How can you dislike Nolen's game but like Armelin's? Neither can shoot. Armelin is kinda like a poor man's Nolen.

Every college hoops game is a godsend, Matt. [;)]

College hoops might be the only sport that I can easily watch 4-5 games back to back.

djskillz -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:35:07 PM)

I'm with ya, Matt. Not a fan of Nolen. Armelin plays with much more athleticism and aggressiveness. He'll be better than Nolen longterm.

The Gophers still need a good PG (Nolen is not a good one for a top 25 team IMO, at all). They need Williams to get aggressive and grow with his athleticism. And they need Sampson to stop being a girl.

Duke has no chance vs. Ohio State.

How do you figure?

Ohio State is good on the boards. But so is Duke. And Duke has 2 better players (right now) than anyone on Ohio State, including Sullinger. With Irving, Duke is a far better team. Without him, I still think Duke and Kansas are both slightly better.

Duke will go as far as Mason Plumlee's growth takes them. If he continues to play like he has the last couple of games (and up to his talent level) then Duke definitely has the ability to repeat.

Agreed. South Carolina vs. Arkansas next on tap.

What a play by Armelin just now!

The UK/Florida game yesterday was fantastic.

Arkansas is going to be VERY good in the next year or two with the recruits they have coming. They've got to be paying their guys a good rate to get as good of a class as they have next year. Who the heck wants to go to Arkansas?

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:43:00 PM)

How do we get 3 more wins this season? That's what we're gonna need to get into the tourney. Fall from #18 in the country last week to likely out of the tournament the next.

djskillz -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:44:50 PM)

It's got to start inside. There's no way a frontline of Sampson/Mbakwe/Iverson should get dominated on the boards like they did on the floor today.

Unacceptable.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:47:35 PM)

DAMMIT, THAT'S A TRAVEL ON SULLINGER! Make the call!!

djskillz -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:48:46 PM)

North Carolina is going to be a very, very dangerous team come tourney time. Should be a great game next week at Cameron.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:50:38 PM)

I hope Rodney Williams goes pro.

I've said it before, but he's got one of the ugliest shots I've ever seen. Some team is probably going to really regret drafting him IMO. He's much more "athlete" than basketball player at this point.

Actually, what's scary is that he's a guy that's right up David Kahn's alley. [:-]

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:54:40 PM)

Was Sampson even a good HS player? He's so uncoordinated. Can't rebound a lick, even when the ball hits him right in the hands.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:57:39 PM)

Armelin
Hollins
Mbakwe
Iverson

Those are good blocks for next year's team. Need a good transfer, maybe 2.

djskillz -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:58:37 PM)

I'm with ya, Matt.

Marshall putting on a PG clinic for UNC today. 16 assists so far! [:-]

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 2:58:42 PM)

Ahanmisi wasn't given much of a chance today, huh? Must have had a bad week of practice.

I think it's partly that. But he's just so damn lazy and out of focus way too much of the time. Frustrating as hell.

Where are Sweens and Jim when you need them? Need to decide between the South Carolina/Arkansas and UCLA/USC womens games.

Choose neither. It's not a sport.

Score one for John Schneider over David Lee Roth.

Country Girls over California Girls.

I think we've keyed in on why you're still single. [:D]

djskillz -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (2/6/2011 4:11:34 PM)

Not really. I've had my chances to get married so far; haven't taken them.
