That's a good one.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/31/2012 2:04:35 PM)

So SMF, with the season now over what changes would you like to see? What improvements need to be made? How would you do it? How do you assess the coaches?

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (12/31/2012 2:05:55 PM)

Keep in mind he used to drink with Murray Warmath.

Thanks for asking, Matt!
Improvement in our offensive attack, definitely number one priority for me.
Identity a problem, I think we're trying to be all things .... Doesn't work or building programs.
Recruit a ton of either receivers or running backs who want immediate playing time.
Nelson's ok. We need a more dynamic RB corps who can catch the ball out of the backfield.
Couple leaders will be missed on D and ST. Fill those holes with athletes.
Like what the staff has done, but they've looked overwhelmed once they are in tough game-winning situations.
That has to improve, and probably will, with better playmakers on the roster.
Recruiting has to be our focus every day, for a couple more years.
The roster appears more athletic, but also appears light-in-the-shorts. Hit the weight room boys.
Look to fill immediate holes with JC studs.
THe school itself needs to help more. Improve training facilities and amenities. Make FB a priority for awhile.

Now that Nelson figures to be #1, all spring he and receivers can get together and practice getting timing and tendaciesdown

So Fargo....with the season now over what changes would you like to see? What improvements need to be made & how would you do it? How do you access the coaches/new AD/facilities/team/etc?

Karl with this being college, I saw a lot of improvement all around and that happens with recruiting. I think we could use a little more speed on D line and RB as what we have is power runners. Like Tim, we could use an upgrade at WR with speed also. As for coaching staff, I'd like for them to incorporate more quick slants that would help in short yardage situations. Fri all night, on 3rd and 5 we would go 15-20 down the field which isn't high percentage pass.

Friday when Gray came in in 4th, I would not have passed on 1st when the object was to run the clock. I believe at that time about 5 minutes remained. That stopped clock and also forced a pass on 3rd which I didn't care for. That IMO was poor game management

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (12/31/2012 8:50:26 PM)

Perhaps I offended? LOL. My apologies. Ok boys, let's hear your state of the state.....or in this case state of the Gopher football program. Where are we at and what more do we need to do? Details are welcome.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (12/31/2012 10:12:53 PM)

Congrats to MarQueis Gray for receiving a invite to the 2013 NFL combine. Been awhile....I think he's the first Gopher since 2010.

Troy Stoudermire will be playing in tonight's Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game. 6 pm Central start time on ESPN3 (whatever that is).

Note: Also scheduled to play Roszell Gayden, a Minnesota kid who some may remember as a pretty big high school recruit. If I recall, he chose Auburn over the Gophers and others. It didn't pan out. This roster lists him from Winona State.

Maybe he thought he had transferred to a school in Colorado

Gophers lucked out. That will hurt his opportunity to get into another big school now.he wasn't enrolled or given scholarship at Houston yet. Also hurt pro possibilities

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (1/16/2013 7:13:30 PM)

Maybe it was part of his rehab. [sm=Smoker.gif].

Go blog about that you little bitch.

Pretty sure Coach Kill bullied him into toking.

I long for a day that MN becomes a power. Far too long in mediocrity.

I was silly and actually was hoping as I scrolled down that we had climbed onto that ranking.
I agree
Far too long.
Lots of B10 schools on there, we need to get to be one of them soon.

Kill lands the all time leader in receptions in California high school history.

Yeah...and not a great offer list. Arizona looks like the only other AQ school to offer him. But I have heard several Eric Decker comparisons. Maybe it's wishful thinking but if he turns out anything close to Decker, it's a good get.

Really bummed about the Nate Andrews decommit. He was the one I was really hoping we'd land. Still a week to go and anything can happen. Also good to see that this projected small 2013 class is growing. Should help even out the future classes.
