Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/3/2021 7:50:19 PM)

Bounce-back win at home, 17 point win over THE Ohio State

Carr again rugged from the field but still got 15

Robbins proving to be a great addition. 27 with 14 boards

Mashburn 10 points off the bench with a pair of treys.
Kaleschur better with 13 on 5-9 shooting

Have to figure out road playing

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/3/2021 8:50:33 PM)

Robbins is a beast.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/4/2021 6:16:36 AM)

Gophers freshman guard David Mutaf informed the coaching staff he intends to transfer and is no longer with the team, the team said Sunday.

Mutaf averaged 3.3 points and shot 2-for-4 from three-point range in three games this season.

The 6-5 native of Istanbul was a late addition to coach Richard Pitino's 2020 recruiting class that included Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Martice Mitchell.

Mutaf was expected to provide three-point shooting for the Gophers, but he didn't crack the backcourt rotation after joining the team this fall. He had a season-high five points in four minutes against Missouri-Kansas City on Dec. 10.

"He made the decision to transfer and we wish him well," Pitino said. "We're disappointed to see him leave. We wish him well wherever he ends up. It's always tough coming from a foreign country, all the way here in the middle of the pandemic."

Robbins is a beast.

Beast is a poor word for him.

Cockburn is a beast.

Garza is a beast.

Robbins is very good, but not a beast.

I hope it was about more than playing time. To only give it half a season is pretty impatient.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/4/2021 7:48:39 AM)

Gotta say, they are playing much better than I thought possible
Good to see

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/4/2021 8:29:08 AM)

Yep, I was afraid the Wisconsin game would burst their balloon and it would back to business as usual. Good to see they can bounce back.

kgdabom -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/4/2021 10:09:07 AM)

I take it that the team is playing well enough that Pitino is unlikely to be fired.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/4/2021 10:34:03 AM)

Pretty sure the "we better extend him before he gets a real job offer" starts in a week or so ..... [&o]

It helped that the guy defending him most of the game was 5 inches shorter. That was a fault in the Ohio State game plan. They wanted to deny Carr. Fine, understandable since he torched them last year. But by doing that they forced an option B where they giving away 5 inches. The result was predictable.

Robbins got some stuff to go yesterday that will not go most days. [&:]
Even he had to laugh on a couple of them.
Wasn't sure whether he was shooting hook shots, or chasing butterflies
He's like George Mikan and Randy Breuer had a kid

Meaning there's some old school and some new school to his game

Robbins has been doing that for a few games now. He has this variety of goofy looking hooks that he delivers from a number of arm angles and they have just been money. I swear the one was even a side arm sling.

He has it down. It's not luck.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/6/2021 9:42:25 PM)

82-57 L at Michigan

Big-time struggles away from home.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/6/2021 10:06:03 PM)

Need a new travel agent obviously. Wow. Have to admit I watched very little with everything going on tonight.

The "beast" scored 5 tonight. Different caliber of opponent I guess.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/7/2021 7:32:06 AM)

NRFPT

Not even close

Shades of Clem Haskins.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/10/2021 2:37:17 PM)

Nice 1st half in Iowa. Given up back to back three's though and down 6, now 7. Need a bucket.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/10/2021 2:45:40 PM)

16-2 run, down 14. Whatever Richie said at half time, he shouldn't say it ever again.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/10/2021 2:51:37 PM)

Garza getting a way with a lot of elbows to clear space.

Garza with 23, our monster with 10.

Carr idling with 7.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/10/2021 3:10:11 PM)

Guys have fought back to within 5.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/10/2021 6:00:59 PM)

Came up short. At least we made it interesting until the last minutes.

Gotta shoot better.

Beast finished with 10, Carr with 13.

Garza covered their totals with 10 to spare.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/16/2021 5:08:19 PM)
