I'm happy they won. We should win our next 3 games as well.

Like you said SMF, extremely lucky their QB was out.

MDK -> RE: Gopher Football (10/15/2016 2:45:02 PM)

NCState missed a 34 yard FG that would have won the game. Guess we won't be swapping Walsh for this guy.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/15/2016 6:33:39 PM)

Why? He misses the same "gimme's" and he'd be much cheaper [;)]

MarkWren -> RE: Gopher Football (10/15/2016 8:02:08 PM)

Until the Winfield pick six, I was fairly certain we'd blow that game, vs. THAT poopstorm of a QB. Hoo boy, was that an ugly game. Penalty-fest. Spotty tackling both sides.

I hate to complain, but that was a really ugly "w". I don't see enough to justify keeping man mountain as HC of this squad going forward. The discipline is not there. And yet, there is some good! He found a way to navigate us to a road Big 10 win using a QB who essentially had never played before. Maybe we can get on a bit of a roll, clean up the stupid stuff, and eventually open up the playbook more a la Norv and the Vikes? Here's hopin'....

drew -> RE: Gopher Football (10/15/2016 8:37:31 PM)

Good stuff Mark. Just one problem with it..... The Gophers D ain't the Vikes D.

Here was my mind-bogglingly stupid decision of the day by Claeys. It wound up working out perfectly for us, but I think it was a blind squirrel-nut situation. 4th and 1, on their 20, up 7-0 with about 30 seconds left in the first half. Only 1 timeout left. I would kick the FG 100 out of 100 times. Our kicker had missed one FG the whole year at that point. They even had a guy get hurt on the prior play so we had time to consider the decision and he still went for it. Like I said, we wound up scoring a big TD, but it was a very questionable decision IMO.

Sadly it is...from the Frazier era [:-]

Easiest schedule we will ever have.
The losses to PSU and Iowa will haunt this team.
Could have been an easy road to the biggest game in decades coming up.
Nope. We couldn't accept our good fortune. Sad really.

Dude had a Walsh day.
Just awful.
Snatched defeat from victorys jaws.
The other guys on that roster deserved that win.
Pisses me off to see Clemson acting all high and mighty afterwards.
They kicked your ass most of the day, Dabo. Whatever Dabo is.

Yup. When I saw the schedule come out I was drooling. Completely wasted a golden opportunity.

Esp now that they're sitting there at 6-0 thinking life is wonderful.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (10/20/2016 10:43:40 AM)

Two Gophers football players have had a temporary restraining order filed against them in Hennepin County District Court, and the order could keep them from attending Saturday’s homecoming game against Rutgers at TCF Bank Stadium, according to court documents and the players’ attorney.

Lawyer Lee Hutton said he will seek to modify the order Thursday, which would allow sophomore running back Carlton Djam and freshman defensive lineman Tamarion Johnson to attend the game. The woman who filed the order is involved in Gophers home games, Hutton said.

“I’m aggressively advocating on behalf of my clients to contest the restraining order,” said Hutton, a former Minnesota player.

The restraining order stems from an early morning incident Sept. 2, Hutton said. The incident included allegations of sexual assault, a Minneapolis police report said.

University spokesman Evan Lapinska said in a statement: “It would not be appropriate for the University to comment on this matter to the extent it relates to University students. The University reaffirms, however, that it will honor and comply with court orders.”

I would speculate that the suspensions are directly related to the drug sales. But let's not speculate.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 12:07:06 PM)

Dominating early. Leidner 7 for 7 and a rushing touchdown. Maybe his benching last week was a wake-up call.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 12:09:08 PM)

Freaking Carpenter misses a 34-yard FG. Unbelievable.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 12:23:06 PM)

We're experiencing a defensive meltdown at the end of the half. Refs have bailed us out a couple times. But we're still having trouble stopping them. Sad.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 12:56:02 PM)

We got us a game. Shoulda known. Rutgers had to have this one circled as a potential win.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 1:01:16 PM)

Rodney Smith running like a man on a mission.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 1:18:37 PM)

Brutal pick 6 by Leidner. Shoulda been a tie game, but Rutgers misses the PAT.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 1:19:49 PM)

Rodney Smith takes the kickoff to the house to give us some breathing room. Thought we'd get called for a block in the back right at the end.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 1:32:31 PM)

Terrible call running Leidner outside on that big 4th and 1.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 1:47:11 PM)

It's time for Claeys to go. And I'm serious as a heart attack. Rutgers has converted on 3rd and long AT WILL this game. Teach tackling. Teach coverage.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 1:56:42 PM)

Shoulda never been hired in the first place.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 1:56:59 PM)

This is embarrassing. We soooooo deserve to lose.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 2:01:19 PM)

Leidner should be benched.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2016 2:09:56 PM)

I'm glad Rutgers made FG to take the lead. Make us do something.
