn't go zone once in a while with their length on the wing in Springs, Coffey, and McBrayer....not going to be easy getting a shot off over them. Plus Murphy, Curry, Lynch, and Konate can handle the middle.

Pitino just loves his man to man and it gets our big guys in foul trouble because of it----Izzo just licked his chops and tossed it inside and Pitino never switched from man to man....made no sense to me.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/5/2017 9:20:31 PM)

Hanging in there with 12 minutes left. Been trailing by 4-7 most of the night. But suddenly only down by 1. Should be an exciting finish.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/5/2017 9:25:24 PM)

We got this.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/5/2017 9:45:42 PM)

45 seconds away from a program-changing win!

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/5/2017 10:01:51 PM)

Great road win at NW! Mason clutch with 8 consecutive FTs at the end. I'm calling a #22 ranking next week. What a turn-around by Richard Pitino. So fun!

Again, learning how to win games.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/5/2017 10:10:57 PM)

They somehow pulled it off ugly...but win again. They don't face Northwestern or Purdue again this year.....weird schedule....Michigan St. twice within first 6 games.
