What disturbs me most about where we are ....
Look back at when we won big games vs Iowa NW Michigan .....
Look at what those teams have done since that time. Look at what we have done.
Somethings not happening correctly.
Iowas #10 in the country ferchrissakes
michigans #15

Phil Riewer -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2015 10:01:25 AM)

Iowa and Michigan don't have questions at QB, WR, and RB......our defense has been top notch.....

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2015 10:41:00 AM)

Our defense has been consistently inconsistent.

Corleone -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2015 11:56:19 AM)

I know it's Souhan, but he absolutely nails this one:

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2015 12:29:50 PM)

Very good stuff
Thanks Chris

13 point dog to Michigan tommorow.
Would be nice to see the team respond to the tough week with a spirited effort.
Michigans defense has the ability to make our offense look even worse than normal.
Could be a long day if we don't gets some breaks.

Yeah, when Souhan sticks to Captain Obvious material, he comes off as much smarter.

I realize that anyone with any semblance of a "sports IQ" has realized this for years, but based upon the number of lap dogs commenting on that article defending the U - it apparently still needs to be shouted from the rooftops.

It begs the question of why any of us still care. Does anyone truly believe that this school will ever win a meaningful championship of any kind? At this point, I'd settle for just a B1G title someday.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2015 6:49:42 PM)

Hell, I'd be happy to get the Axe on a semi consistent basis. [>:]

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 8:19:05 AM)

Agree completely.
Our standards .... meh.
That's where I was going with the "look where we went after the big Iowa and Michigan Nebraska wins, and look where they went"
Obviously we were happy to have been a fly in the ointment.
Instead of looking at it like we are heading up, joining the elite who EXPECT to win ... we simply slumped back down with the other nobodies.

The last excuse is gone as far as I'm concerned. They broke ground on the athletic village this week. This should put the facilities on par with anyone in the nation.

But you're right, there is SO much set-in-their-ways losing attitude of so many in this state it's always an uphill battle. I guarantee you if you strike up a conversation with a random person about new athletic facilities there's a good chance you'll hear "What do they need all that fancy stuff for? They should be able to practice anywhere!". Showing a complete lack of understand of how collegiate athletics works. An impressionable 17-18 year old kid visits Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and sees Athletic Taj Mahals and is told this state of the art wonder will be his home away from home for 4 years and his every need will be catered to. Then he visits Minnesota where he's told "What do you need all that fancy stuff for? You should be able to practice anywhere!"

Which school is he going to pick?

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 12:12:47 PM)

Yeah, hopefully the days of our recruitment pitch being "no need for ice baths son, just go lay down outside" are over.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 12:16:29 PM)

Who scheduled the Gophers game at same time as World Series? When is the last time we played a night game? What are the chances. I should get DVR.

GOTTA do Halloween night on college campus, GOTTA.

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 1:11:14 PM)

I'll be watching the Wild (while huddled in our darkened house so no trick or treaters think we're home) and occasionally peek over at the Gopher game to see what's happening.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 1:45:36 PM)

These are the nights that sports bars are made for. Multiple screens for simultaneous viewing is required.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 4:05:58 PM)

Not sure I have EVER seen a CF season like the one Nebraska is having ..... [:-][:-][:-]

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 7:27:48 PM)

Gotta be able to convert TD's when you get into the red zone. Need a stop here and another score for us before the half.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 7:35:27 PM)

Big stop, a TD before the half would be huge.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 7:40:42 PM)

Ya baby, big play for the gophs! Only problem is they left a lot of time on the clock. Need another stop. They get the ball after half too.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 7:53:39 PM)

Yea baby, someone is shining down on the Gophs tonight. Let's get another 7 here before the half.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 7:58:17 PM)

Tired of seeing the Wolverines holding our receivers, mugging our receivers, no calls. Still, wonderful to take a lead into the half.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 8:30:56 PM)

Need to answer that drive with one of our own.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 8:31:37 PM)

Great throw to Brooks.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2015 8:32:45 PM)

Stupid pass on the next play, fortunate it wasn't picked.
