Good game, but it's a bummer to lose in the shootout because in the second half of the third period we were all over the BC goalie and ONE of those should have gone in. And don't the refs call penalties in overtime in the Big Ten league?

Lots of high energy from both teams tonight. Wilcox did a good job, but cripes two of the BC goals were dribblers right between the pads.

Rest up and do it all again tomorrow.

More Friday night woes for the hockey Gophers? It seems like they plsy better on Saturday.

That was the case for a couple of seasons Bruce, but so far this season they're playing well on Fridays. Heck, the record was 4-0 until last night.

And last night's game was totally entertaining watching two very good teams going at it. One little piece of puck luck and we'd have won it in regulation.

That game was weird. It had everything you could imagine.

MN dominated the first 10
They came back on 2 Wilcox gaffes
Then, he kept us in it and it was up and down the ice from then on

2 really good teams out there. Fun game to watch

I didn't even know they were doing shootouts in college hockey. Since when? Where have I been? Tuned in when they were in the middle of the shootout. What a deflating way to end a game. Hate it. Just call it a tie and be done with it.

It sounded like the shootout was an option that the B1G10 league adopted when it was formed, but it varies from league to league. Before the game Lucia and the BC coach had the decision about what to do if the game went into overtime and wasn't decided at the end of one overtime. The other coach deferred to Lucia and he picked the shootout.

It didn't matter. Both teams get a "T" in the W/L/T game. We didn't "lose".

I forgot it was on this afternoon so I didn't tune in until the 3rd period was just starting. It was nice to see that we already had a 4-0 lead, and it was nice to end with 6 goals and a win.

Hard to talk about negatives with such a good game, but they have to fix the problem of not scoring on powerplays. And to have a five minute major with no (or few) shots on goal is crazy.

But they can work on that. Overall it looks like it was a good game based on the comments I heard.

The first lose of the season to a very good team. They were on their game and we weren't. It happens. Lots of things to be learned from that game by a very young team. They will become a better team for it too.

I had to wait for websites to catch up (and they take forever - like Big10, Gophers, NCAA - none of them update right away) to find out that they had won. I watched some of it on a live stream that SomeManicFriend provided me, but since I was caught up in the Wild game I missed the end of the Gopher game and thought from Twinsfan's last post that perhaps they had lost!
