Not true. The molotov cocktail didn't even stay lit .... er ... what I meant to say was ... gotta go!

My name is Haines.

No, just PJ. I took his name in vain in here once, and part of my house was fire-bombed.

I plead guilty as charged, Your Honor.

AHA!

Two of em!

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/24/2020 10:52:45 AM)

Hurray

Can go on the road and beat a terrible NW, who is now 6-20

On to #7 Maryland for a thrashing Wednesday.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/24/2020 11:35:11 AM)

Needed that win. Back on track. If we win vs Maryland, we're close to being back in.

Now, THAT'S funny
I don't care who you are

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/24/2020 11:43:53 AM)

The Mayor has a bad team

So that may be a win.

But good luck beating Wisconsin again
Or winning at Indiana

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/26/2020 10:15:38 AM)

Sounds like Mike Miller (former national champion at Florida) is the front-runner to replace Pitino.

You want to rejuvenate this thing?
Go get Mikey.
There will be a train of traffic from SD every game night, for years.
Dude's a living legend out here to the west

Btw ... just playing along with the fantasy, Matt, not actually biting your hook.

It doesn't matter. He'll claim it as a win anyway.

One bonus good thing about Pitino's inevitable firing is that Coyle already has a short list of replacements and will likely have a new coach in place within 10 days of canning Pitino.

I don't see a way he stays....unless Mash is that great of recruit.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/26/2020 10:31:38 PM)

Damn.

This team chokes so hard. Its almost unpossible.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/26/2020 10:32:17 PM)

Biggest. Choke. Ever.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/26/2020 10:36:04 PM)

Great game. We will have a good chance at the NIT title.

Pete M. -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/26/2020 10:36:17 PM)

How many shots did Oturu take down the stretch? Scratch that -- how many TOUCHES did he have down the stretch? Richard's decision to have Carr play one on one down the stretch, instead of going to one of the most dominant one-on-one scorers in the country, is inexcusable and has contributed to so many late-game losses.

Pitino is done.

Are you saying he learned nothing from his father?

If we let go of Richard, he has another major job in a heartbeat. Remember when Pitino was all but gone to Alabama? Now we have Mashburn on his way. Fire Pitino and Mashburn is gone. No thanks. Pitino has IT. Still young. It will work out.

I'm OK with that.

Pete M. -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/26/2020 10:48:34 PM)

Yes, the players should have made free throws. No doubt. But the game NEVER should have been that close. The last five minutes of offense were inexcusable. This should have been a comfortable margin of victory by getting post touches to Oturu and letting him go to work.

You can seamlessly apply that paragraph to 3 of the last 4 games.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/26/2020 10:58:41 PM)

DL, I get the feeling you actually root against the Gophers. You don't love them like you love the Wolves and the Vikings. Actually I think you root against the Twins too. Is it because you want to brag over true Twins fans? I don't know. But it's something I have noticed.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/26/2020 11:00:58 PM)

I HATE when the Gophers lose!!! I do not think DL feels the same passion. He chuckles about it. That bothers me. Sorry.

Or you just might actually be an idiot talking out of your ass.

I went to every Gopher home game from when Kevin McHale was a freshman until I left Minnesota in 2001.

I never root against the Gophers (or Twins). I just don't pretend things are great when they aren't. And when I think there needs to be changes, I say so.

Shit. I'm more negative about the Timberwolves (deservedly so) than any other Minnesota sports team by a wide margin.
