Seriously, though, Wisconsin made three straight Rose Bowls with solid-not-spectacular recruiting classes. Yes, if you're an SEC West school, you're going to have to pull top ten classes every year, but it's overrated to a certain extent. I'll take good coaching over recruiting rankings.

Wisconsin only made the Rose Bowl the third time because Ohio State wasn't bowl eligible.

So? Would that really be any different than the Gophers making it only because Ohio State made the playoffs?

Wisconsin has had a solid program for nearly 20 years -- this is the first year there has been a hint of a crack in the foundation. No sense in trying to diminish it.

We haven't been to a Rose Bowl in over 50 years. The only team that hasn't gone in that span. I'll take it any way I can get it at this point. We can be more proud about how we get there next year.

I liken it to the Twins winning the Central Division when everyone else sucked and getting their butts handed to them by the Yankees. We aren't that good yet.

We're not likely to face as tough an opponent as TCU. Getting to a major bowl game alone does a lot or the program. I'll take my chances.

If the Big 10 Championship Game winning team makes the 4-team playoff, is the Rose Bowl obligated to take the Big 10 Championship losing team (which I project to be the Gophers)?

If not, we're not getting in because the Rose Bowl would select whichever of Michigan State or Ohio State doesn't win the East.

I have no idea. Every year?

I thought they still tried to do the Big 10/Pac 10 thing with the Rose Bowl whenever possible.

Per the Rose Bowl website.

The College Football Playoff at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual will be held on January 1, 2015 at the Rose Bowl Stadium. This game will match two top teams as selected by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee to compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff Championship to be played on January 12, 2015 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

It will be a semi-final game for the Championship. No chance we're playing.

I don't know exactly how it works, but I think the playoff locations rotate among the major bowls. In non-playoff years the Rose Bowl is still affiliated with Big 10.

It's part of the rotation, and this year, it's one of the playoff games.

Coaching is important no doubt, but speed and size are important too.

I'm not looking for Top 10, would be nice to eventually get there, but it's not realistic. We should start by getting on par with Wisconsin, and them aim for Mich St., Penn St. We were 19 places behind Wisc, 28 behind Penn St,. 30 behind Mich St., for the last class. It probably needs to start with an in-state blue chipper deciding to stay home for once and be a hero for his home state team. I think Kill is getting the program close to the spot where a blue-chipper should consider it. Once one does it, it will be easier to get the next one, and easier to get higher ranked kids from other states. Getting to good bowl games helps, winning them helps more. Being blown out, to me, would have a negative impact.

Really struggled with a not-very-good-yet Purdue squad, on our home field.
Silly to keep saying it, but this week will tell a great deal about us.
Really loved the half-time adjustments, better teams will be out of our reach if we have to wait for the half, however.
Just have no idea where we are at exactly.m
Good .... But lacking confidence?
Ok ...... But more a product of schedule?
Not good ......... Just better than a crappy league
All these will be answered soon.

I was in a crowded bar, but wasn't that the easiest PI call in the history of FB?
Are we just supposed to excuse it because it's gasp! Thee Notre Dame?

Blocking DBs during a pass play is still illegal ...... No?

I don't get it, either, other than it's Notre Dame being Notre Dame. Not a close call in my eyes.
