Not really NFL news, and not really current news, but somebody sent me this story which I thought was kind of nice to read in a time when we mostly read about negative incidents.

There are some games in which cheering for the other side feels better than winning

That's a pretty cool story...if it turns things around for even one of those kids it will have served its purpose.  It most certainly will have a profound effect on most of them.

Ray Lewis wants to play in Dallas. Jerry can't decide whether to wet himself or sign him. All the guys that play where Ray would play are  better than Ray, plus Jerry feels there is a harmoneous lockerroom[&:][&:]per dipshit Kazoo, the alien freakazoid, John Clayton....

Finger onthe pulse you little alien. Jerry freeze frame. copywrite jgeilsband can't figure out what figurine to get next and you are risking what perceived credibily you have left to chase his imaginative shadow.....For fudgesSakes. Only rhyme fudge with duck.......

Prediction .....Right here. The Cowboys will not win another playoff game while Jerry Jones is alive......[;)]

Tim Cady -> RE: RE:NFL News (2/25/2009 11:40:25 PM)

Trent Green and Drew Bennett? Anyone?[8D]

Seriously they could have been the difference last year if we would have had them at their peak injury free....Oh excuse me but ducks are flying out my bu.....oh nevermind

Still take Coles.....Who might only show up 4 games a year, better than some of the crap we have had since 3 deep.

Cutler upset over potential deals to Detroit, Tampa Bay

Posted: February 28th, 2009 | Adam Schefter

There’s one story behind the trade of Matt Cassel to the Chiefs. There’s a whole other story behind that blockbuster story.

While New England and Kansas City were agreeing to Saturday’s trade of Cassel to the Chiefs for the draft’s 34th overall pick, there were more teams in the mix. Detroit, Tampa and Denver were involved in trade talks of their own also tied to Cassel, according to sources in the respective NFL cities.

Tampa approached Denver to try to make a three-way trade that would have sent Cassel to the Broncos and quarterback Jay Cutler to the Buccaneers. The Broncos entertained the notion and pondered it but ultimately decided against it.

Also, the Lions approached the Broncos about a trade for Cutler, trying to dangle Cassel as bait. Once again, Denver debated the deal and opted against it apparently. What made it a moot point was that while all Tampa, Detroit and Denver engaged in trade talks with New Engalnd, the Patriots went ahead and dealt Cassel to the Chiefs.

The Broncos firmly maintain that they never intended to trade Cutler, that they were approached to make the trades. But, as of Saturday afternoon, Cutler was angry to hear that his name had been floated in any trade conversations.

Now the Chiefs have Cassel, the Broncos still have Cutler and the Lions and Buccaneers continue their search for quarterbacks in one of the wilder and more complex behind-the-scene dramas the NFL has seen in any recent offseason.

SPIN SPIN SPIN

What else are they going to say. Denver is being ratted out as the intiators.

Most Dominate in their sport for next decade....Poll

Hockey...Ovechkin...copywrite Melrose

NFL...Matt Ryan...copywrite Hodge...with Adrian Peterson caveat of the question being next decade and the that is tough at the rb position, so it is was not for a whole next decade, peterson would be the choice.

NBA...LeBron James...copywrite tim Legler

Golf...Tiger.....

So that is your poll - Ovechkin(my choice as this poll is laid out) with Tiger close second....I think most will say Tiger as there is no competition on his level in his sport...same might be said for Ovechkin if Crosby wasn't in that league. I think it hard to compare individual sports like Golf and Tennis with team sport guys so the poll is flawed, but of course espn is just trying to spark conversation.

The rest of the choices are Matt Ryan....Lebron James...

I don't see Matt Ryan as the dominate force in the NFL for the next 10...Of Course he was better than I expected as a rookie.

You decide:

Lions Keeping an Eye on Cutler's Situation
Sun Mar 1, 2009

Mlive.com reports Broncos QB Jay Cutler believes he's still on the trading block and he's probably right. Just because the Lions couldn't swing the deal involving QB Matt Cassel (basically trading him to Denver for Cutler), it doesn't mean the Lions still aren't interested. The problem is the Lions don't have as much ammunition for a trade. The Broncos need a quarterback to replace Cutler and Cassel -- who would've been reunited with former Patriots assistant Josh McDaniels -- was a perfect fit. The Broncos will be far less inclined to deal Cutler for a draft pick or two. However, having said that, the Lions are likely going to keep a very close eye on all the ill feelings coming out of Denver and hope to capitalize on it.

My heart goes out to the families of the three men who apparently are lossed at sea.

The coast guard stated that as of sundown tonight, all searches will end.

Those poor guys! What a shame.[:@]

Not only did Owens have relationship issues with quarterback Tony Romo and tight end Jason Witten, but the receiver consistently criticized offensive coordinator Jason Garrett's play calling and his offensive schemes to the point that sources have said Garrett did not believe they could coexist.
While the Cowboys were trying to downplay a possible rift between Owens and Witten during the season, the two reportedly came close to blows in mid-December.
An incident occurred at the Cowboys' training facility when Witten tried to engage Owens in a conversation about a pass route. Owens told Witten to stay away from him and called him a name. The two exchanged words before being separated.

The confrontation came a day after a source told ESPN that Owens believed Romo and Witten -- close friends and road roommates -- hold private meetings and create plays without including Owens.
While Romo also will be without the recipient of most his touchdown passes, he also will no longer have to make sure T.O. has enough passes his way to make him happy. Whether that was perception or reality will no longer matter either.

The Cowboys went 31-17 in Owens' three seasons, but 0-2 in the playoffs

Bucs LB Hayes stabbed with scissors, knife

Posted: March 9, 2009 Sporting News staff reports

Hillsborough County deputies say the girlfriend of Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Geno Hayes stabbed him in the head with a pair of scissors and in the neck with a knife, according to the Tampa Tribune.

A sheriff's spokesperson said Hayes, 21, was treated and released from a hospital Saturday evening. He suffered superficial wounds.

Hayes' girlfriend, 19-year-old Shevelle Bagley, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
